[Homemade] – Food you made. This includes food made from scratch, or food assembled from pre-made ingredients.
[Pro/Chef] – You work in a food-related industry and made it. Chefs, pastry chefs, bakers, butcher, sous chef, and food photographers all fit into this category.
[I ate] – You went to a place and most likely exchanged money to eat this. This tag includes restaurants, food trucks, etc.
Pure Food and Wine:
Everyone knows that food is important. It’s one of the basic necessities of life, after all. But what exactly is “food”? It’s not just the stuff that you buy at the grocery store or order at a restaurant. It’s also the meals that you eat at home, and even the snacks that you enjoy between meals. In short, food is anything that you eat or drink to nourish your body.
But not all food is created equal. Some foods are better for you than others, and some are even downright bad for your health. That’s why it’s important to be choosy about what you eat. And one way to do that is to make sure that you’re eating pure food.
So what exactly is pure food? Simply put, it’s food that has been made without the use of any artificial additives or chemicals. This means that pure food is free from pesticides, herbicides, growth hormones, and other harmful substances. It’s also usually organic, meaning that it was grown without the use of synthetic fertilizers or genetic engineering. In short, pure food is the kind of food that nature intended for us to eat.
If you’re looking for pure food, your best bet is to stick with homemade meals made from fresh, whole ingredients. But if you don’t have time to cook at home, there are plenty of restaurants and eateries that serve pure, healthy cuisine. Just make sure to do your research so that you can be sure you’re getting the real deal. After all, your health is worth it!
8 major food allergens:
Everyone has different dietary needs and restrictions. Some people are vegetarian, some people are kosher, and some people have food allergies. While it is possible to accommodate all of these diets, it can be difficult to keep track of everything. That’s why it’s important to know the top 8 major food allergens. This way, you can be sure that everyone will be able to enjoy your homemade cuisine or go out to eat without worry.
The top 8 major food allergens are: milk, eggs, peanuts, tree nuts, fish, shellfish, soy, and wheat. If you or someone you know has a food allergy, it is important to avoid these ingredients. However, that doesn’t mean that you have to miss out on all the fun. There are plenty of delicious recipes that don’t use any of these ingredients. So whether you’re cooking for yourself or for a group, you can rest assured that everyone will be able to enjoy your meal.
These eight items are responsible for the vast majority of serious allergic reactions in the United States. If you have a severe allergy to one of these foods, it’s important to be careful when eating out or consuming homemade meals. Some restaurants are better than others at accommodating allergies, but it’s always best to err on the side of caution. By being aware of the top eight major food allergens, you can help keep yourself safe and healthy.

I've been storing all my sauces in the fridge since I didn't have a lot of pantry space. Things like soy sauce, oyster sauce, mirrin, rice wine vinegar, tomato sauce, sweet chilli sauce and lemon and lime juice. Now I have more pantry space, I'd like to move everything out of the fridge to make room but I'm wondering if I should put them back to dry storage after they've already been refrigerated? Or should I wait until they're finished and then start the replacements back in the pantry? submitted by /u/royalglass34 [link] [comments]

- Spruce syrupby /u/KibsuNation (FoodHacks) on May 29, 2023 at 10:16 am
So I don't know if this is common knowledge, but I thought I'd share. You can pick the new, pale green growth from spruce trees and make delicious syrup from them. Very earthy, citrusy flavor. Good with game or desserts. I am mostly making it for drinks. I will add an image when it's done, but basically you pick about 5 liters of spruce tips. You add water so they are covered and leave oven night. Then you bring it to a boil (like in picture, they turn creepy moss green when cooked) and cook for 2 hours on low. Drain, add 1/2 kg of sugar for every liter of "spruce stock". Simmer for another 2 hours or until desired consistency. (Mix every once in a while or it will burn.) Put the hot syrup in clean canning jars and close lids. Let cool and store in the fridge or a cellar. submitted by /u/KibsuNation [link] [comments]

My sister brought me these Candie's sometime ago which are usually super soft but for some reason they're hard as a rock. I've tried microwaving but it doesn't work. Ive read up online and found several ways, but they're mostly for homemade fudge. I wonder if I can do something to them while still wrapped? submitted by /u/Anneliee [link] [comments]
- Largest Keto Sub-Reddit Censoring Posts About Keto-Negative Storiesby /u/Real-External392 (FoodHacks) on May 28, 2023 at 1:49 am
I was on the keto diet for almost 4 years. The first 3 were very positive. Then I developed health problems that persisted for over 10 months. Then I switched from keto to the Mediterranean diet, cut my alcohol way down, and switched from French press coffee to regular. I immediately started feeling better, and continue to progress. As an act of social duty, I posted my story on r/keto, a community that I had used as a resource while on the diet. My post was taken down. So were the next two asking about what was going on with the post removal. Then I reached out to the mods, and it got even worse. This is the full story. https://youtu.be/GuPWZ5Vqwbo submitted by /u/Real-External392 [link] [comments]

- The 7 Best Grilling Scenes From Movies & TVby Paul Hagopian (Food52) on May 26, 2023 at 9:29 pm
Before you don an apron, wave around tongs, and inevitably burn something on the grill, it’s best to prepare some material. Instead of working through your arsenal of contemporary content (read: TikTok references, Vanderpump Rules commentary, and Succession takes), bring some classic cinematic grilling references to this year’s barbecue. Here are seven of the best grilling scenes from movies and television: From Our Shop Grill Tools $47.99–$224.99 More Sizes Sale! Everdure CUBE Portable Charcoal Grill $199 $159.20 More Colors Best Overall Culinary Experience: Paulie’s Cookout in Goodfellas Goodfellas is a food movie. While Henry’s Copacabana entrance and razor-sliced garlic are perhaps the film’s most memorable culinary moments, Paulie’s grill-side hang, featuring sausage and peppers, cold beer, and a random assortment of likely-uncomfortable, certainly past-their-prime lawn chairs is accurate and somehow aspirational. That is to say, I want one of those sandwiches. Read More >>
- This Is the *Only* Wine Glass You Will Ever Needby Arati Menon (Food52) on May 26, 2023 at 6:00 pm
This post contains products independently chosen (and loved) by our editors and writers. Food52 earns an affiliate commission on qualifying purchases of the products we link to. I don’t know about you, but I hate washing up after a dinner party. The thing that gets to me the most is having to hand-wash the wine glasses, two per guest (because my friends are that annoying). And I particularly dislike drying them after. So, imagine my joy when I was shown a wine glass you can thoughtlessly throw into the dishwasher. It's not a graceless glob, either. It's a perfectly dainty glass—with bones of steel. Read More >>
