• OpenAI has rolled out a preview of personal finance tools inside ChatGPT for Pro subscribers in the U.S., letting them link their bank and investment accounts to ask about spending, planning, and portfolio performance.

• The feature works through a Plaid partnership covering over 12,000 institutions including Schwab, Fidelity, Chase, Robinhood, and American Express, and builds on OpenAI’s April acquisition of the team behind personal finance startup Hiro.

• Users start by clicking “Finances” in the sidebar or typing “@Finances, connect my accounts,” and they can disconnect services in Settings, with synced data removed from ChatGPT within 30 days afterward.

SpaceX targets June 11 IPO pricing on Nasdaq

• SpaceX is aiming to price its initial public offering as soon as June 11 and has chosen Nasdaq as its listing venue, with shares set to trade under the ticker ‘SPCX’, sources told Reuters.

• The company has pulled forward its timeline, planning to make its prospectus public as early as next Wednesday, kick off a roadshow on June 4, and debut on the market as soon as June 12.

• SpaceX is likely to target a raise of about $75 billion at a roughly $1.75 trillion valuation, with Morgan Stanley, Bank of America, Citigroup, JPMorgan, and Goldman Sachs serving as lead bookrunners.

Brockman takes control of OpenAI products

• OpenAI president Greg Brockman is now officially in charge of all product strategy at the company, following a Friday reorganization aimed at merging ChatGPT and Codex into a single agentic experience for users.

• Brockman will oversee four pillars: core product and platform under Thibault Sottiaux, enterprise industries under Nick Turley, consumer areas like health and finance under Ashley Alexander, and infrastructure, ads, and growth under Vijaye Raji.

arXiv bans AI slop authors for one year

• ArXiv will hand out one-year bans to authors caught submitting papers with obvious AI-generated content, the preprint repository’s computer science chair Thomas Dietterich announced on X late Thursday evening.

• The one-strike rule targets incontrovertible evidence like hallucinated references and leftover chatbot meta-comments such as “would you like me to make any changes?”, though authors can appeal and a moderator plus Section Chair must confirm.

GoPro pivots to defense amid sale talks

• GoPro is exploring a sale and other strategic options while also pushing into defense and aerospace markets, hiring investment bank Houlihan Lokey to weigh offers from interested parties in defense, consumer, and financial sectors.

• The action camera maker’s board said it received several unsolicited strategic inquiries, and last month GoPro disclosed plans to chase defense contracts, a move that briefly nearly doubled its stock before the price slid back down.

• GoPro’s situation has grown worse, with sales falling, losses rising, shares stuck near $1 for two years, and a recent layoff cutting a quarter of staff, leaving just over 600 workers from a former peak of 1,500.

Gridcare wants to save the power grid:

What’s the biggest holdup in data center construction today? Microsoft reckons it’s securing buildings with sufficient power, not sourcing scarce GPUs. Enter Gridcare, which aggregates a wealth of data on the state of the domestic electricity grid to “help data center developers find available power for their facilities.” Given how much faster it is to find spare power than to spin up new interconnection hardware, it’s not a shock that Gridware just raised a $64 million round just one year after leaving stealth.

SpaceXAI takes on Claude Code, Codex:

Released into what SpaceXAI calls an ‘early beta,’ the AI lab’s new Grok Build service brings Claude Code-style tooling to the company previously known as xAI. The move by the Elon Musk-founded AI company comes after demand for agentic coding services exploded in recent quarters, thanks to improvements in both model intelligence and harness design. Grok Build is limited at present to SuperGrok Heavy subscribers, the highest tier of Grok access.

OpenAI prepares legal action against Apple

• OpenAI has hired an outside law firm to weigh legal action against Apple over their ChatGPT integration, with options including a formal breach-of-contract notice, though any move will likely wait until after its Elon Musk trial wraps up.

• Announced at WWDC in June 2024, the deal placed ChatGPT inside Siri and the iPhone’s Visual Intelligence feature, but OpenAI says the integration has been buried, its features are hard to find, and revenue trails projections.

• Apple has its own complaints, including worries about OpenAI’s privacy standards and annoyance at OpenAI’s hardware push led by former Apple design chief Jony Ive and other ex-Apple executives now working with Sam Altman.

Meta adds hand-gesture writing to Ray-Ban glasses

• Meta is now letting everyone with its Ray-Ban Display smart glasses write messages using just hand gestures, with support across WhatsApp, Messenger, Instagram, and native Android and iOS messaging apps.

• The hand-gesture writing works through the neural wristband included with the Meta Ray-Ban Display, a feature shown off at the glasses’ announcement but held back from the launch lineup until a limited rollout this January.

• Until now, the gesture writing was only in early access for WhatsApp and Messenger, so this update opens it up broadly and pairs it with other additions like display recording, expanded walking directions, and live captions.

Gmail cuts free storage to 5GB

• Google is testing a change that drops the free Gmail storage offer from 15GB to 5GB for new accounts, with the missing 10GB only unlocked once users hand over their contact number.

• The reduced quota, spotted by Android Authority, applies only to fresh signups, while existing accounts without a saved phone number still see the full 15GB shared across Drive, Photos, and Gmail.

• Google did not publicize the shift on its support page until customers found it, later telling the outlet the experiment is framed as a security measure and is currently limited to a few regions.

xAI unveils its first coding agent

• xAI has rolled out Grok Build, a terminal coding agent and CLI aimed at professional software engineering, putting the company in direct competition with tools like Anthropic’s Claude Code.

• The early beta is only open to SuperGrok Heavy subscribers paying $300 per month, who can install it from xAI’s website and sign into their account to get access.

• xAI describes the release as an early beta and says it will take user feedback to improve the product, which arrives after Elon Musk admitted the company had fallen behind rivals on coding.

Ackman’s Pershing Square buys Microsoft stake

• Bill Ackman’s Pershing Square Capital Management has built a new stake in Microsoft, telling investors the market is undervaluing what the software company will gain from artificial intelligence.

• The hedge fund began buying shares in February after Microsoft’s fourth-quarter earnings disappointed, with cloud revenue growth missing forecasts and capital expenditures jumping, and Pershing will disclose the position in a regulatory filing Friday.

• Ackman pointed to Azure and the M365 Office suite, which bundles the Copilot AI assistant at $30 a month, while calling fears about OpenAI’s restructured deal and Microsoft’s $190 billion 2026 spending plan overblown.

Apple adds AI agents to App Store

• Apple is reportedly building a system to fit AI agents into the App Store, with a possible announcement at WWDC next month, though the company may not be ready to share the news yet.

• The system is being designed so agents follow Apple’s privacy and security standards, addressing problems like agents spinning up smaller apps on the spot after Apple has already approved the parent app.

• Apple wants to prevent the freewheeling behavior seen in agentic systems such as OpenClaw, where agents have gone haywire and deleted all of a user’s emails, while protecting App Store fees from being avoided.

US approves 10 Chinese firms to buy Nvidia H200 chip

• The US has approved sales of Nvidia’s H200 AI chips to 10 Chinese companies, though not one chip has actually shipped since President Trump first cleared the deal back in January of this year.

• Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang was added at the last minute to Trump’s Beijing trip, which a former Taiwan legislator said shows the president wants Huang at the table to serve as a bargaining chip in talks.

• Chinese tech firms are leaning more on homegrown semiconductors, signaling to Washington that export curbs haven’t slowed China’s AI progress, while American voters souring on AI could make White House backing for Nvidia harder to defend.

Instagram takes on Snapchat with disappearing photos

• Instagram is rolling out “Instants” worldwide, a new feature that lets users share disappearing photos with Close Friends or mutual followers, putting it in direct competition with Snapchat after a testing period with select users.

• Photos must be taken with Instagram’s in-app camera with no edits or uploads allowed, can be viewed only once, stay available for 24 hours, and recipients can’t screenshot or record them.

• Shared Instants sit in a private archive for up to one year, can be compiled into a recap for Stories, and senders can tap “undo” to unsend an Instant before friends open it.

Anthropic overtakes OpenAI in B2B adoption

• Anthropic has pulled ahead of OpenAI in business AI spending, according to billing platform Ramp, whose AI Index shows Anthropic reaching 34.4 percent of companies while OpenAI dropped slightly to 32.3 percent.

• Anthropic quadrupled its share over the past year, but Ramp economist Ara Kharazian warns of headwinds including complaints about Claude outages and quality, plus the Opus 4.7 model tripling the cost of image processing.

• The Ramp AI Index tracks which companies pay which AI providers through corporate cards or invoices, not actual usage, and it leans heavily toward US firms, so the figures don’t reflect global spending patterns.

LinkedIn cuts 5% of its workforce

• The cuts will affect a sizable share of LinkedIn’s more than 17,500 full-time workers globally, with the move tied to a broader push across the platform to reshape operations around AI.

• LinkedIn’s announcement adds to a heavy year for tech layoffs, with Layoffs.fyi tracking over 103,000 job cuts so far in 2026, closing in on the roughly 124,000 cuts recorded throughout all of 2025.

Google unveils Googlebooks, a new line of AI-native laptops

• Google announced Googlebooks, a fresh line of laptops built around its Gemini AI models, with Acer, Asus, Dell, HP, and Lenovo making the first devices in different shapes and sizes when they launch this fall.

• The laptops include “Magic Pointer,” a Gemini-powered cursor that offers contextual suggestions when you wiggle it, like setting a meeting from a date in an email or visualizing a couch in your living room.

• Googlebooks will succeed the Chromebook 15 years after its debut, marking Google’s shift away from ChromeOS toward an Android-based operating system, and serving as a direct answer to Microsoft’s Copilot+ PCs.

Musk mulled handing OpenAI to his children, Altman testifies

• OpenAI CEO Sam Altman testified this morning that Elon Musk pushed to take control of the company’s for-profit arm in 2017, even suggesting that OpenAI should pass to his children if he died while running it.

• Altman said Musk’s safety plans worried him because OpenAI was meant to keep advanced AI out of any single person’s hands, and he pointed to founders with control who rarely gave it up.

• Altman also said Musk demotivated key researchers by making Greg Brockman and Ilya Sutskever stack rank staff and cut many, damaging the lab’s culture, before Musk left the board to start xAI.

WhatsApp launches Incognito Chat for Meta AI

• WhatsApp rolled out Incognito Chat, a new feature that lets people talk with Meta AI through Private Processing so that Meta itself cannot see the questions users send or the answers the chatbot returns.

• Incognito chats are ephemeral by default and vanish when the session ends, the feature is text-only for now, and Meta says support for image processing and voice recognition is being built.

• WhatsApp also announced “Side Chat with Meta AI,” which lets users privately DM Meta AI about an ongoing text conversation with friends to get suggestions without sharing those interests with the company.

Alexa is moving into Amazon.com

• Amazon is rolling out Alexa for Shopping today, an assistant powered by Alexa Plus that takes over the main search bar on Amazon.com and the app, replacing the previous Rufus AI shopping assistant for all US customers.

• The assistant can set price alerts, compare items, auto-reorder products, track a year of price history, and buy from other websites through the Buy for Me feature, all triggered by typing into the search bar.

• Echo Show 15 and 21 are getting a full visual Amazon store interface that mixes voice and touch, with the Show 8 and 11 following next month, and price alerts will sync between Show devices and the app.

Google taps SpaceX to launch orbital data centers

• Google is in talks to hire SpaceX to launch orbital data centers, according to a Wall Street Journal report citing unnamed sources, even though the two companies are also competing against each other in the same space-based computing market.

• Google is also speaking with other rocket-launch firms about the project, and if no SpaceX deal happens, options could include Blue Origin, Rocket Lab, or the United Launch Alliance, though the Journal did not name which companies Google approached.

• SpaceX recently announced a deal giving Anthropic access to its “Colossus” supercomputer, with Anthropic interested in building “multiple gigawatts of orbital AI compute capacity” since terrestrial power, land, and cooling cannot keep pace with AI demands.

Jensen Huang joins Trump’s China trip

• Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang is now joining President Donald Trump’s trip to China this week, the chipmaker confirmed to CNBC, after earlier reports said the executive had been left off the delegation list.

• According to a source familiar with the situation, Trump called Huang after seeing media coverage of his absence and asked him to come, prompting the CEO to fly to Alaska to board Air Force One.

• Trump is bringing more than a dozen U.S. executives to Beijing, where he is scheduled to meet Chinese President Xi Jinping on Thursday and Friday, with Nvidia saying Huang is attending to support the administration’s goals.

OpenAI launches Daybreak to rival Anthropic Mythos

• The project ships with three models: GPT-5.5 for general-purpose work, GPT-5.5 with Trusted Access for Cyber for defensive security workflows, and GPT-5.5-Cyber for specialized workflows including red teaming and pen testing.

Meta accused of earning billions from scam ads

• Santa Clara County sued Meta on Monday, accusing the company of pocketing billions of dollars from scam ads on Facebook and Instagram while failing to stop fraudulent activity across its platforms at scale.

• The complaint, leaning on leaked internal documents reported by Reuters, claims Meta earned up to $7 billion a year from “high-risk” ads and built internal “guardrails” that limited enforcement when it threatened advertising revenue.

• The county also alleges Meta’s systems pushed scam ads toward users who clicked suspicious promotions, let intermediaries sell protected ad accounts to bad actors, and could even adjust scam ad volumes to hit revenue targets.

Amazon launches 30-minute delivery in US

• Amazon has rolled out “Amazon Now,” a 30-minute delivery service now live in Atlanta, Dallas-Fort Worth, Philadelphia, and Seattle, with plans to expand to Austin, Denver, Houston, Phoenix, and several other US cities soon.

• The service covers fresh groceries, household essentials, healthcare items, electronics, and alcohol where permitted, with eligible products marked by “30-minute delivery” banners on the Amazon app and website around the clock in most areas.

• Prime members pay $3.99 per order versus $13.99 for non-members, plus a small order fee of $1.99 or $3.99 on orders under $15, with smaller fulfillment hubs placed near homes and workplaces to shorten travel distances.

Sutskever spent a year documenting Altman dishonesty

• Former OpenAI chief scientist Ilya Sutskever testified Monday in Elon Musk’s trial against OpenAI and Microsoft that he spent a year gathering evidence of Sam Altman’s alleged deception, even helping draft a memo to the board before Altman’s brief 2023 firing.

• Sutskever revealed an ownership stake in OpenAI’s for-profit arm worth roughly $7 billion, making him one of the largest known individual shareholders, while OpenAI president Greg Brockman acknowledged earlier in the trial that his shares are worth around $30 billion.

Google detects first AI-built zero-day exploit

• While Google doesn’t think Gemini was the model used, the script’s textbook Pythonic format, abundance of educational docstrings, and a hallucinated CVSS score gave away that an LLM helped find and weaponize the vulnerability.

• The report also flags Chinese and North Korean state-sponsored actors leaning on AI, including UNC2814’s persona-driven jailbreak posing the model as a senior security auditor and APT45 sending thousands of repetitive prompts to validate PoC exploits.

OpenAI launches an AI consulting arm

Anthropic blames evil AI fiction for Claude blackmail
