[Homemade] – Food you made. This includes food made from scratch, or food assembled from pre-made ingredients.
[Pro/Chef] – You work in a food-related industry and made it. Chefs, pastry chefs, bakers, butcher, sous chef, and food photographers all fit into this category.
[I ate] – You went to a place and most likely exchanged money to eat this. This tag includes restaurants, food trucks, etc.
Pure Food and Wine:
Everyone knows that food is important. It’s one of the basic necessities of life, after all. But what exactly is “food”? It’s not just the stuff that you buy at the grocery store or order at a restaurant. It’s also the meals that you eat at home, and even the snacks that you enjoy between meals. In short, food is anything that you eat or drink to nourish your body.
But not all food is created equal. Some foods are better for you than others, and some are even downright bad for your health. That’s why it’s important to be choosy about what you eat. And one way to do that is to make sure that you’re eating pure food.
So what exactly is pure food? Simply put, it’s food that has been made without the use of any artificial additives or chemicals. This means that pure food is free from pesticides, herbicides, growth hormones, and other harmful substances. It’s also usually organic, meaning that it was grown without the use of synthetic fertilizers or genetic engineering. In short, pure food is the kind of food that nature intended for us to eat.
If you’re looking for pure food, your best bet is to stick with homemade meals made from fresh, whole ingredients. But if you don’t have time to cook at home, there are plenty of restaurants and eateries that serve pure, healthy cuisine. Just make sure to do your research so that you can be sure you’re getting the real deal. After all, your health is worth it!
8 major food allergens:
Everyone has different dietary needs and restrictions. Some people are vegetarian, some people are kosher, and some people have food allergies. While it is possible to accommodate all of these diets, it can be difficult to keep track of everything. That’s why it’s important to know the top 8 major food allergens. This way, you can be sure that everyone will be able to enjoy your homemade cuisine or go out to eat without worry.
The top 8 major food allergens are: milk, eggs, peanuts, tree nuts, fish, shellfish, soy, and wheat. If you or someone you know has a food allergy, it is important to avoid these ingredients. However, that doesn’t mean that you have to miss out on all the fun. There are plenty of delicious recipes that don’t use any of these ingredients. So whether you’re cooking for yourself or for a group, you can rest assured that everyone will be able to enjoy your meal.
These eight items are responsible for the vast majority of serious allergic reactions in the United States. If you have a severe allergy to one of these foods, it’s important to be careful when eating out or consuming homemade meals. Some restaurants are better than others at accommodating allergies, but it’s always best to err on the side of caution. By being aware of the top eight major food allergens, you can help keep yourself safe and healthy.

- These One-Pot Dinners Make Clean-Up *So* Easyby Alexis deBoschnek (Food52) on October 3, 2023 at 2:59 pm
This holiday season, we’re teaming up with our friends at Finish, the #1 recommended dishwashing brand in America*, to share some of our favorite one-pot dinners that make cooking—and cleaning up—easy as can be. There’s a reason one-pot (and pan!) meals have skyrocketed in popularity in the last few years. The tenets of these dishes are simple. They must come together in one cooking vessel, whether it be a Dutch oven, cast-iron skillet, or baking sheet. They must not have long ingredient lists—that would defeat the point—and, of course, they must be delicious. Read More >>

- 5 Weeknight Dinners That Keep Cooking Funby Paul Hagopian (Food52) on October 2, 2023 at 9:49 pm
I’m looking for one thing when making a weeknight dinner: joy. For breakfast and lunch, I’m content with consuming an amalgamation of soulless fodder—premade salads, frozen food, anything piled into a cardboard bowl—so long as I regain some humanity in the final meal of my day. When searching for that joy, I primarily lean on nostalgia. Typically, I want a part of the meal—whether it be the process or final flavor—to transport me somewhere I love. Sometimes it’s recreating a dish from childhood (I’ve been on a Sloppy Joe kick), and other times it’s as simple as using a technique I learned from a friend, like breaking down a chicken. - Does anyone know…?by /u/Skittles2410 (FoodHacks) on October 2, 2023 at 9:25 pm
Hi! The food pantry I am close to always has canned tuna! It’s such a great source of Protein with low calories. However, I hate the smell of it which then affects the taste. All I have is almond milk at the moment. Does anyone know that if I soak the fish in almond milk it will get rid of the funky smell/taste. I have heard the rumor that cows milk will do this but I don’t have that on hand. Thank you! UPDATE: thank you all for the suggestions! The next time I am able to go to the store I’ll try picking up some of the things y’all suggested! I really appreciate it! submitted by /u/Skittles2410 [link] [comments]

- r/Food Community Feedback: Blog Rule Changesby /u/Sun_Beams (Welcome to /r/Food on Reddit!) on October 2, 2023 at 12:50 pm
Dear r/food Community, The mods have been pondering some significant changes to our subreddit rules, and we believe it's crucial to involve you, our valued members, in this discussion. Here's what's on the table: Proposed Change: Moving from a spam domain filter to a domain Whitelist. With restrictions, allow users to link to their own food blogs. Whitelist Implementation: We're considering shifting from our current spam filter list to a whitelist system. Through an application system this change would allow individuals with food-based blogs to share their blog links within comments. They will be subject to the below conditions: Blogs ad presence: To maintain a high-quality experience, blogs must not be excessively cluttered with advertisements. User Interaction Requirement: We want to encourage genuine engagement. Users sharing blog links must actively participate in discussions and not just drop links and leave. Recipe Sharing: Alongside any links, a written recipe must be provided to add value to the community. Image Posts Unchanged: Posts will remain image only. Content with overlaid text and graphics will still be removed, with the exception of subtle "u/username" style watermarks. Original Content Policy: Blogs must be original content (OC). We will continue to disallow stolen, stock, or AI-generated images. Any user previously banned for self-promotion of their blog, who thinks they could pass the above requirements, can be unbanned by sending us an application to post their blog links. Any user that broke additional sub rules, in addition to self-promotion of a blog, will have to appeal their ban following the appeals process in our wiki. We're committed to preserving the quality and authenticity of our subreddit while exploring ways to include valuable content from the food blogging community. Your input will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of r/food so please share your feedback in the comments below. Together, we'll ensure that r/food remains a delectable destination for all things culinary. Thank you for being part of our vibrant community. Sincerely, The r/food Mod Team submitted by /u/Sun_Beams [link] [comments]

- Best way to fluff rice?by /u/robgriff69 (FoodHacks) on October 1, 2023 at 8:34 pm
Currently use a rice cooker and I prefer fried rice. I'm having better results with basmati over jasmine, but I feel I'm not fluffing the rice well enough before frying. My rice comes out of the cooker like a rice cake, is my mistake in the cooking process ( I rinse well before cooking) or am I not fluffing it correctly after cooking ? I tend to let it cool for an hour or two before refrigerating and then try to seperate/fluff submitted by /u/robgriff69 [link] [comments]

- Anyone have any suggestions?by /u/29fns82n (FoodHacks) on September 30, 2023 at 9:47 pm
I'm trying to lose weight an need a post work and pre gym snack preferably something low in calories and high in protein Currently I'm thinking some fruit with yogurt. I don't tend to buy fresh fruit as it goes out of date really quickly and I don't have the time to to shopping every other day just for an apple. I've bought some frozen fruit - a pack of mangos, a pack of exotic fruits (mix of a few different things) and a pack of a Berry smoothie mix. I've tried the Berry smoothie mix (after defrosting in the microwave) with yogurt and I really didn't like it - most likely because it was a smoothie mix and not meant for the way I had it. Anyone have any suggestions on how I can defrost the other two without them getting soggy? I'm open to ideas for something completely different... literally anything. submitted by /u/29fns82n [link] [comments]
