[Homemade] – Food you made. This includes food made from scratch, or food assembled from pre-made ingredients.
[Pro/Chef] – You work in a food-related industry and made it. Chefs, pastry chefs, bakers, butcher, sous chef, and food photographers all fit into this category.
[I ate] – You went to a place and most likely exchanged money to eat this. This tag includes restaurants, food trucks, etc.
Pure Food and Wine:
Everyone knows that food is important. It’s one of the basic necessities of life, after all. But what exactly is “food”? It’s not just the stuff that you buy at the grocery store or order at a restaurant. It’s also the meals that you eat at home, and even the snacks that you enjoy between meals. In short, food is anything that you eat or drink to nourish your body.
But not all food is created equal. Some foods are better for you than others, and some are even downright bad for your health. That’s why it’s important to be choosy about what you eat. And one way to do that is to make sure that you’re eating pure food.
So what exactly is pure food? Simply put, it’s food that has been made without the use of any artificial additives or chemicals. This means that pure food is free from pesticides, herbicides, growth hormones, and other harmful substances. It’s also usually organic, meaning that it was grown without the use of synthetic fertilizers or genetic engineering. In short, pure food is the kind of food that nature intended for us to eat.
If you’re looking for pure food, your best bet is to stick with homemade meals made from fresh, whole ingredients. But if you don’t have time to cook at home, there are plenty of restaurants and eateries that serve pure, healthy cuisine. Just make sure to do your research so that you can be sure you’re getting the real deal. After all, your health is worth it!
8 major food allergens:
Everyone has different dietary needs and restrictions. Some people are vegetarian, some people are kosher, and some people have food allergies. While it is possible to accommodate all of these diets, it can be difficult to keep track of everything. That’s why it’s important to know the top 8 major food allergens. This way, you can be sure that everyone will be able to enjoy your homemade cuisine or go out to eat without worry.
The top 8 major food allergens are: milk, eggs, peanuts, tree nuts, fish, shellfish, soy, and wheat. If you or someone you know has a food allergy, it is important to avoid these ingredients. However, that doesn’t mean that you have to miss out on all the fun. There are plenty of delicious recipes that don’t use any of these ingredients. So whether you’re cooking for yourself or for a group, you can rest assured that everyone will be able to enjoy your meal.
These eight items are responsible for the vast majority of serious allergic reactions in the United States. If you have a severe allergy to one of these foods, it’s important to be careful when eating out or consuming homemade meals. Some restaurants are better than others at accommodating allergies, but it’s always best to err on the side of caution. By being aware of the top eight major food allergens, you can help keep yourself safe and healthy.

- [Homemade] Nashville Gutter Friesby /u/Ashangu (Food Photos on Reddit) on January 19, 2026 at 1:25 am
These things were something else, man. I got the idea while high. Thought I wanted some loaded fries but then thought about Nashville chicken in mac n cheese. So I said screw it. The additional extra ingredient is the Mac noodle, otherwise its just cheese fries right? Lol The Nashville chicken was deep fried using the double dredge method, refrigerated between dredge for 10 minutes. I wanted to insure that the breading would stick very well. It was HOT hot. Just like we liked it. We have never made slaw before so we found a recipe and did not follow it, like at all. We saw the ingredients and jist started throwing things together and not measuring and damn, one of the best slaws ive ever made lol. Can't give the ingredients for the singular objects but ill give you the main picture here lol. Ingredients: Homemade sweet southern slaw Homemade Nashville hot chicken Mac n cheese (main st bistro signature) Shoe string French fries (idaho). Homemade buttermilk ranch. Topped with green onion for color and flavor. 10/10 chef level drunk food lol submitted by /u/Ashangu [link] [comments]

I basically never cook so I don't know what's important and what isn't. My box of hamburger helper says I should use a 5 quart saute pan. My saute pan is only 3 quart, will this suffice? I don't think it's a huge amount but maybe; it's the "value size" amount that requires 1+1/2 pound of ground beef (but Im only using 1 pound) submitted by /u/TJ_JTG [link] [comments]

- Lunch ideas to feed 10 people, no cooking but also not just ordering takeout?by /u/Strawberry2772 (FoodHacks) on January 17, 2026 at 5:29 pm
I'm planning a trip for friends and need to feed everyone lunch on our travel day once we arrive. I really don't want to have to do any legit cooking (I will be doing enough of it the rest of the weekend) but I also don't want to make everyone buy food out since we're also doing that for a few other meals. Anything that I can just...kind of like prep, without needing to actually cook? Something frozen/pre-cooked from the grocery store could maybe be work too. Just looking for ideas. Thanks! ETA: please don't say cold sandwiches lol. I know it's the obvious solution but a cold turkey/cheese sandwich sounds so unappealing to me submitted by /u/Strawberry2772 [link] [comments]

- Stop fizzy drinks from losing the fizz once openedby /u/ninpuukamui (FoodHacks) on January 16, 2026 at 5:06 pm
Squeeze as much of the bottle as you can to bring the liquid as high as you can in the bottle, leaving as little air as possible on the top. Then, screw the cap as hard as you can. The fizz usually leaves the liquid to enter the lower pressure air area, so if you remove that, the fizz stays. This wouldn't have been possible with the bottles that were used in my youth, but th6is new flimsy bottles work great. submitted by /u/ninpuukamui [link] [comments]

- Put the lettuce at the bottom of your burgers!by /u/EarPsychological2530 (FoodHacks) on January 14, 2026 at 6:59 pm
I discovered something very clever for your burgers, especially if you’ve put sauce on them. If you have, always put the lettuce on the bottom of the burger. By not doing so, the sauce can leak and actually destroy the bottom bun. The lettuce can help to stop the sauce from leaking through the bun. submitted by /u/EarPsychological2530 [link] [comments]
- Mason genie questionsby /u/luckiestgiraffe (FoodHacks) on January 14, 2026 at 6:38 pm
I go though a lot of ziploc bags, but I'm trying to use less plastic, and avoid food waste. I use a mason genie for dry foods storage, and I'm starting to experiment with food that is refrigerated or frozen. I'd love to have the benefit of other people's experiences so that I don't waste a lot of food. I've done cut and uncut salad veggies, prepared bean salad, shredded cheese, and coffee beans. So here are the foods I'm thinking about: Uncut bananas and avocados that are ripe before I'm ready for them. Can I slow them down?? Tofu. I open a package but only use about 50%. Can I seal the rest for 5-7 days? Opened can of salmon or tuna, same problem as tofu. I'd like to have more time before I eat it again. Cooked brown rice. I make a large batch, refrigerate it, and eat it all week, but now I'm told that's risky. Can I seal it in meal size portions? Please tell me if you've tried any of these, and how they turned out. And if you have other mason genie tips and tricks i'd love to hear about them. submitted by /u/luckiestgiraffe [link] [comments]
