How to make your laptop last longer with AI
The Benefits of AI for Laptops
One of the benefits of AI is that it can help to improve the efficiency of your laptop. For example, if you frequently use certain programs or visit certain websites, AI can learn your habits and pre-load these programs or websites so that they’re ready for you when you need them. This can help to save time and improve your productivity. Additionally, AI can also help to optimize your battery life by learning your usage patterns and making adjustments accordingly.
Another benefit of AI is that it can help to protect your laptop from malware and other security threats. This is because AI is constantly learning and evolving, which means that it can quickly identify new security threats as they arise and take steps to protect your laptop from them. Additionally, AI can also help to keep your personal data safe by encrypting it and storing it in a secure location.
The Drawbacks of AI for Laptops
While there are several benefits to using AI on your laptop, there are also some drawbacks that you should be aware of. One of the main drawbacks is that AI requires a lot of processing power, which can drain your battery life quickly. Additionally, if you’re not careful, you may accidentally give away too much personal information to an AI program without realizing it. Finally, there is always the possibility that an AI program could malfunction or become corrupted, which could lead to serious problems for your laptop.

To conclude:
Overall, the advantages of using AI on your laptop outweigh the disadvantages. However, you should still be aware of the potential risks involved before you install any AI programs on your device. If you do decide to use AI on your laptop, be sure to install a reputable program from a trusted source.
Laptop Longevity Poll: What was the most common repairs you needed on your laptop?
Let’s collect some more data about the longevity and repairability of laptops.
What tips do you have for prolonging the life of a laptop? Any tips and tricks for common repairs?
It will always be the battery. If you’re buying a laptop, make sure it has a replaceable battery OR an easily accessible one that you can remove yourself.
I have so many laptops with zero issues, including batteries. Never leave a laptop plugged in.
Of all the ones I see here are the common issues:
- Power connectors: charging ports get pushed and pulled by people tripping over the cord or smashing the connector into their knees, the wall, or the floor.
- Hinges for the screen. Grabbing the screen by the corner, over extending, or rough treatment break screens or the small connectors internally that go to them
- Keyboards. The keys can wear and fade, or junk gets inside them and makes the keys inoperable.
Let’s collect some more data about the longevity and repairability of laptops.
What tips do you have for prolonging the life of a laptop? Any tips and tricks for common repairs?
When our laptops start to slow down or show signs of wear, it can be frustrating. The good news is that there are things you can do to prolong the life of your laptop and make it last longer. Below are some tips on how to make your laptop last longer.
- Keep your laptop clean
One of the best ways to prolong the life of your laptop is to keep it clean. Just like any other piece of technology, laptops can accumulate dust and dirt over time. This can cause the fans to work harder and eventually overheat the system. To prevent this from happening, make sure to clean your laptop regularly. You can use a damp cloth or compressed air to remove dust from the keyboard and vents. - Use a cooling pad
Another way to help keep your laptop cool is to use a cooling pad. Cooling pads help dissipate heat away from the laptop, which can prolong its lifespan. Many cooling pads also come with built-in fans, which can further help keep your laptop cool. - Avoid overheating
Overheating is one of the leading causes of laptops shutting down prematurely. To avoid overheating, make sure that you’re not blocking any of the vents on your laptop and that you’re not using it on a soft surface like a bed or couch where it can’t breathe. Additionally, if you’re going to be using your laptop for an extended period of time, consider investing in a stand that will elevate it slightly so that air can circulate more easily. - Update your software regularly
One thing that many people don’t realize is that keeping your software up-to-date can actually help prolong the life of your laptop. That’s because updates often include patches for security vulnerabilities and other bugs that could potentially cause problems down the line. So, if you want to keep your laptop running smoothly, make sure you’re staying up-to-date on all the latest software updates. - Don’t overload your laptop
Another common mistake people make is loading their laptops down with too many programs and files. This can actually put strain on the system and cause it to run slower or even crash. So, if you want to keep your laptop running at its best, only install the programs and files you need and regularly delete anything you don’t use anymore.
While there’s no guaranteed way to make your laptop last forever, following these tips can help prolong its lifespan so you can get the most out of it. Taking care of your laptop is important not only for financial reasons but also for productivity reasons. After all, a well-running laptop can mean the difference between getting work done and falling behind. So if you want to keep your laptop running smoothly for as long as possible, make sure you’re following these tips!
Below are the best laptops in 2022-2023:
How artificial intelligence is changing the laptop landscape
In recent years, we’ve seen a surge in the development of artificial intelligence (AI) and its applications. From smart speakers to self-driving cars, it seems like there’s no limit to what AI can do. But what about laptops? How is AI changing the way we use these essential devices? Let’s take a look.
One of the most significant ways AI is changing laptops is in terms of performance. With traditional laptops, the processor is the biggest determining factor in how well the device will perform. However, with AI-powered laptops, that’s no longer the case. Thanks to their ability to handle complex tasks quickly and efficiently, AI-powered laptops are able to outperform their traditional counterparts when it comes to things like video editing and rendering, 3D modeling, and even gaming.
Another area where AI is having a major impact on laptops is battery life. One of the biggest complaints about laptops has always been that they need to be plugged in constantly in order to function properly. However, with AI-powered laptops, that’s no longer an issue. Thanks to their efficient use of power, AI-powered laptops can last for hours on end without needing to be plugged in. This means you can finally say goodbye to those pesky low battery warnings!
Finally, AI is also changing the way we interact with our laptops. Thanks to voice recognition software and other advancements, it’s now possible to control your laptop entirely hands-free. This means you can finally get some work done while you’re on the go without having to worry about lugging around a heavy laptop or dealing with tangled wires. All you need is your voice!
As you can see, AI is having a major impact on laptops and how we use them. From improved performance to longer battery life, there’s no doubt that AI-powered laptops are the way of the future. So if you’re in the market for a new laptop, be sure to keep an eye out for one with AI capabilities! You won’t be disappointed.

- MacBook Air won’t charge - charger isn’t brokenby /u/lizlizliz645 (Apple Macbook) on January 21, 2025 at 3:12 am
For some reason today my MacBook Air (purchased early 2021) has decided not to charge anymore. The charger itself works - it still charges my iPad. I’ve tried several other chargers, outlets, etc. and nothing works. When I checked the battery health it said normal. I have an appointment tomorrow afternoon at the Apple Store to get it looked at. Anyone had similar issues? Were they able to fix it? submitted by /u/lizlizliz645 [link] [comments]

I have no concept of how used electronics depreciate, so I'm not sure what is a reasonable asking price here. 2018 macbook air. The keyboard and battery were replaced in 2022 due to a recall, so the battery life is excellent. One small dent and few minor scuffs on the outside, but otherwise excellent condition. - Parts compatible between MPB Retina,13 in,Late 2013 and MBP Retina 13 in,early 2015by /u/Toss-the-discuss (Apple Macbook) on January 20, 2025 at 11:49 pm
I see there was an old thread like this but to clarify, this is about the EARLY 2015. I have an early 2015 mbp that seemed to run fine besides the battery draining fast . I stupidly had it switched out by some novice technicians and when they put a non-original battery in, the trackpad and keyboard started malfunctioning. My brother in law was going to toss away his old late 2013 MBP that has in his words, a 'broken screen'. Assuming the trackpad, battery and keyboard (topcase) on the old machine are working, how much would be compatible with the early 2015? (screw positions, functionality, etc). Or does a broken screen on the 2013 suggest other parts also not working? Thanks for the help! submitted by /u/Toss-the-discuss [link] [comments]

- Get another laptop?by /u/Alejandro2412 (Apple Macbook) on January 20, 2025 at 8:57 pm
Hi everyone, I have a 2022 M1 MacBook Air. I use it every now and then. I am enrolling in school again and planned to use it for this purpose. My dilemma is I work from home sometimes and have a work issued Dell laptop, I also have 2 large monitors I plug it into when I work from home. I am just realizing it seems I am unable to plug my Macbook into these 2 monitors like I do with my windows laptop. Is there any way at all to have my MacBook extended across 2 monitors? Kind of frustrated as my whole desk set up centers around these 2 giant monitors that I really like and need to use for school. Exploring the idea of just buying a Windows laptop like my work one and giving the MacBook to my wife as she uses it too. I did really want to use the MacBook for school work at home though.. Any thoughts? submitted by /u/Alejandro2412 [link] [comments]

- MacBook M1 Pro in 2025by /u/ArtisticOwl2620 (Apple Macbook) on January 20, 2025 at 8:30 pm
MacBook M1 Pro in 2025? After using the MacBook M1 Pro for six months I feel like I should share my thoughts. I picked up the M1 Pro last summer for £950 and worked a part time job to save up for it out of my own pocket so was pretty chuffed with that. Spoiler: this machine is absolutely worth it, even in 2025. Whether you’re debating between this and a newer release or considering upgrading from an older Intel-based Mac, here’s why the M1 Pro still holds its ground. Performance Even years after its release, the M1 Pro chip is a beast. I use mine for heavy multitasking, video editing in Final Cut Pro, coding in Xcode, and occasional gaming (yes, macOS gaming is better than you’d expect). I’ve never experienced lag, stutters, or the need to throttle back on what I’m doing. Apple’s efficiency cores and performance cores work seamlessly, and the fan is practically silent unless I’m pushing it to extremes. Compared to older Intel-based Macs I’ve used, the performance difference is night and day. Battery Life The battery life on this thing is unreal. I’m consistently getting 12+ hours of real-world usage, even with multiple Chrome tabs, Slack, Zoom, and Spotify running. The endurance makes it feel like a machine from the future. Six months in, battery health is still at 100%. This is a laptop that can keep up with all-day work and casual use without needing to be tethered to a charger. Display and Build Quality The Liquid Retina XDR display is breathtaking. I do some color-sensitive work, and this display has been a game-changer. Watching HDR content or editing high-res footage feels cinematic. The 120Hz ProMotion refresh rate makes scrolling buttery smooth and spoils you for anything else. Build quality is equally impressive. The unibody aluminum chassis feels premium, durable, and timeless. The keyboard and trackpad are the best I’ve ever used on a laptop—no exaggeration. Ports You also get an SD card slot, HDMI port, MagSafe, and three USB-C ports. As someone who works with external displays and SD cards regularly, this is a godsend. No more dongles for everything! Why It’s Still Worth It in 2025 Here’s the kicker: you don’t need the latest MacBook to have an exceptional experience. The M1 Pro remains more than capable of handling modern workflows and is optimized for macOS in a way that feels futuristic. Plus, the prices for refurbished or lightly used models have dropped, making this one of the best value propositions for a high-end laptop. If you’re upgrading from an Intel Mac or even an M1 Air, the performance, battery, display, and port selection make this a no-brainer. Even compared to newer models, the M1 Pro holds its own unless you’re chasing the absolute cutting edge. I went from a 2015 Intel MacBook Air so I would say I keep my laptops for a while before upgrading and I am also price conscious so this was definitely a good pick up in the summer of 2024 but as my needs will change I can see myself upgrading more often but as of now this is doing the trick. Just a quick disclaimer only one of the pictures from above are mine the rest are from IGN. submitted by /u/ArtisticOwl2620 [link] [comments]
- Battery Cycle and expected capacityby /u/UsedFly891 (Apple Macbook) on January 20, 2025 at 8:25 pm
Hi! I have a MacBook Pro M1 2020 that I purchased in November 2020. Current cycles: 384 Condition: Normal Maximum capacity: 83% Is this normal for my Mac? I'm obviously impressed that it has gone almost 5 years and the Mac still behaves like new but I see people posting much higher percentages with even more cycles. Note: My wife started playing sims extensively for the past two years on my Mac, so it often has to charge which I suspect is also the reason for this result. But will this Mac under these usages be able to sustain 1000 cycles before needing a battery change? Thanks in advance 🙂 submitted by /u/UsedFly891 [link] [comments]
