[Homemade] – Food you made. This includes food made from scratch, or food assembled from pre-made ingredients.
[Pro/Chef] – You work in a food-related industry and made it. Chefs, pastry chefs, bakers, butcher, sous chef, and food photographers all fit into this category.
[I ate] – You went to a place and most likely exchanged money to eat this. This tag includes restaurants, food trucks, etc.
Pure Food and Wine:
Everyone knows that food is important. It’s one of the basic necessities of life, after all. But what exactly is “food”? It’s not just the stuff that you buy at the grocery store or order at a restaurant. It’s also the meals that you eat at home, and even the snacks that you enjoy between meals. In short, food is anything that you eat or drink to nourish your body.
But not all food is created equal. Some foods are better for you than others, and some are even downright bad for your health. That’s why it’s important to be choosy about what you eat. And one way to do that is to make sure that you’re eating pure food.
So what exactly is pure food? Simply put, it’s food that has been made without the use of any artificial additives or chemicals. This means that pure food is free from pesticides, herbicides, growth hormones, and other harmful substances. It’s also usually organic, meaning that it was grown without the use of synthetic fertilizers or genetic engineering. In short, pure food is the kind of food that nature intended for us to eat.
If you’re looking for pure food, your best bet is to stick with homemade meals made from fresh, whole ingredients. But if you don’t have time to cook at home, there are plenty of restaurants and eateries that serve pure, healthy cuisine. Just make sure to do your research so that you can be sure you’re getting the real deal. After all, your health is worth it!
8 major food allergens:
Everyone has different dietary needs and restrictions. Some people are vegetarian, some people are kosher, and some people have food allergies. While it is possible to accommodate all of these diets, it can be difficult to keep track of everything. That’s why it’s important to know the top 8 major food allergens. This way, you can be sure that everyone will be able to enjoy your homemade cuisine or go out to eat without worry.
The top 8 major food allergens are: milk, eggs, peanuts, tree nuts, fish, shellfish, soy, and wheat. If you or someone you know has a food allergy, it is important to avoid these ingredients. However, that doesn’t mean that you have to miss out on all the fun. There are plenty of delicious recipes that don’t use any of these ingredients. So whether you’re cooking for yourself or for a group, you can rest assured that everyone will be able to enjoy your meal.
These eight items are responsible for the vast majority of serious allergic reactions in the United States. If you have a severe allergy to one of these foods, it’s important to be careful when eating out or consuming homemade meals. Some restaurants are better than others at accommodating allergies, but it’s always best to err on the side of caution. By being aware of the top eight major food allergens, you can help keep yourself safe and healthy.

- Can anyone recommend any soft or liquid foods for my upset stomach? Unfortunately, it's going on day 2 and all I've managed to keep down is peach yoplait, a chocolate pudding cup, and 6 tablespoons of Amy's barley vegetable soupby /u/Mary_Pick_A_Ford (FoodHacks) on December 5, 2023 at 1:47 am
I managed to go grocery shopping without throwing up from food smells. Right now, high fat foods like fried chicken, hamburgers, hotdogs make me want to gag. I started off buying some pepto bismo, a couple of cold gatorades(I've been drinking water exclusively for 48 hours and I knew I needed some electrolytes), an Amy's barley soup, three strawberry and peach yogurts, and some chocolate pudding just for the sake of getting something in my stomach that I knew I wasn't going to throw up. I live alone without anyone helping me so I'm kinda just by myself suffering. Any soft food recommendations would be welcome when I go back to the store tomorrow. submitted by /u/Mary_Pick_A_Ford [link] [comments]

- are these leftovers safe?by /u/SituationWild2630 (FoodHacks) on December 4, 2023 at 10:06 am
I’m writing this on Monday. I made some egg noodle pasta with a store-bought jar cream sauce, garlic, butter, & some parmesan cheese on Saturday morning. I cooked the pasta, sauced it & cheesed it & baked it in the oven at 400 for around 20 minutes. It sat out around 30 minutes to cool and immediately went into fridge, has stayed in there since. I stored it in the fridge in a shallow ceramic container and tightly wrapped the top with aluminum foil. Our fridge stays at 36 degrees farenheit. Is it safe to eat today on Monday after being made Saturday? submitted by /u/SituationWild2630 [link] [comments]

- Seeking Wisdom for Those Too Exhausted to Cook: Cheaper Takeout Options?by /u/trekkerxxx (FoodHacks) on December 4, 2023 at 2:49 am
I'm a huge fan of convenience, especially after long workdays in LA, but my budget is feeling the pinch from my takeout habit. Does anyone have tips on how to save money on takeout without sacrificing those delightful, no-cook evenings? I've tried a few things like looking for specials, using promo codes, and even alternating between different apps to find the best deals. But I wonder if there are more strategies out there. I'd love to hear how you balance the convenience of takeout with staying frugal. Are there lesser-known apps or local hacks I should know about? Maybe a magic formula to get the best bang for my buck? Or if you don't order takeout, how did you guys strike the balance between convenience, taste, and affordability? Appreciate any advice or personal stories you can share! submitted by /u/trekkerxxx [link] [comments]

If you buy spring onions and want to keep them for longer; stick them in a mug with a touch of water near a window. Not only will they last longer the spring onions will continue to grow. You have to make sure the base doesn't begin to rot. Allowing them to dry out for a day should help with this. - Best way to eat PopTarts!by /u/Maleficent-Snow5678 (FoodHacks) on December 2, 2023 at 1:31 am
So when I was younger, my grandma would get me to school some days. She would put a PopTart in the toaster for me to have for breakfast in the ride to school. Standard fare I would say for for a kid in the 90s. But my husband just said I am extremely weird, because I made my self a PopTart as an after dinner snack. I made it just like my grandma did, I toasted it, then I put it frosted side down on a paper plate and proceeded to butter the crust side. He says it is absolutely disgusting! While I am older and wiser now and know how unhealthy it is, it wasn’t like I grabbed it out the door on my way to work! I was having it as a treat! Anyone else butter their PopTarts? If you don’t and want to try, I HIGHLY recommend the brown sugar one 1st! They are the best! Also strawberry is a close second! The newer wilder flavors don’t do as well IMO. Except “S’mores” flavor isn’t bad. And neither is the chocolate fudge ones if you’re feeling really indulgent! LOL submitted by /u/Maleficent-Snow5678 [link] [comments]

- A Holiday-Ready Espresso Martini (& More Festive Drinks to Savor This Season)by Nicole Davis (Food52) on December 1, 2023 at 3:41 pm
December is like a game of Jenga. I start off strong, ready to accept every holiday invitation and family commitment. But as I attend each holiday dinner, party, and gift exchange, a little piece of me diminishes, until I finally crumple into a pile of exhaustion—otherwise known as Dry January. One obvious way to keep it together this season is to be more mindful about drinking, not necessarily by cutting out booze, but by building in time to savor every festive drink. Re-centering yourself with a cup or glass in hand is a universal tradition: The Italians enjoy apertivo hour, Scandinavians make time each day for fika—coffee and cake—and millions of people from England to Japan have rituals around tea, be it a late afternoon cuppa or a ceremony. Spread the rolls in a round pan making sure not to over crowd them. Pour approximately 1/4 cup of heavy cream (also known as whipping cream) on top of and in between the rolls. Bake as usual. Ill never skip this step again, they come out twice the size and fluffy. submitted by /u/nothankyouma [link] [comments]

- Poparts.by /u/LumpiestEntree (FoodHacks) on December 1, 2023 at 2:47 am
Update: I took someone's advice and made a bread pudding. It was not amazing but was way better than I expected it to be. I do not advise wasting money on this. So unless you have a large amount of squished and almost expired pop tarts I don't recommend it. Recipe : 30 ish strawberry pop tarts. 2 cups milk 2 eggs 1/2 strawberry jelly. Mix the liquids. Dump over crushed pop tarts. Bake 350 degrees for 30-40 minutes. I was given an excessive amount of pop tarts. I don't really eat breakfast and don't eat them as snacks. Is there any way to repurpose them into another meal/dessert submitted by /u/LumpiestEntree [link] [comments]

I meal prep these breakfast sandwiches to help lose weight and everything but I’m running into issues when I take them out of the freezer. I warm them up and it’s like they got done taking a bath. Just soaked in water. How do I fix this? Do I let the egg whites cool off for a few hours? Or am I just going to always get watery results? submitted by /u/Suspicious_Usual_109 [link] [comments]

- To freeze or not to freeze: soft cheese like Brie & Camembert?by /u/ButterMyParsnip (FoodHacks) on November 30, 2023 at 6:05 am
Ideally, I would always buy these fresh. Duh. But I work in a shop where near-to-expiry products get drastically reduced in price. On top of that, I get employee discount. I can pick up some really tasty cheeses for often less than 60p (less than a dollar). But this tends to happen towards the end of the day, and as someone who plans meals ahead of time, I don't necessarily have room to eat them in the next 48 hours or less. All I can find on Google is basically "taste will be fine, but texture might be compromised". The whole point of soft cheeses is for.... well, the soft and gooey-ness. Thoughts? submitted by /u/ButterMyParsnip [link] [comments]
