Question 27: You have an application that runs on instances in a Virtual Machine Scale Set. The number of instances in the VMSS is at three starting Monday. The minimum number of instances is one, and the maximum is 5 instances. There are two scaling rules for this VMSS:

RuleConditionAction
Rule1CPU > 75%+1 instance
Rule2CPU < 25%-1 instance

Based on the rules above and the chart below, on Wednesday how many instances will there be in our VMSS?

|CPU%|Time(UTC)|Day |:—|:—:|:—:|—:| |75|12:01|Tuesday| |20|13:36|Tuesday| |85|12:10|Wednesday| |20|19:07|Thursday|

A. 2 instances

B. 3 instances

C. 4 instances

D. 5 instances

ANSWER27:

B

Notes: We start with 3 instances on Monday. Based on the chart we will still be at 3 instances on Tuesday at 12:01 because we have not met a condition for any scaling actions to take place, but then at 13:36 on Tuesday we will scale down an instance due to the CPU% being below 25%. Now we have 2 instances. Then on Wednesday at 12:10 we will be scale-out by one instance because our CPU% has gone above 75%. This gives us three instances on Wednesday.

Question 35: You have an Azure subscription named Subscription1. In Subscription1 you have two VNets, one named VNet-Hub and one named VNet-Spoke. Within VNet-Hub, there is an Azure Firewall with a public IP address, configured as a Standard SKU. In VNet-Spoke, there is a Windows Server 2016 with no public IP address and no Network Security Group (NSG). Using which three items can you utilize the public IP address of the Azure firewall to connect to the Windows Server, without exposing the server to the public internet directly?

A. NAT Rule for the Firewall

B. Route Table

C. Virtual Network Gateway

D. Virtual Network Peering

E. ExpressRoute Gateway

ANSWER35:

A B D

Notes: You can configure a NAT rule on the firewall to translate and filter inbound Internet traffic to your subnets. You will need a route table to route ingress traffic to the firewall virtual appliance. In order for traffic to flow from the VNet-Spoke to VNet-Hub, you will need a peer connection between the virtual networks (Virtual Network Peering).

ANSWER36:

B and D

Notes: VPN tunnels over Microsoft peering can be terminated either using VPN gateway, or using an appropriate Network Virtual Appliance (NVA) available through Azure Marketplace. We choose to use NVA because it accomplishes our goal, but for a lesser cost than Azure VPN Gateway. A route table is required to specify the next hop for traffic coming and going from the on-premises network.

Question 37: You have a Network Security Group (NSG) that is associated with a network interface that is attached to an Azure virtual machine named VM1 running Windows Server 2019. VM1 is in subnet named subnet1, in a virtual network named VNet1. A different NSG is attached to subnet1, but you notice that there is an inbound rule to allow port 3389. When you try to connect to VM1, you cannot connect. You reviewed the NSG and the source IP address and the protocol are correct. How can you connect to VM1 using best practices for NSGs in Azure?

A. The protocol on the NSG rule is set to UDP

B. The NSG attached to the network interface needs to be removed

C. The source IP address on the NSG rule is incorrect

D. You need to add an inbound rule for the NSG attached to the network interface

ANSWER37:

B

Notes: Removing the NSG from the network interface would allow the VM to use the NSG associated with the subnet, which is best practice.

Question 38: You have an Azure subscription named Subscription1. In Subscription1 you have an Azure VM named VM1 with Windows Server 2019 as the operating system. VM1 does not have a public IP address assigned to it. VM1 is located in a virtual network named VNet1, in subnet1. Attached to subnet1 is a Network Security Group (NSG) that has port 3389 open inbound. On your local machine, you do not have an RDP client installed, but you need to login into the VM. Without assigning a public IP address to the VM, what three things in combination can we use to log into VM1?

A. HTML5 supported Web Browser

B. Azure VPN Gateway

C. A subnet named AzureBastionSubnet

D. A Gateway Subnet

E. Azure Bastion Host

F. Inbound security rule to open port 443

ANSWER38:

A C E

Notes: The RDP connection to the virtual machine happens via Bastion host using the Azure portal (over HTML5) using port 443 and the Bastion service.

The subnet inside your virtual network to which the Bastion resource will be deployed must have the name AzureBastionSubnet. The name lets Azure know which subnet to deploy the Bastion resource to. This is different than a Gateway Subnet.

The Azure Bastion service is a new fully platform-managed PaaS service that you provision inside your virtual network. It provides secure and seamless RDP/SSH connectivity to your virtual machines directly in the Azure portal over TLS. When you connect via Azure Bastion, your virtual machines do not need a public IP address.

Question 50: You have two subscriptions, one named Subscription1 and the other named Subscription2. Both subscriptions are located within the same tenant. You have one Azure virtual machine located within Subscription1 and another Azure virtual machine within Subscription2 and you’d like to view CPU utilization metrics on both virtual machines. How can you achieve this while maintaining the minimum number of Azure resources and minimizing cost?

A. Create a Log Analytics Workspace for both VMs

B.Turn on VM Insights in Azure Monitor

C. Install the Log Analytics (OMS) Agent on the VMs

D. Enable guest-level monitoring on each VM

ANSWER50:

A and B

Notes: You can view metrics data (such as CPU utilization %) over time by sending your metrics data to a log analytics workspace. This workspace can collect metrics data from multiple VMs, no matter if they are located in the same or different subscriptions.

VM integration with Azure Monitor Logs delivers powerful aggregation and filtering, allowing Azure Monitor for VMs to analyze data trends over time. You can view this data in a single VM from the virtual machine directly, or you can use Azure Monitor to deliver an aggregated view of your VMs where the view supports Azure resource-context or workspace-context modes.

Question 51: You have created a new Azure virtual machine named VM1. You plan to use VM1 as a web server, which will require the VM to be accessible using HTTP/S (HTTP and HTTPS) protocol. A Network Security Group (NSG) is attached to the NIC of VM1 with the following rules:

Priority|Name|Port|Protocol|SRC|DEST|Action| |:—|:—:|:—:|:—:|:—:|:—:|—:| |300|Rule2|80|TCP|Any|Any|Deny| |400|Rule1|443|TCP|Any|Any|Deny| |500|Rule4|60-500|TCP|Any|Any|Allow| |600|Rule5|22|TCP|72.166.177.14/32|Any|Deny| |1000|Rule3|22|TCP|Any|Any|Allow|

What changes do you have to make to the NSG in order to meet the requirements for VM1?

A. Change the priority of Rule3 to 200

B. Change the action of Rule1 to Allow

C. Change the priority of Rule4 to 200

D. Change the port of Rule5 to 443

ANSWER51:

C

Notes: Lower priority rules take precedence over higher ones. Changing Rule4 to a lower number will negate all the other rules of a lesser priority, therefore allowing traffic on ports 60-500, which includes 80 and 443, the ports necessary for allowing traffic over HTTP/S. Remember the lower the priority the priority number the higher the priority in regards to reading the rules.

  • What would be a suitable starter server for a medium sized discord bot?
by /u/BirnitheConquerer (Microsoft Azure) on May 20, 2022 at 10:05 pm

Hello, i am just starting to dive into the world of Azure. A friend asked me to make a simple discord bot for their medium sized server (3050 messages a day on average so it will sit idle most of the time!). I got the 150 bucks/month from my corporations VS 22 enterprise subscription so i thought it would be cool to use this free money to help a friend and gain some knowledge in a cool, new and upcoming field. As said above the bot would sit idle most of the time and the way discord bots work, is that the discord servers do the main operational lifting so the server probably wont need much resources overall. For now the bot is only supposed to be a simple command bot with some cool extra stuff for the comments. Therefore the main priorities are ram > cpu power > storage space. My take for now is that 8 GB of vram, some vcpu and 10 to 20 GB storage space would be enough for the start. Going with linux as thats cheaper according to the online calculator. Which pricemodel / virtuall server do i take to get the most bang out of my buck, there are so many different ones? Its important to me that this wont hit the 150 bucks / month cap so noone has to pay for anything. submitted by /u/BirnitheConquerer [link] [comments]

On a SQL Server resource, Under Security section and in Auditing you can specify a location for the SQL Auditing data. Can you send to two Log Analytics locations? Doesn't seem like it in the portal and tested a few ways in powershell. This seems like something that should be possible. submitted by /u/d3fnotarandomnam3 [link] [comments]

  • JSON for new CategoryGroup options in Diags Logs instead of Individual Categories
by /u/d3fnotarandomnam3 (Microsoft Azure) on May 20, 2022 at 6:07 pm

I have some json code that enables and configures diagnostic metrics and logs on certain resources. You typically have individual Categories you can check off and in code it looks like this: "logs": [ { "category": "OperationalLogs", "enabled": true } However, for some of the resources they have introduced Category groups so in the diags settings you can check off something that will enable multiple, and even an allLogs option. I'm trying to figure out how to update the code for this. Anyone have any examples of how this would look in code? And how would you reverse engineer this to find out? For example if you do it manually in the portal first how would you script out the diagnostic settings? submitted by /u/d3fnotarandomnam3 [link] [comments]

  • Web Application Firewall with Web app
by /u/glabel35 (Microsoft Azure) on May 20, 2022 at 4:35 pm

Trying to get a WAF in front of a Web app following this guide Manage traffic to App Service - Azure Application Gateway | Microsoft Docs About the WebApp: I've purchased a cert and uploaded it to a keyvault. I added a custom domain to the webapp and the cert is delivered via the key vault. When DNS is pointing to the webapp external ip, everything works. Access restriction is on and I have added a rule to allow the WAF subnet through a service endpoint. The endpoint status is enabled. About the WAF: Its in a dedicated subnet. Clients are hitting it via public IP. It is already working with a Azure VM via another listener and backend pool. No issues with this. I have added a new listener/backendpool/route per the URL guide above. The new listener is using the same cert I purchased for the web app via the keyvault. I changed the DNS for the custom domain to the WAF and resolution is as expected. When I get to the custom probe and do a backend health check I get "With the WAF Custom probe pointing to the custom domain I'm getting " Cannot connect to backend server. Check whether any NSG/UDR/Firewall is blocking access to the server. Check if application is running on correct port. "" I've added an inbound rule for the web app's outgoing IPs to the WAF subnet. It allows TCP 443 to the WAF subnet CIDR. Outgoing on this subnet is not blocked but for fun I added an outgoing allow from the subnet to the incoming ip of the web app. I've also tried stuff like allowing gateway manager to "AppService.RegiontheWebAPPisin" When I browse to my custom URL I get a cert warning and it looks like its presenting the cert from the other listener on the WAF. So I double checked the custom domain listener for the webapp and its using the correct cert. So i have multiple problems possibly. WAF listener is not assigning incoming custom domain requests to the appropriate cert and the WAF doesn't seem to be able to connect to the backend WebAPP. Any ideas or resources? FYI: Troubleshoot Bad Gateway errors - Azure Application Gateway | Microsoft Docs only seems to address the health probe warning from the context of a VM being the backend target. submitted by /u/glabel35 [link] [comments]

  • HP Workpath Printer setup to Microsoft Universal Print
by /u/Sauce_Boss5 (Microsoft Azure) on May 20, 2022 at 4:35 pm

HP seems to be priding themselves with their Workpath app, but there's no guides or documentation on setting up or installing the Workpath app directly. Most the guides I find are in relation to using the connector app, but with Workpath supposedly its not needed. Does anyone know how to get the workpath app configured to connect with Universal print? submitted by /u/Sauce_Boss5 [link] [comments]

  • How long did it take you to start learning a course to getting your certs?
by /u/undertheinfluenceof (Microsoft Azure Certifications) on May 20, 2022 at 3:27 pm

Just out of total curiosity, how long did it take any of you to begin studying for, say, AZ-900 to passing the final exam? (Does not have to be AZ-900, but any of your certs.) I am totally curious about time-frames and what a realistic expectation it should take. I also know timelines will vary depending on experience. submitted by /u/undertheinfluenceof [link] [comments]

  • Azure Data Factory w/ SHIR BCDR
by /u/nomadconsultant (Microsoft Azure) on May 20, 2022 at 3:27 pm

Drafting an ADF BCDR strategy. I have multiple ADFs sharing one ADF's SHIR resource in prod and am using private endpoints. All the ADFs are linked to Github and point to a single storage account. For my BCDR strategy, I am pre-staging the same config into DR. During a failover, I should be able to just turn DR on. What gotchas should I be considering? What kind of failover process should I look at? Documentation on this is scant at the moment. If you find anything please send my way submitted by /u/nomadconsultant [link] [comments]

  • How to create labs for AZ-104?
by /u/Real_Lemon8789 (Microsoft Azure Certifications) on May 20, 2022 at 3:25 pm

I have an Azure Developer tenant that includes Microsoft licensing, but does not include any subscription credits. I had opened a free Azure trial last year with a different tenant and never used it. So, the $200 subscription credit expired and got wasted in the first 30 days. Is there another way to get a 30 day trial of subscription credits and apply it to the developer tenant I have now or else create a separate tenant with $200 credit to use for AZ-104 test prep? I was also planning to use GitHub labs related to AZ-104, but I don’t understand how to use that. I went to the GitHub page and I just see links on the page to a bunch of files. I don’t see any explanation of what to do with all those file links. submitted by /u/Real_Lemon8789 [link] [comments]

  • Cert suggestions?
by /u/SENDMEYOURROBOTDICKS (Microsoft Azure Certifications) on May 20, 2022 at 8:22 am

Hey guys, I was wondering if anyone could suggest which certs i should try to tackle after getting AZ-900. A bit about myself: I have about 8 years of experience as a support engineer with mostly on-premises experience with Windows Servers, Microsoft Exchange. I've had some entry-level experience with networking and i haven't done much automation yet. I'm planning to fill that gap in and start using Powershell, Python and move towards a role that resembles an SRE. Is it worth getting the AZ-104 certification, or should i move directly towards AZ-204 and AZ-400? submitted by /u/SENDMEYOURROBOTDICKS [link] [comments]
