How to make your laptop last longer with AI

The Benefits of AI for Laptops

One of the benefits of AI is that it can help to improve the efficiency of your laptop. For example, if you frequently use certain programs or visit certain websites, AI can learn your habits and pre-load these programs or websites so that they’re ready for you when you need them. This can help to save time and improve your productivity. Additionally, AI can also help to optimize your battery life by learning your usage patterns and making adjustments accordingly.

Another benefit of AI is that it can help to protect your laptop from malware and other security threats. This is because AI is constantly learning and evolving, which means that it can quickly identify new security threats as they arise and take steps to protect your laptop from them. Additionally, AI can also help to keep your personal data safe by encrypting it and storing it in a secure location.

The Drawbacks of AI for Laptops

While there are several benefits to using AI on your laptop, there are also some drawbacks that you should be aware of. One of the main drawbacks is that AI requires a lot of processing power, which can drain your battery life quickly. Additionally, if you’re not careful, you may accidentally give away too much personal information to an AI program without realizing it. Finally, there is always the possibility that an AI program could malfunction or become corrupted, which could lead to serious problems for your laptop.

What tips do you have for prolonging the life of a laptop? Any tips and tricks for common repairs?

What was the most common repairs you needed on your laptop?

It will always be the battery. If you’re buying a laptop, make sure it has a replaceable battery OR an easily accessible one that you can remove yourself.

I have so many laptops with zero issues, including batteries. Never leave a laptop plugged in.

Of all the ones I see here are the common issues:

  1. Power connectors: charging ports get pushed and pulled by people tripping over the cord or smashing the connector into their knees, the wall, or the floor.
  2. Hinges for the screen. Grabbing the screen by the corner, over extending, or rough treatment break screens or the small connectors internally that go to them
  3. Keyboards. The keys can wear and fade, or junk gets inside them and makes the keys inoperable.

Let’s collect some more data about the longevity and repairability of laptops.

  1. Keep your laptop clean
One of the best ways to prolong the life of your laptop is to keep it clean. Just like any other piece of technology, laptops can accumulate dust and dirt over time. This can cause the fans to work harder and eventually overheat the system. To prevent this from happening, make sure to clean your laptop regularly. You can use a damp cloth or compressed air to remove dust from the keyboard and vents.
  2. Use a cooling pad
Another way to help keep your laptop cool is to use a cooling pad. Cooling pads help dissipate heat away from the laptop, which can prolong its lifespan. Many cooling pads also come with built-in fans, which can further help keep your laptop cool.
  3. Avoid overheating
Overheating is one of the leading causes of laptops shutting down prematurely. To avoid overheating, make sure that you’re not blocking any of the vents on your laptop and that you’re not using it on a soft surface like a bed or couch where it can’t breathe. Additionally, if you’re going to be using your laptop for an extended period of time, consider investing in a stand that will elevate it slightly so that air can circulate more easily.
  4. Update your software regularly
One thing that many people don’t realize is that keeping your software up-to-date can actually help prolong the life of your laptop. That’s because updates often include patches for security vulnerabilities and other bugs that could potentially cause problems down the line. So, if you want to keep your laptop running smoothly, make sure you’re staying up-to-date on all the latest software updates.
  5. Don’t overload your laptop
Another common mistake people make is loading their laptops down with too many programs and files. This can actually put strain on the system and cause it to run slower or even crash. So, if you want to keep your laptop running at its best, only install the programs and files you need and regularly delete anything you don’t use anymore.

While there’s no guaranteed way to make your laptop last forever, following these tips can help prolong its lifespan so you can get the most out of it. Taking care of your laptop is important not only for financial reasons but also for productivity reasons. After all, a well-running laptop can mean the difference between getting work done and falling behind. So if you want to keep your laptop running smoothly for as long as possible, make sure you’re following these tips!

How artificial intelligence is changing the laptop landscape

In recent years, we’ve seen a surge in the development of artificial intelligence (AI) and its applications. From smart speakers to self-driving cars, it seems like there’s no limit to what AI can do. But what about laptops? How is AI changing the way we use these essential devices? Let’s take a look.

One of the most significant ways AI is changing laptops is in terms of performance. With traditional laptops, the processor is the biggest determining factor in how well the device will perform. However, with AI-powered laptops, that’s no longer the case. Thanks to their ability to handle complex tasks quickly and efficiently, AI-powered laptops are able to outperform their traditional counterparts when it comes to things like video editing and rendering, 3D modeling, and even gaming.

Another area where AI is having a major impact on laptops is battery life. One of the biggest complaints about laptops has always been that they need to be plugged in constantly in order to function properly. However, with AI-powered laptops, that’s no longer an issue. Thanks to their efficient use of power, AI-powered laptops can last for hours on end without needing to be plugged in. This means you can finally say goodbye to those pesky low battery warnings!

Finally, AI is also changing the way we interact with our laptops. Thanks to voice recognition software and other advancements, it’s now possible to control your laptop entirely hands-free. This means you can finally get some work done while you’re on the go without having to worry about lugging around a heavy laptop or dealing with tangled wires. All you need is your voice!

As you can see, AI is having a major impact on laptops and how we use them. From improved performance to longer battery life, there’s no doubt that AI-powered laptops are the way of the future. So if you’re in the market for a new laptop, be sure to keep an eye out for one with AI capabilities! You won’t be disappointed.

  • Please help me: MacBook M1 2020 touchpad and keyboard freezing when lid closes and only fixed with restart
by /u/ACT33 (Apple Macbook) on June 6, 2023 at 6:08 am

Hello, I have a MacBook Air M1 which has just run out of warranty by like two months. My computer works fine but when I shut the lid and turn it back on, it becomes unresponsive, as in the screen continues to function and the cursor blinks if hovering over a search bar, but no keyboard input works and the touchpad freezes. I can only fix this by doing a hard restart of the computer. i have tried EVERYTHING. I did a hardware diagnostic run and it said there were no error codes whatsoever. I tried a safe boot and it happened there too. I tried reinstalling Mac OS twice and it still happened. I fucking deleted everything on my computer and it still happened. There were never any viruses or random apps I downloaded on my computer. I was always careful with it. I’ve heard this might be an issue with the logic board. I don’t know what to do. I don’t have the money to afford a 600 dollar logic board repair. I start medical school soon and have major surgery tomorrow morning. This MacBook was my replacement for a stolen Lenovo, and now it’s already broken. This is tragic. That someone stole my 700 dollar computer, I bought a 1000 dollar computer, and now it’s fucked just a year later. I am in dire need of assistance from someone or anyone. If anyone here is willing to help a man out that would be really appreciated. I will not be able to move for the next few weeks, and I don’t have much time to get this fixed, nor do I have money. If someone can help me fix it, I am willing to work with you on some payment based on what little I have. I can give this to you for parts or for use, and I’m willing to trade for an older 2018-2019 MacBook or an intel based MacBook that anyone has lying around. I need something reliable for the sake of my education. If this is the extent of the issue, I can tolerate it and live with it, but if it degenerates further, then I could end up really screwed down the road in medical school. And I cannot have my future riding on that. Please someone help me. Edit: I just connected an external mouse and that has no issues with working when I close the lid and open it again, but the keyboard and trackpad are still unresponsive unless I restart. I’d also like to point out that this problem was intermittent, but began happening a lot more often up until now, where it happens every time I shut the lid. submitted by /u/ACT33 [link] [comments]

  • Which MacBook to go for with education pricing after 15" MBA release?
by /u/alChemist_07 (Apple Macbook) on June 6, 2023 at 6:01 am

Hi, going to use it mainly for school and maybe light photo/video editing. With education pricing and Back to School, the 13" MBA M2 base model is available at $999, plus a $150 gift card. That sounds like a steal. But I'm debating whether I should go for the 16 GB+512 GB model or at least the 16 GB+256 GB model. Or do you think I should go for the MBP M2 Pro ($1849 plus a $150 gift card)? But that kinda exceeds my budget. Any suggestions would be appreciated. • 15” Air or 14” M1 Pro?
by /u/RealAlexo (Apple Macbook) on June 6, 2023 at 5:11 am

Currently deciding between a 15” M2 Air with 16gb/512gb, or an Apple refurbished base model 14” M1 pro. • Trade in M1 MacBook Pro for 15 inch Air?
by /u/raysway666 (Apple Macbook) on June 6, 2023 at 3:56 am

Considering doing this. I have a 14" Pro right now with 16GB Ram/512GB. . I do not code/video edit, I do enjoy the 120 Hz display but the Liquid Retina I've seen in store is nice as well. Mostly considering going because I miss my 15" screen size on my old MPB and the 14" is pretty heavy... Just not sure if if worth it. Apple will give me $855 trade in making the 15 inch air about 750 (1TB, 16GB) . submitted by /u/raysway666 [link] [comments]

  • Which is the best performer between these 3 models
by /u/fledee (Apple Macbook) on June 6, 2023 at 3:19 am

Hi, I live in South America and computers are more expensive here. I have a budget of $2000 or less (ideally less) and from what I’ve seen, different SSD sizes mean different speeds. I work as an account manager so my daily tasks arent too demanding but I do would like to make a good use of my money. 1) Macbook M1 Pro 14,2”(16gb 512gb 8 cpu 14 gpu) USD $2000 2) M2 Pro 16gb 512 gb USD $2160 3) Air M2 8gb of ram 512 gb USD $1580 4) Air M2 16 gb of ram 256gb USD $1700 Now is it worth stretching out from an Air to an M1 Pro with these prices, considering my tasks? These were the best prices I could find here. I cannot find an Air with 16GB and 512gb of ram. Is it better to get extra ram over the extra ssd storage and speed? I’m very inclined towards number 1 since I’ve heard number 2 has a slower ssd? submitted by /u/fledee [link] [comments]

  • Is the M2 Macbook Pro 14" worth the extra $300?
by /u/Swissstuff (Apple Macbook) on June 6, 2023 at 2:15 am

Hi, I'm trying to decide between the new M2 15" air, and the M2 14" pro. They will both work for my use cases, but I'm trying to decide if the $290 price difference is the worth it for the higher refresh rate screen, the extra thunderbolt port, and the slightly more powerful chip. Is the screen really worth it, and will I need the extra thunderbolt port? How noticeable of a difference switching from my current monitor of 144hz to 60hz will I see? submitted by /u/Swissstuff [link] [comments]

  • 16GB M1 vs 8GB M2 in 2023.
by /u/SinArchbish0p (Apple Macbook) on June 6, 2023 at 1:54 am

Looking into buying a MB Air for mostly browsing, coding, and some 1080p video editing in Premiere occasionally. My options are the 13" 16GB M1 MBA 2020 refurb at roughly 1-1.1k or the 15" M2 8GB that just came out which would be 1.2k. The main thing here for me is the RAM and longevity, i don't know if 8gb will cut it for my workflow (particularly using Premiere) but at the same time, the 2020 MBA is 3 years old now so I don't know how much better than the new M2 is compared to that. submitted by /u/SinArchbish0p [link] [comments]

  • Help me decide between an upgraded Air and a base 14" Pro please
by /u/kelso244 (Apple Macbook) on June 5, 2023 at 11:36 pm

I'm trying to decide which Macbook to buy and keep going back and forth. I am between an M2 13" Air 24GB unified memory/1TB SSD and a base 14" M2 Macbook Pro (16GB unified memory/512 GB SSD). I am a hobbyist photographer turning professional. I would be running Photoshop and also editing some videos. I can't decide if having more RAM and storage with the Air is better than getting the base 14" Pro. I've read that the Pro has a better screen, fans, and better speakers, but I have also heard that the 512GB SSD will be slow. I like having an SDXC card slot, but it's not a deal breaker for me. This will be my one and only computer, so I need it to be powerful enough to run photo editing programs for extended periods while playing music simultaneously. I don't travel much, so weight is not a concern of mine. Unfortunately, an upgraded 14" Pro is not possible for me. Could anyone please give me some advice on which to get? Thank you! submitted by /u/kelso244 [link] [comments]
