Somehow a heart shaped herb is found and given to her, she is powered up and quickly recovers from giving birth (she may even take it while pregnant because she is seriously injured in the Atlantean attack.) Nakia becomes BP and queen regent. She fights Namor, and maybe also rescues Shuri.

What TV show was amazing at first but became unwatchable for you later on?

Heroes

Season 1 was great and fresh. Season 2 didn’t know what to do with itself and just started giving everyone super powers.

By Season 3, characters were just changing motivations at the drop of a hat and it was just a huge mess of bad writing.

The blacklist, so many loopholes and a never ending plot. I mean, the female hero (forgot her name) was wanted and had her pictures broadcast nationwide live, but a couple of weeks after she can do undercover work.

Not the worst offender, but That 70’s Show tanked pretty hard once Eric left. He was sorely needed to make the chemistry of the group work.

Once Upon a Time. The first 3 seasons were good! And then after that they just kept getting worse

What are movies where the final line of dialogue is the title of the movie?

I was watching Chinatown last night (great movie, btw!) and got to the final scene already knowing what the last line is, cause it’s famous and all, but only then clicked that the last word spoken is the title of the movie. (I know you can hear some cops sorta talking in the background as the camera pans out but I don’t think anyone would say that is the final dialogue in the movie).

Anyway, got me thinking, what are some other movies like this? Last words are the title of the film.

How strong is Black Noir in The Boys?

 

I’d argue he’s the second most powerful member of The Seven

(Note, I’m doing TV Show Black Noir)

Black Noir is my favorite character in The Boys only second to Stormfront (cause she’s hot). So I always wanted to publicly share where I scale Noir, but before I do this, I have to share a few stuff stuff.

  1. The Boys Presents Diabolical is mostly canon, specifically episodes 6,7 and 8.

That’s really all, now sit back and enjoy (or dislike) this answer.

  • Section 1: AP

Black Noir’s AP feat-wise isn’t too impressive since his speed is the real deal, but he’s still no joke since he’s able to fight and defeat Kimiko in a battle.

 
 

(I consider this fight to be an outlier since Black Noir should be faster than her, but it doesn’t change the fight since Black Noir is stronger)

And keep in mind this is the same Kimiko that survived attacks from A-Train

 
 

And even reacted to A Train while he was going fast

This says a lot since she was badly damaged while fighting Noir (Had to use her self healing to survive), and she didn’t even get harmed that much while fighting A-Train since she got back up a few seconds later.

And he has shown himself to be much stronger than Starlight in multiple instances

So already Noir scales above Kimiko and Starlight and scales above A Train due to a better performance aganist Kimiko, you could also argue his AP being at least on par with Maeve due to the tree nut scene and her deciding to use tree nuts instead of fighting him.

 
 

But it’s an iffy argument, doesn’t really matter though cause I think Noir beats her regardless.

  • Section 2: Speed

My favorite section yet.

Noir is stated to be much faster than a car

Not too impressive but this is just the start.

Black Noir was consistently able to dodge Homelander’s beams

And dodged Homelander himself

Homelander is narratively potrayed to be the most powerful being in The Boys and should be the fastest

Not only that but Black Noir is consistently able to counter Homelander’s beams with his knives and is fast enough to throw them

No one in The Boys has shown a good speed feat like Black Noir just for this (excluding Homelander) not even A Train has shown anything like this.

Doesn’t show too much but he’s able to tank a bomb from Naqib

Not too much but he’s great at Martial Arts, Stealth, Weapons, etc. He’s basically Batman

    I really liked Robert Eggers “The Northman,” but casting Nicole Kidman as Queen Gudrún really took me out of the viewing experience for some reason. I can’t exactly put my finger on why, but I think it comes down to how she portrayed the role and the fact she has obviously had plastic surgery, which doesn’t fit the 800AD setting. Nothing against Kidman (or plastic surgery for that matter), but her inclusion took away from what was a pretty great film in my opinion. I would usually walk with my brothers every weekend and we would rent video games and movies (they even rented out the gaming systems) and I remember grabbing an Olsen twins mystery or Beauty and the Beast or the Little Mermaid and my brothers would take forever picking games and movies so I would just wonder around and look at all the VHS covers… Striptease, Jawbreaker, My Cousin Vinny, Mermaids, A Fish Called Wanda, 4 Weddings and a Funeral… these are some of the titles I would often notice but didn’t watch until I was much much older… still haven’t seen Striptease.     I generally check out the reviews of a movie before I go to see it, but I'm finding it harder and harder to find out anything of substance from reviews. I used to watch At the Movies with Ebert and Roeper back in the day, and they would typically give you a sense of what was valuable about a movie and what kind of viewer it would appeal to. These days, reviews all seem to boil down to "MOVIE GOOD" or "MOVIE BAD" + a shit-ton of puns. I really started paying attention to this with the Wonka movie. Every single review was just a series of chocolate or candy-related puns that didn't actually tell you anything about the movie. It's a sweet treat, or it's a feast for the eyes, or whatever. Like, OK, I get it, it's about chocolate. That's not why I am reading a fucking review. I'm finding the same thing with Challengers. On Rotten Tomatoes: "With its trio of outstanding performers volleying their star power back and forth without ever dropping the ball, Challengers is a kinetic and sexy romp at court." That literally tells me nothing. OK, the movie has movie stars and it's about tennis. Great. Why does that mean I should pay money to watch it? I don't know if I'm just looking in the wrong places, but I really wish there was some kind of nuanced and honest (and pun-free) movie review source like the old review shows. Walton Goggins did such a good job at playing a greasy bad guy that I hated him and I think that imprinted onto me and haven't even liked looking at him. Did they accept it? Curse the situation? Talk with loved ones?     Firstly this is not to knock JH. But rather to use him as a case study for an actor's career and decisions. JH is definitely coming back to the mainstream with Oppenheimer and Trap. But I see in his filmography that he's been consistently working almost every year since his first film in 1998. Though perhaps in non-mainstream and lesser known films during the last 15-20 years. Some thoughts: a. I would say it's a real come back if he made no films at all during his 'quiet' years. b.   • dune parts 1 and 2's usage of the sandworms is a testament to how, when done well, less can be more.

    the most iconic element of the dune franchise is the sandworms. they are among the most iconic giant monsters in all of pop culture. given their iconography, you'd think that dune parts 1 and 2 would feature them pretty prominently. well, no actually. in the first dune movie, the sandworm only has about a minute of screentime. and in part 2, they have slightly more screentime but not a whole lot. however, this is actually not a terrible thing. although they don't have much screentime, they make what little screentime they have count. they are at the center of some of the best scenes of the duology. also, overusing them would have desensitized us to them and made them less impressive. it's like the shark from jaws. it builds up the sandworms and then gives us a glorious reveal. the usage of the sandworms is a perfect example of less being more. submitted by /u/herequeerandgreat [link] [comments]
