How to make your laptop last longer with AI
The Benefits of AI for Laptops
One of the benefits of AI is that it can help to improve the efficiency of your laptop. For example, if you frequently use certain programs or visit certain websites, AI can learn your habits and pre-load these programs or websites so that they’re ready for you when you need them. This can help to save time and improve your productivity. Additionally, AI can also help to optimize your battery life by learning your usage patterns and making adjustments accordingly.
Another benefit of AI is that it can help to protect your laptop from malware and other security threats. This is because AI is constantly learning and evolving, which means that it can quickly identify new security threats as they arise and take steps to protect your laptop from them. Additionally, AI can also help to keep your personal data safe by encrypting it and storing it in a secure location.
The Drawbacks of AI for Laptops
While there are several benefits to using AI on your laptop, there are also some drawbacks that you should be aware of. One of the main drawbacks is that AI requires a lot of processing power, which can drain your battery life quickly. Additionally, if you’re not careful, you may accidentally give away too much personal information to an AI program without realizing it. Finally, there is always the possibility that an AI program could malfunction or become corrupted, which could lead to serious problems for your laptop.

I have so many laptops with zero issues, including batteries. Never leave a laptop plugged in.
Of all the ones I see here are the common issues:
- Power connectors: charging ports get pushed and pulled by people tripping over the cord or smashing the connector into their knees, the wall, or the floor.
- Hinges for the screen. Grabbing the screen by the corner, over extending, or rough treatment break screens or the small connectors internally that go to them
- Keyboards. The keys can wear and fade, or junk gets inside them and makes the keys inoperable.

Let’s collect some more data about the longevity and repairability of laptops.

When our laptops start to slow down or show signs of wear, it can be frustrating. The good news is that there are things you can do to prolong the life of your laptop and make it last longer. Below are some tips on how to make your laptop last longer.
- Keep your laptop clean
One of the best ways to prolong the life of your laptop is to keep it clean. Just like any other piece of technology, laptops can accumulate dust and dirt over time. This can cause the fans to work harder and eventually overheat the system. To prevent this from happening, make sure to clean your laptop regularly. You can use a damp cloth or compressed air to remove dust from the keyboard and vents. - Use a cooling pad
Another way to help keep your laptop cool is to use a cooling pad. Cooling pads help dissipate heat away from the laptop, which can prolong its lifespan. Many cooling pads also come with built-in fans, which can further help keep your laptop cool. - Avoid overheating
Overheating is one of the leading causes of laptops shutting down prematurely. To avoid overheating, make sure that you’re not blocking any of the vents on your laptop and that you’re not using it on a soft surface like a bed or couch where it can’t breathe. Additionally, if you’re going to be using your laptop for an extended period of time, consider investing in a stand that will elevate it slightly so that air can circulate more easily. - Update your software regularly
One thing that many people don’t realize is that keeping your software up-to-date can actually help prolong the life of your laptop. That’s because updates often include patches for security vulnerabilities and other bugs that could potentially cause problems down the line. So, if you want to keep your laptop running smoothly, make sure you’re staying up-to-date on all the latest software updates. - Don’t overload your laptop
Another common mistake people make is loading their laptops down with too many programs and files. This can actually put strain on the system and cause it to run slower or even crash. So, if you want to keep your laptop running at its best, only install the programs and files you need and regularly delete anything you don’t use anymore.
While there’s no guaranteed way to make your laptop last forever, following these tips can help prolong its lifespan so you can get the most out of it. Taking care of your laptop is important not only for financial reasons but also for productivity reasons. After all, a well-running laptop can mean the difference between getting work done and falling behind. So if you want to keep your laptop running smoothly for as long as possible, make sure you’re following these tips!
Below are the best laptops in 2022-2023:
How artificial intelligence is changing the laptop landscape
In recent years, we’ve seen a surge in the development of artificial intelligence (AI) and its applications. From smart speakers to self-driving cars, it seems like there’s no limit to what AI can do. But what about laptops? How is AI changing the way we use these essential devices? Let’s take a look.
One of the most significant ways AI is changing laptops is in terms of performance. With traditional laptops, the processor is the biggest determining factor in how well the device will perform. However, with AI-powered laptops, that’s no longer the case. Thanks to their ability to handle complex tasks quickly and efficiently, AI-powered laptops are able to outperform their traditional counterparts when it comes to things like video editing and rendering, 3D modeling, and even gaming.

Another area where AI is having a major impact on laptops is battery life. One of the biggest complaints about laptops has always been that they need to be plugged in constantly in order to function properly. However, with AI-powered laptops, that’s no longer an issue. Thanks to their efficient use of power, AI-powered laptops can last for hours on end without needing to be plugged in. This means you can finally say goodbye to those pesky low battery warnings!
Finally, AI is also changing the way we interact with our laptops. Thanks to voice recognition software and other advancements, it’s now possible to control your laptop entirely hands-free. This means you can finally get some work done while you’re on the go without having to worry about lugging around a heavy laptop or dealing with tangled wires. All you need is your voice!
As you can see, AI is having a major impact on laptops and how we use them. From improved performance to longer battery life, there’s no doubt that AI-powered laptops are the way of the future. So if you’re in the market for a new laptop, be sure to keep an eye out for one with AI capabilities! You won’t be disappointed.

- M5 air display in dark roomby /u/restinripme (Apple Macbook) on June 6, 2026 at 6:46 am
Hey everyone, I’m about to pull the trigger on a 13” MacBook Air M5 24GB/512GB but I have some concerns. My situation: - Currently using a company-issued M1 Pro 14” (Liquid Retina XDR, mini-LED, 120Hz ProMotion) in work - I want to buy my own personal machine primarily for side project development and casual usage - About 80% of my usage is in the evening in bed, when the kids are asleep. Coding, learning, browsing, occasional YouTube - For my workload the Air should be enough so wouldn’t want to spend too much on the pro But I’m a bit worried about the screen… Going from a mini-LED XDR display to an IPS panel feels like a big step back, especially since I use it primarily in a dark setting in the evening. What is your experience, how bad/good is the screen in a dark room watching darker content like a dark theme for coding/dark theme websites? submitted by /u/restinripme [link] [comments]
- MacBook Air oder Pro?by /u/rebekka234d (Apple Macbook) on June 6, 2026 at 5:56 am

- Need help deciding: MacBook Pro M5 16GB vs MacBook Air M5 24GB (same price)by /u/pipecanon (Apple Macbook) on June 6, 2026 at 4:35 am
I’m still within my return window and would love some real-world advice from people who’ve actually used these machines. I had two options at almost the same price: MacBook Pro M5 14” – 16GB RAM / 512GB SSD MacBook Air M5 – 24GB RAM / 512GB SSD I ended up buying the 14-inch MacBook Pro M5 16GB, mainly because I genuinely wanted the Pro. I previously had an M3 Air, and another Air felt too similar, whereas the Pro felt like an actual upgrade (better display, speakers, thermals, etc.). Now I’m second-guessing myself because of the RAM. Part of me wonders whether 24GB would be the smarter long-term choice. My use cases: Computer Science degree (including AI-related modules) VS Code Web development Running a Windows VM occasionally Freelance video editing Building AI automation projects/agency on the side Multitasking A few things I’ve noticed: I tested a Windows VM and assigned around 6GB RAM to it. With the VM running, YouTube, Safari, WhatsApp, etc., memory usage was around 14GB and swap was still 0. The machine feels fast and I’m genuinely happy with it. My question is: Would you keep the 14” M5 Pro with 16GB, or return it for the M5 Air with 24GB? I’m especially interested in: Real-world experiences from developers, CS students, and video editors. Whether 16GB is likely to feel limiting over the next 4–6 years. Whether the Pro’s better cooling, display, speakers, and overall experience outweigh the extra 8GB RAM. If you’ve faced a similar choice, do you regret prioritizing RAM or prioritizing the Pro? Looking for practical experiences rather than spec-sheet opinions. Thanks! submitted by /u/pipecanon [link] [comments]
- How much more powerful is the M5 compared to the M5 Pro?by /u/MoveZneedle (Apple Macbook) on June 6, 2026 at 4:18 am
The work I plan to do is 4K Video editing (personal projects) as well as photography (Lightroom for example). Cost is something I want to keep in mind. I was thinking of getting a maxed out M5 Macbook Air....BUT I really do like the larger trackpad, the better screen, and the better speakers on the Macbook Pro. So, if I were to get a Macbook Pro for the same price of $2,100 (maxed out Air), I would go with the following specs: 2Tb, 16 Gb of ram, M5 chip. But if the performance of the M5 Pro chips are better, I will absolutely save money for it and wait a little longer. I am trying to go a little future proof with the machine as well. If there's a significant difference between chips, let me know. I heard that the M5 is basically the same as the M1 Max chip on the M1 MBP's which is insane if that's the case. EDIT: Important to note, I do have an M4 Mac Mini since it was super cheap for me ($300 with a gift card) but I want a portable machine. I have a base model 2019 mac book pro right now and it can't do anything on it. submitted by /u/MoveZneedle [link] [comments]
- Macbook Air M5 going to sleep/discharged when under 7% battery.by /u/arastumudgal (Apple Macbook) on June 6, 2026 at 4:03 am
Bought it a month ago (May 2026), Battery Health is 100%. Suddenly switched off when battery was 6-7%. Another thing that I noticed since the beginning was during charging, going from 99 to 100% takes up a lot of time, and discharging from 100 to 99 takes up a lot of time as well. Is there a genuine issue? Wasnt much concerned with the 99 to 100 issue, but this sleeping/discharging today at 7% alarmed me. submitted by /u/arastumudgal [link] [comments]

- What MacBook should I get for on the go music production?by /u/OffBrand_Soda (Apple Macbook) on June 6, 2026 at 2:43 am
I make music, and use mostly FL studio. What MacBook would be good for this, without being overkill? I have a gaming laptop that has good specs and works very good for games and is good for making music too when I'm at home plugged in, but the battery isn't the best so I can't use it for long when I bring it somewhere with me. I don't wanna spend an insane amount so I'm not necessarily trying to go with the latest Macbook, but I figured I'd ask here to maybe have some people who are experienced with music production on a MacBook tell me what they think would work for me. The only reason I'm considering a MacBook despite the fact that I already have a powerful laptop is because of laptop's battery isn't great and I like to park in different places while I make music in my car lol. Thanks in advance to anyone with some insight. submitted by /u/OffBrand_Soda [link] [comments]

- Title: MacBook Air M2 (Brand New) vs MacBook Air M5 (2nd Hand) – Which is worth it in 2026?by /u/curiositycando (Apple Macbook) on June 6, 2026 at 1:52 am
Hi everyone, I need some advice on which MacBook to choose. I’m deciding between a brand new MacBook Air M2 (512GB SSD) and a second-hand MacBook Air M5 (256GB SSD). I’m leaning toward the M2 for the storage and because it’s brand new, but the M5 is obviously newer and more powerful. Here are the specs of the MacBook Air M5 (2nd hand): ● Apple M5 chip ● 10-core CPU (4 performance cores + 6 efficiency cores) ● 8-core GPU (configurable up to 10-core) ● 16GB unified memory ● 256GB SSD storage ● 13.6" Liquid Retina display (2560×1664, 500 nits) ● Up to 18 hours battery life ● Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6 ● 2× Thunderbolt 4 (USB-C), MagSafe 3 ● Fanless design ● Weight: 1.23 kg (2.7 lbs) ● 93% Battery health ● Color: Midnight / Starlight For the M2 Air, I’m planning to get the 16GB RAM with 512GB SSD variant (brand new). My main concerns: ● Which is more worth it in 2026? ● Which one is better for long-term use / longevity? ● Is the performance jump of M5 worth going second-hand? ● How risky is buying a used MacBook? Would really appreciate your thoughts 🙏 submitted by /u/curiositycando [link] [comments]

- 24” monitor recommendationsby /u/spudistractionky (Apple Macbook) on June 6, 2026 at 12:59 am
I’ve been working off a 21” iMac for the last six years and am transitioning to a 2026 MacBook Pro M5. My head is spinning after doing monitor research and trying to find one that would be suitable. Here are my needs/requirements: -Needs to be able to connect to a 2026 MacBook Pro M5 -21” feels comfortable, but it’s harder and harder to find monitors in that range. 27” is too big, so I think 24” is a good compromise. -Would like to be able to adjust the angle as I have a standing desk and alternate between sitting and standing throughout the workday. -Use case: I am a communications specialist, so while a lot of my day-to-day involves meetings or writing, graphic design or web design is pretty common. Therefore I need to be able to see color quite clearly and crisply. -Would like to stay in the $500 or under range. The goal would be to use this for 5-7 years. submitted by /u/spudistractionky [link] [comments]
