Heroes

Season 1 was great and fresh. Season 2 didn’t know what to do with itself and just started giving everyone super powers.

By Season 3, characters were just changing motivations at the drop of a hat and it was just a huge mess of bad writing.

The blacklist, so many loopholes and a never ending plot. I mean, the female hero (forgot her name) was wanted and had her pictures broadcast nationwide live, but a couple of weeks after she can do undercover work.

Not the worst offender, but That 70’s Show tanked pretty hard once Eric left. He was sorely needed to make the chemistry of the group work.

What are movies where the final line of dialogue is the title of the movie?

I was watching Chinatown last night (great movie, btw!) and got to the final scene already knowing what the last line is, cause it’s famous and all, but only then clicked that the last word spoken is the title of the movie. (I know you can hear some cops sorta talking in the background as the camera pans out but I don’t think anyone would say that is the final dialogue in the movie).

Anyway, got me thinking, what are some other movies like this? Last words are the title of the film.

1- “And then they realized they were no longer little girls…They were little women.” – As read by Moe

2- Perfection

3- “I am Iron Man

4- The Breakfast Club

5- “It’s Fantastic.”

6- “Say that again”

7- “It’s Fantastic”

8- “Guys, I think I’ve got it”

9- Fant4stic

10- I told my wife about my dinner with Andre

11- Queen’s Boulevard

12- “By the end of that summer of ’59, we truly were a Fellowship of the Ring.”

13- Mystery men ends with a reporter asking “who are these Mystery men?”

14- “Finally, an end to these Star Wars”

I’d argue he’s the second most powerful member of The Seven

(Note, I’m doing TV Show Black Noir)

Black Noir is my favorite character in The Boys only second to Stormfront (cause she’s hot). So I always wanted to publicly share where I scale Noir, but before I do this, I have to share a few stuff stuff.

  1. The Boys Presents Diabolical is mostly canon, specifically episodes 6,7 and 8.

That’s really all, now sit back and enjoy (or dislike) this answer.

  • Section 1: AP

Black Noir’s AP feat-wise isn’t too impressive since his speed is the real deal, but he’s still no joke since he’s able to fight and defeat Kimiko in a battle.

(I consider this fight to be an outlier since Black Noir should be faster than her, but it doesn’t change the fight since Black Noir is stronger)

And keep in mind this is the same Kimiko that survived attacks from A-Train

And even reacted to A Train while he was going fast

Kimiko speed feat
Imgur: The magic of the Internet

This says a lot since she was badly damaged while fighting Noir (Had to use her self healing to survive), and she didn’t even get harmed that much while fighting A-Train since she got back up a few seconds later.

And he has shown himself to be much stronger than Starlight in multiple instances

https://giant.gfycat.com/ImpossibleExhaustedHarvestmouse.mp4

This is the same Starlight that survived an attack from Stormfront (Same with Kimiko)

And Starlight tanked a Serbu BFG 50A with no injury

Starlight durability #1
Imgur: The magic of the Internet

So already Noir scales above Kimiko and Starlight and scales above A Train due to a better performance aganist Kimiko, you could also argue his AP being at least on par with Maeve due to the tree nut scene and her deciding to use tree nuts instead of fighting him.

But it’s an iffy argument, doesn’t really matter though cause I think Noir beats her regardless.

  • Section 2: Speed

My favorite section yet.

Noir is stated to be much faster than a car

Not too impressive but this is just the start.

Black Noir was consistently able to dodge Homelander’s beams

And dodged Homelander himself

Blacknoirvshomelander GIF – Find & Share on GIPHY
Discover & share this Blacknoirvshomelander GIF with everyone you know. GIPHY is how you search, share, discover, and create GIFs.

I made an answer as to why Homelander is Hypersonic+ at least and his lasers are faster, check it out

Homelander is narratively potrayed to be the most powerful being in The Boys and should be the fastest

Not only that but Black Noir is consistently able to counter Homelander’s beams with his knives and is fast enough to throw them

https://i.giphy.com/media/mopdzvwJYP1FbseXKL/giphy.mp4 https://i.giphy.com/media/JrxshenT8yh7W7kpxi/giphy.mp4

No one in The Boys has shown a good speed feat like Black Noir just for this (excluding Homelander) not even A Train has shown anything like this.

  • Section 3: Durability

Doesn’t show too much but he’s able to tank a bomb from Naqib

With minor injuries to him

And tanked explosions previously as well

https://giant.gfycat.com/AdorableAbandonedInchworm.mp4 https://giant.gfycat.com/ElementarySpeedyDodo.mp4

  • Section 4: Others

Not too much but he’s great at Martial Arts, Stealth, Weapons, etc. He’s basically Batman

I hope you enjoyed the answer, wanna thank some people who remain annoymous for proving the scans to some of these

  • What’s one mis-cast role that irks you in an otherwise perfect film?
    by /u/padma_Iakshmi on April 26, 2024 at 5:30 pm

I really liked Robert Eggers “The Northman,” but casting Nicole Kidman as Queen Gudrún really took me out of the viewing experience for some reason. I can’t exactly put my finger on why, but I think it comes down to how she portrayed the role and the fact she has obviously had plastic surgery, which doesn’t fit the 800AD setting. Nothing against Kidman (or plastic surgery for that matter), but her inclusion took away from what was a pretty great film in my opinion. Are there any other roles in great movies that you feel were really poorly miscast? Edit: someone is downvoting every new comment in this thread, so weird! • Remember going to the video store as a kid? Running up to grab your choice then following your parent while they pick there’s. What are some of the VHS/DVD’s you remember seeing but didn’t get around to watching until you were an adult?
    by /u/originalschmidt on April 26, 2024 at 4:59 pm

I was just reminiscing about going to the video rental store as a kid, in my town our local radio shop and half of the store dedicated to movie rentals.. I would usually walk with my brothers every weekend and we would rent video games and movies (they even rented out the gaming systems) and I remember grabbing an Olsen twins mystery or Beauty and the Beast or the Little Mermaid and my brothers would take forever picking games and movies so I would just wonder around and look at all the VHS covers… Striptease, Jawbreaker, My Cousin Vinny, Mermaids, A Fish Called Wanda, 4 Weddings and a Funeral… these are some of the titles I would often notice but didn’t watch until I was much much older… still haven’t seen Striptease. So what are some movies you remember seeing at the video store as a kid but didn’t watch until you were older. • What's a famous/classic movie that you notice is slowly beginning to be forgotten about?
    by /u/Emeraldsinger on April 26, 2024 at 3:17 pm

All pieces of media eventually fade into obscurity as time passes. Some more quickly than others. So what are iconic older movies you've noticed less and less people talk about or have even seen as you disuss movies with others? For me, it's the original Point Break from 1991, one of my favorite action movies. But with me being Gen Z, I don't think I've ever met anyone my age (or all the way up to 10 years older) who have seen it. I find myself referencing it often and my peers almost always seem to have never heard of it. Sad because I love that movie. What are your picks? submitted by /u/Emeraldsinger [link] [comments]

  • What are examples of two actors cast to play the same character at different ages, and it's totally believable that the younger one grew into the old one?
    by /u/Snoo-35252 on April 26, 2024 at 2:38 pm

For example, in Jumper (2008), David and Millie appeared as high school age kids and later as 20-something young adults, each played by two different actors. I believed that Max Thieriot would grow up to be Hayden Christensen, and that AnnaSophia Robb would grow up to be Rachel Bilson. What are your favorite examples of good casting of young actors and older actors playing the same character? submitted by /u/Snoo-35252 [link] [comments]

    by /u/svenaggedon on April 26, 2024 at 2:02 pm

Like the title says I'm looking for the best "oh shit" twists in a heist film and the scene in which they were revealed. Especially parts when it looks like the protagonists have been rumbled but they anticipated the rumbling and the other antagonist finds out. A few other examples to me are: - Superstar by the Carpenters in Tommy Boy - Stuck in the Middle with You in Resevoir Dogs - Nightcall by Kavinsky in Drive - Bohemian Rhapsody in Wayne’s World What songs belong to a movie to you? submitted by /u/Dan__Glesak [link] [comments]

Almost everything I’ve seen with them has been great, and they just seem like a tight knit clan that support each other and I love that. • When did movie reviews become "making as many puns as you can about the subject of the movie"?
    by /u/Charles_Benes on April 26, 2024 at 3:32 am

I generally check out the reviews of a movie before I go to see it, but I'm finding it harder and harder to find out anything of substance from reviews. I used to watch At the Movies with Ebert and Roeper back in the day, and they would typically give you a sense of what was valuable about a movie and what kind of viewer it would appeal to. These days, reviews all seem to boil down to "MOVIE GOOD" or "MOVIE BAD" + a shit-ton of puns. I really started paying attention to this with the Wonka movie. Every single review was just a series of chocolate or candy-related puns that didn't actually tell you anything about the movie. It's a sweet treat, or it's a feast for the eyes, or whatever. Like, OK, I get it, it's about chocolate. That's not why I am reading a fucking review. I'm finding the same thing with Challengers. On Rotten Tomatoes: "With its trio of outstanding performers volleying their star power back and forth without ever dropping the ball, Challengers is a kinetic and sexy romp at court." That literally tells me nothing. OK, the movie has movie stars and it's about tennis. Great. Why does that mean I should pay money to watch it? I don't know if I'm just looking in the wrong places, but I really wish there was some kind of nuanced and honest (and pun-free) movie review source like the old review shows. Rant over. submitted by /u/Charles_Benes [link] [comments]

  • Suggest a movie for my wife and me to watch with my parents this weekend.
    by /u/oof_madon on April 25, 2024 at 9:49 pm

My parents (mid-60s) are coming to visit my wife and me (late 20s) this weekend and I would love to see what this sub thinks we should watch. My dad and my wife and I are all pretty big movie watchers with broad tastes, while my mom tends not to watch as many movies and can be a bit picky. She generally won't go for anything that's hyperviolent or contains a lot of swearing, and she especially doesn't like horror movies. Whatever the top-voted answer ends up being, I'll try to get us to sit down and watch it Saturday night, and I'll return with an update on how it went. • What’s the saddest example of a character or characters knowing, with 100% certainty, that they are going to die but they have time to come to terms with it or at least realize their situation?
    by /u/finditplz1 on April 25, 2024 at 8:14 pm

As the title says — what are some examples of films where a character or several characters are absolutely doomed and they have to time to recognize that fact and react? How did they react? Did they accept it? Curse the situation? Talk with loved ones? Ones that come to mind for me (though I doubt they are the saddest example) are Erso and Andor’s death in Rogue One, Sydney Carton’s death (Ronald Colman version) in A Tale of Two Cities, Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, etc. What are the best examples of this trope? submitted by /u/finditplz1 [link] [comments]

  • Josh Hartnett: Is it really a come back?
    by /u/br153 on April 25, 2024 at 7:45 pm

Firstly this is not to knock JH. But rather to use him as a case study for an actor's career and decisions. JH is definitely coming back to the mainstream with Oppenheimer and Trap. But I see in his filmography that he's been consistently working almost every year since his first film in 1998. Though perhaps in non-mainstream and lesser known films during the last 15-20 years. Some thoughts: a. I would say it's a real come back if he made no films at all during his 'quiet' years. b. During his 'quiet' years did he take on these lesser roles by choice (to stay active in the industry) or not (to pay bills)? Happy to hear any input. submitted by /u/br153 [link] [comments]

  • dune parts 1 and 2's usage of the sandworms is a testament to how, when done well, less can be more.
    by /u/herequeerandgreat on April 25, 2024 at 11:00 am

the most iconic element of the dune franchise is the sandworms. they are among the most iconic giant monsters in all of pop culture. given their iconography, you'd think that dune parts 1 and 2 would feature them pretty prominently. well, no actually. in the first dune movie, the sandworm only has about a minute of screentime. and in part 2, they have slightly more screentime but not a whole lot. however, this is actually not a terrible thing. although they don't have much screentime, they make what little screentime they have count. they are at the center of some of the best scenes of the duology. also, overusing them would have desensitized us to them and made them less impressive. it's like the shark from jaws. it builds up the sandworms and then gives us a glorious reveal. the usage of the sandworms is a perfect example of less being more. submitted by /u/herequeerandgreat [link] [comments]

  • Hi, I'm NASUBI. In the late 90s I lived inside a small room for 15 months, naked, starving and alone, surviving solely off of magazine contest prize winnings ... all while my life was broadcast to over 15 million viewers a week without my consent. Ask Me Anything.
    by /u/Hulu_Official on April 23, 2024 at 9:15 pm

Hello everyone! You may be familiar with my story, which has been shared over the years on Reddit. In 1998 in Japan, I won an audition to take part in a challenge. I was led into a room, ordered to strip naked, and left with a stack of magazines and postcards. My task was to enter contests in order to win food, clothing and prizes to survive, until I reached the prize goal of 1 million yen. This lasted 15 months, all while 15 million people watched me - without my consent. Hulu will be releasing a documentary on my life called "The Contestant," premiering on May 2. You can watch the trailer HERE. I'm looking forward to answering your questions on Wednesday 4/24 starting at 12:30 pm PT/3:30 pm ET. Thank you!
