[Homemade] – Food you made. This includes food made from scratch, or food assembled from pre-made ingredients.

[Pro/Chef] – You work in a food-related industry and made it. Chefs, pastry chefs, bakers, butcher, sous chef, and food photographers all fit into this category.

[I ate] – You went to a place and most likely exchanged money to eat this. This tag includes restaurants, food trucks, etc.

Pure Food and Wine:

Everyone knows that food is important. It’s one of the basic necessities of life, after all. But what exactly is “food”? It’s not just the stuff that you buy at the grocery store or order at a restaurant. It’s also the meals that you eat at home, and even the snacks that you enjoy between meals. In short, food is anything that you eat or drink to nourish your body.

But not all food is created equal. Some foods are better for you than others, and some are even downright bad for your health. That’s why it’s important to be choosy about what you eat. And one way to do that is to make sure that you’re eating pure food.

So what exactly is pure food? Simply put, it’s food that has been made without the use of any artificial additives or chemicals. This means that pure food is free from pesticides, herbicides, growth hormones, and other harmful substances. It’s also usually organic, meaning that it was grown without the use of synthetic fertilizers or genetic engineering. In short, pure food is the kind of food that nature intended for us to eat.

AI Unraveled: Demystifying Frequently Asked Questions on Artificial Intelligence (OpenAI, ChatGPT, Google Gemini, Generative AI, Discriminative AI, xAI, LLMs, GPUs, Machine Learning, NLP, Promp Engineering)

If you’re looking for pure food, your best bet is to stick with homemade meals made from fresh, whole ingredients. But if you don’t have time to cook at home, there are plenty of restaurants and eateries that serve pure, healthy cuisine. Just make sure to do your research so that you can be sure you’re getting the real deal. After all, your health is worth it!

8 major food allergens:

Everyone has different dietary needs and restrictions. Some people are vegetarian, some people are kosher, and some people have food allergies. While it is possible to accommodate all of these diets, it can be difficult to keep track of everything. That’s why it’s important to know the top 8 major food allergens. This way, you can be sure that everyone will be able to enjoy your homemade cuisine or go out to eat without worry.

The top 8 major food allergens are: milk, eggs, peanuts, tree nuts, fish, shellfish, soy, and wheat. If you or someone you know has a food allergy, it is important to avoid these ingredients. However, that doesn’t mean that you have to miss out on all the fun. There are plenty of delicious recipes that don’t use any of these ingredients. So whether you’re cooking for yourself or for a group, you can rest assured that everyone will be able to enjoy your meal.

These eight items are responsible for the vast majority of serious allergic reactions in the United States. If you have a severe allergy to one of these foods, it’s important to be careful when eating out or consuming homemade meals. Some restaurants are better than others at accommodating allergies, but it’s always best to err on the side of caution. By being aware of the top eight major food allergens, you can help keep yourself safe and healthy.

  • Product & Pantry Picks Our Founder Is Loving
by Amanda Hesser (Food52) on March 26, 2025 at 6:30 pm

Welcome to the latest edition of Food52 Founder Amanda Hesser’s weekly newsletter, Hey There, It’s Amanda, packed with food, travel, and shopping tips, Food52 doings, and other matters that catch her eye. Get inspired—sign up here for her emails. A few weeks ago, I included a photo of me standing on heater vents during a photo shoot for Schoolhouse. I couldn’t say what it was for then, but now, happily, the news is out. We did a lighting collection called Bento with Roll & Hill creative director Jason Miller and their Design Team. Bento highlights both brands’ love of color and utility. There’s a chandelier in the collection that’s an ideal over-island fixture. It creates a brilliant task light for chopping and, if dimmed, a moody glow for when you have guests at a nearby table. The fixture works equally well, aesthetically and functionally, over a long dining table, spreading its light over a large expanse, and the reeded glass base means there are no glaring bulbs. • The Juiciest Pork Chops Start With This Fridge Staple
by Noah Tanen (Food52) on March 25, 2025 at 8:21 pm

The secret to the juiciest, most flavorful pork chop is sitting right in your fridge—right there, at the bottom of a pickle jar you’ve nearly kicked. Why can’t we apply the ingenuity of a jam jar cocktail or a peanut butter jar salad dressing to elevate the humble pork chop? What if the stars align, and you find yourself at the very end of a pickle jar, with a couple of choice cuts in the fridge? Read More >>

  • Tea-Infused Cocktails Are Trending—Here’s How to Make Your Own at Home
by Julia Youman (Food52) on March 25, 2025 at 2:00 pm

Turns out tea isn’t just for sipping anymore—it’s showing up in cocktails everywhere. Whether it’s the rise of nonalcoholic alternatives or a renewed love for botanical flavors, tea adds depth without extra sweetness, making it perfect for both cocktails and mocktails. If you’re looking to stock your bar cart, Absolut Wild Tea is a black tea-and-elderflower-infused vodka, while Empress Indigo Gin gets its striking purple hue from butterfly pea flower (bonus: it turns pink with lemon juice!)—a nod to classic afternoon tea service. • How to Effortlessly Mix & Match Patterns at Home
by Chelsea Harris (Food52) on March 24, 2025 at 3:48 pm

Want to mix patterns at home and don’t know where to start? Don’t stress, we’ve got you covered (this is the year of maximalism, after all). Whether you lean toward understated designs—think soft neutrals—or like to mix and match bold stripes and playful patterns, the secret lies in finding the right balance. And remember, don’t overthink it. Your home should feel fresh, fun, and totally you. Here’s your guide to playing with patterns—no design degree required. Keep it Neutral Overwhelmed by color? We get it (and we’ve been there, too). Bold patterns can be intimidating, but there’s an easy trick to making them feel effortless: Start with a neutral base. Think soft beige, warm gray, or crisp white—these grounding shades create the perfect backdrop for mixing prints without the visual chaos. Once you’ve got your foundation, you can layer in playful stripes, florals, or geometric designs without having them compete for attention. The best part? A neutral base gives you the freedom to swap patterns in and out as your style evolves—making it easy to mix and match to your heart’s content. Read More >>

If you’re anywhere near Chicago, like me, you probably saw snow last week—only for it to miraculously melt just in time for spring’s official arrival. As of March 20, we’ve entered one of the superior seasons for fresh flavors, vibrant cocktails, and lazy afternoons with a spritz in hand. • Transform Your Space With these Stunning Floral Wallpapers
by Julia Youman (Food52) on March 21, 2025 at 4:45 pm

Pretty much every house I’ve ever loved has one thing in common: an unexpected pop of wallpaper. In my childhood home, our dining room ceiling mimicked a nighttime sky. Then there was the house I babysat in, where the mom—a vintage interior designer—constantly played with new wall colors and prints. Most recently, I was reminded of my love of wallpaper by Schumacher & Co’s Mr. Darcy paneled set. Inspired by Pride & Prejudice, it transforms walls into an English storybook garden—just one example of how statement wallpaper is making a major comeback. While I’ve always been a fan, it seems more and more people are embracing bold wallpaper prints, floral patterns, and vintage-inspired murals in their homes. That’s because they are—and we consulted some experts to find out why. Read More >>

  • These 3-Ingredient Brownies Are The Ultimate Kid-Friendly Recipe
by Justin Sullivan (Food52) on March 19, 2025 at 9:40 pm

The Hotline gets so many questions about great recipes to make with young folks. To us, the perfect kid-friendly cooking projects should contain few ingredients, require very little prep, avoid too much work with knives or the stove and, maybe most importantly, create something sweet. These 3 Ingredient Nutella Brownies fit that bill perfectly. All you need is flour, eggs and a jar of nutella. The nutella contains all the fat, flavor and chocolatey goodness necessary to create a killer brownie. The only “work” that this recipe needs is to heat the nutella in the microwave just slightly, so that it's easily combined with the eggs. From Our Shop Sale! These are super well suited for mixins like chopped chocolate bars, a cheesecake swirl or nuts. • This NYC Reservation Is Worth Fighting For
by Amanda Hesser (Food52) on March 19, 2025 at 4:18 pm

Welcome to the latest edition of Food52 Founder Amanda Hesser’s weekly newsletter, Hey There, It’s Amanda, packed with food, travel, and shopping tips, Food52 doings, and other matters that catch her eye. Get inspired—sign up here for her emails. Getting into buzzy new restaurants in NYC is a blood sport. If you don’t start a month in advance, you’re outta luck. I often forget to start early enough, so I constantly have enough “Notify Me” alerts set on Resy that they may flag me as a bot (or a drunk dialer). Thankfully, I have friends who are better suited to the hunger game of eating out in New York; they set alarms to make reservations the minute they go online, they dm restaurants, they work their connections. Karen, a longtime Food52 colleague who is now at Stone Barns Center for Food & Agriculture, is one of these people. She recently got us into everyone’s new obsession, Borgo, which lived up to the hype. The spacious dining room with light wood wainscotting and taper candles on every table made me think of Salzburg, but the food is pure Italy. It must be spring because all the dishes we ordered were green and white–fava bean puree with marinated greens, risotto with peas, and even dessert, a pistachio, ricotta, and cherry tart. A stand-out was the bitter greens salad with breadcrumbs. As I ate it, I thought, there’s not enough love for bitter greens. But, it turns out that there is on Food52! Here’s a round-up we did a few years ago. Bonus: Making any of these recipes is far easier than getting into Borgo! Read More >>

  • The Must-Go Spots For Your Next Miami Trip
by Nea Arentzen (Food52) on March 18, 2025 at 7:34 pm

It seems like everyone I know is heading to Miami right now—which, along with the fact that NYC weather has been more than chilly—is exactly why I (also) planned a weekend trip with my friends and brother to Florida’s most visited city. After several days of incredible meals, cocktails, and pool hangs, I thought I’d share a few of my favorite spots. Without further ado, here are some places, definitely worth adding to your Miami itinerary. From Our Shop Fellow Carter Move Travel Mug $30–$35 More Options Waterproof Beach Tote Bag $76 More Colors Striped Cotton Terry Bath Towels & Mats $32–$316 More Options Uchi Miami Uchi Miami, created by James Beard Award-winning chef Tyson Cole, is located in Wynwood—about a 30-minute Uber from South Beach, making it a no-brainer if you’re looking to venture beyond the area. It’s a sleek, modern Japanese restaurant that takes sushi and Japanese cuisine to another level. The menu covers everything from nigiri and sashimi to vegetable sides like bok choy and heartier options like pork belly. If you’re looking for more of an experience, the chef’s tasting menu (omakase) is the way to go—but even just ordering a few rolls and small plates is a win (just don’t forget to order the fried milk for dessert). by Julia Youman (Food52) on March 16, 2025 at 9:23 pm

One thing we’re absolutely doing to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day? Sipping on an Irish coffee. Ideally with a slice of cake in the same flavor. And if you didn’t know that was an option, don’t worry—now you do. Skip the crowded bars and make something fun at home instead. Whether it’s a classic Irish coffee from one of NYC’s most iconic cocktail bars or a rich, coffee-infused dessert, these recipes bring all the flavor (and a little whiskey) to the party.
