How to make your laptop last longer with AI
The Benefits of AI for Laptops
One of the benefits of AI is that it can help to improve the efficiency of your laptop. For example, if you frequently use certain programs or visit certain websites, AI can learn your habits and pre-load these programs or websites so that they’re ready for you when you need them. This can help to save time and improve your productivity. Additionally, AI can also help to optimize your battery life by learning your usage patterns and making adjustments accordingly.
Another benefit of AI is that it can help to protect your laptop from malware and other security threats. This is because AI is constantly learning and evolving, which means that it can quickly identify new security threats as they arise and take steps to protect your laptop from them. Additionally, AI can also help to keep your personal data safe by encrypting it and storing it in a secure location.
The Drawbacks of AI for Laptops
While there are several benefits to using AI on your laptop, there are also some drawbacks that you should be aware of. One of the main drawbacks is that AI requires a lot of processing power, which can drain your battery life quickly. Additionally, if you’re not careful, you may accidentally give away too much personal information to an AI program without realizing it. Finally, there is always the possibility that an AI program could malfunction or become corrupted, which could lead to serious problems for your laptop.

Laptop Longevity Poll: What was the most common repairs you needed on your laptop?
Let’s collect some more data about the longevity and repairability of laptops.
What tips do you have for prolonging the life of a laptop? Any tips and tricks for common repairs?

It will always be the battery. If you’re buying a laptop, make sure it has a replaceable battery OR an easily accessible one that you can remove yourself.
I have so many laptops with zero issues, including batteries. Never leave a laptop plugged in.
Of all the ones I see here are the common issues:
- Power connectors: charging ports get pushed and pulled by people tripping over the cord or smashing the connector into their knees, the wall, or the floor.
- Hinges for the screen. Grabbing the screen by the corner, over extending, or rough treatment break screens or the small connectors internally that go to them
- Keyboards. The keys can wear and fade, or junk gets inside them and makes the keys inoperable.

Let’s collect some more data about the longevity and repairability of laptops.
What tips do you have for prolonging the life of a laptop? Any tips and tricks for common repairs?
When our laptops start to slow down or show signs of wear, it can be frustrating. The good news is that there are things you can do to prolong the life of your laptop and make it last longer. Below are some tips on how to make your laptop last longer.
If you are looking for an all-in-one solution to help you prepare for the AWS Cloud Practitioner Certification Exam, look no further than this AWS Cloud Practitioner CCP CLFC01 book below.

- Keep your laptop clean
One of the best ways to prolong the life of your laptop is to keep it clean. Just like any other piece of technology, laptops can accumulate dust and dirt over time. This can cause the fans to work harder and eventually overheat the system. To prevent this from happening, make sure to clean your laptop regularly. You can use a damp cloth or compressed air to remove dust from the keyboard and vents. - Use a cooling pad
Another way to help keep your laptop cool is to use a cooling pad. Cooling pads help dissipate heat away from the laptop, which can prolong its lifespan. Many cooling pads also come with built-in fans, which can further help keep your laptop cool. - Avoid overheating
Overheating is one of the leading causes of laptops shutting down prematurely. To avoid overheating, make sure that you’re not blocking any of the vents on your laptop and that you’re not using it on a soft surface like a bed or couch where it can’t breathe. Additionally, if you’re going to be using your laptop for an extended period of time, consider investing in a stand that will elevate it slightly so that air can circulate more easily. - Update your software regularly
One thing that many people don’t realize is that keeping your software up-to-date can actually help prolong the life of your laptop. That’s because updates often include patches for security vulnerabilities and other bugs that could potentially cause problems down the line. So, if you want to keep your laptop running smoothly, make sure you’re staying up-to-date on all the latest software updates. - Don’t overload your laptop
Another common mistake people make is loading their laptops down with too many programs and files. This can actually put strain on the system and cause it to run slower or even crash. So, if you want to keep your laptop running at its best, only install the programs and files you need and regularly delete anything you don’t use anymore.
While there’s no guaranteed way to make your laptop last forever, following these tips can help prolong its lifespan so you can get the most out of it. Taking care of your laptop is important not only for financial reasons but also for productivity reasons. After all, a well-running laptop can mean the difference between getting work done and falling behind. So if you want to keep your laptop running smoothly for as long as possible, make sure you’re following these tips!
Below are the best laptops in 2022-2023:
How artificial intelligence is changing the laptop landscape
In recent years, we’ve seen a surge in the development of artificial intelligence (AI) and its applications. From smart speakers to self-driving cars, it seems like there’s no limit to what AI can do. But what about laptops? How is AI changing the way we use these essential devices? Let’s take a look.
One of the most significant ways AI is changing laptops is in terms of performance. With traditional laptops, the processor is the biggest determining factor in how well the device will perform. However, with AI-powered laptops, that’s no longer the case. Thanks to their ability to handle complex tasks quickly and efficiently, AI-powered laptops are able to outperform their traditional counterparts when it comes to things like video editing and rendering, 3D modeling, and even gaming.
Another area where AI is having a major impact on laptops is battery life. One of the biggest complaints about laptops has always been that they need to be plugged in constantly in order to function properly. However, with AI-powered laptops, that’s no longer an issue. Thanks to their efficient use of power, AI-powered laptops can last for hours on end without needing to be plugged in. This means you can finally say goodbye to those pesky low battery warnings!
Finally, AI is also changing the way we interact with our laptops. Thanks to voice recognition software and other advancements, it’s now possible to control your laptop entirely hands-free. This means you can finally get some work done while you’re on the go without having to worry about lugging around a heavy laptop or dealing with tangled wires. All you need is your voice!
As you can see, AI is having a major impact on laptops and how we use them. From improved performance to longer battery life, there’s no doubt that AI-powered laptops are the way of the future. So if you’re in the market for a new laptop, be sure to keep an eye out for one with AI capabilities! You won’t be disappointed.

- Which Macbook would be best for me?by /u/Guilty-Flamingo-4429 (Apple Macbook) on June 5, 2023 at 10:24 am
First off all, I hope this is the right subreddit for this I'm looking for a new laptop since I'm not really happy with the one I have now. I own a Dell XPS 15 now, with 16GB/512GB and I was told this was enough for my use but it is really slow and sometimes takes forever to open up apps. I'd use my laptop for university stuff (writing emails, summaries for lectures, ...) and occasionally (like 5-6 times a month) for photoshopping (with Affinity) or video-cutting (with DaVinci Resolve). I also want to watch movies and play Minecraft on it. Honestly, I want to spend as little as possible on the Macbook but I'm not on a tight budget per se. It would be great if anybody could help me with picking a Macbook 🙂 Edit: I'm a noob when it comes to computers and stuff so please bare with me haha It's a Dell XPS 15 7590 intel-core i7-9750H, 2.60GHz (just stating what the description of my laptop shows haha). It's 16GB Ram (15.7GB free) submitted by /u/Guilty-Flamingo-4429 [link] [comments]
- So what's up with the mouse pointer on MacOS?by /u/randomseller (Apple Macbook) on June 5, 2023 at 9:55 am
I switch between my Windows PC and my Macbook very often, my MX Master 3 is connected to both of them. I use the mouse on my windows PC and everything is perfectly smooth. Then I switch to my Macbook and the mouse feels like garbage. It just feels sluggish, weird and extremely terrible to use. I don't know how to explain it, but it's just unusable. I turned off mouse acceleration through the terminal, and I tried the app "linear mouse" but it just always feels like garbage. What is going on? Why is it like that? Is there anything I can do to make it better? Also using the scrollbar is a nightmare. On some apps one scroll click barely moves the screen, while on some other apps one scroll click is enough to move an entire screen length down. I do have the logitech app installed on the mac. submitted by /u/randomseller [link] [comments]
- M1 Macbook Pro 13" overheats during intensive tasks on Venturaby /u/arkencode (Apple Macbook) on June 5, 2023 at 9:01 am
Hello, for a while now my macbook has been overheating during games, for example Heroes of the Storm. Yesterday I decided to do a factory reset and it was downgraded from Ventura to Monterey, I installed al of the apps I use and did a bit of gaming, the macbook remained completely cool even after an hour of continuous gaming. I then made the update back to Ventura, opened the same game, and now it drastically overheats in less than 10 minutes, to the point that it is uncomfortable to touch. Has anyone else experienced this? I tested it in the same conditions, on a flat table, in a cool room and no extra software was installed except for the update. I'm considering doing another factory reset and just not upgrading to Ventura, though I'd much rather disable whatever it is in Ventura that's causing this. submitted by /u/arkencode [link] [comments]
- What is the best possible cloth to clean macbook screens with?by /u/SimplyHobbit (Apple Macbook) on June 5, 2023 at 8:59 am
https://www.amazon.com/MOONQUEEN-Ultra-Soft-Premium-Washcloths/dp/B09219DX7Q/ref=sr_1_6?crid=3L5ZYWIB0LYC2&keywords=soft%2Bmicrofiber%2Bcloth&qid=1685671986&sprefix=soft%2Bmicrofiber%2Bcloth%2Caps%2C93&sr=8-6&th=1 Here's the link to some that I got from Amazon, they feel amazingly soft so I assume they will be okay, but after talking to people on reddit...I have no idea anymore. I got them in the mail so I have them at home now and like I said they feel amazingly soft. But after asking many subreddits and talking to many macbook owners, there doesn't seem to be a general consensus on what any of us should for sure 100% be using to wipe our screens with. Does anyone have any information contrary to this? If so, please share because I just want to wipe my macbook screen cuz it has fingerprints. But I can't because I don't want to scratch it, or even down the line scratch it by doing the wrong thing. I know for sure that whoosh cleaner is almost certainly the way to go for all apple products (screens and bodies) because whoosh is what apple stores use. But nobody seems to know what the best possible cloth is to wipe macbook screens with. Everyone always says "microfiber cloths"...but not all microfiber cloths are created equally. For instance the 2 clothes that came with the whoosh spray seem super rough compared to these ones I got from Amazon. And the "screen cleaning cloth" that came with the whoosh spray is even more rough than the big one that came with it, it feels super rough to me. These ones from Amazon feel soft as a baby, so I'm almost positive they would be great for screens. But now I'm paranoid to wipe my screen with any cloth because I need this M1 14 Pro to last me at least 2 to 5 more years. And I would prefer to not have any scratches on it during that time period. And no one on reddit really seems to know the answer to this question. So does anyone have any actual idea about this? Or are we all just guessing when it comes to this? submitted by /u/SimplyHobbit [link] [comments]

- Help me decide: MBP 14 vs. MBA (both M2 16gb)by /u/deowyu (Apple Macbook) on June 5, 2023 at 4:47 am
Hi! Contemplating between these two since I need a device to use whenever I go outside. I work as a lead creative. I mainly use davinci resolve (720p to 1080p for a 5-min clip or less), photoshop, illustrator & canva. I already have an iMac (16 gb) so I’m wondering if mbp 14 is an overkill for what I do. TIA. Edit: In my country, MBP 14 costs $2066 while MBA M2 (16gb) costs $1400 submitted by /u/deowyu [link] [comments]

Hi everybody, I'm looking for a new laptop and I'm thinking about going into a Mac for the first time. Currently I'm finishing my PhD in Sociology and doing an exchange in U.S. where Macs are a lot cheaper than in my country. I plan to start studying for real data science next year (I already have some during my PhD, but I intend to change my career). Also, I'm illustrator. I don't do any video editing at all, but I live in a very hot weather and I'm a bit concerned about a laptop without a fan.. Budget: $1600 tops submitted by /u/yzdrrr [link] [comments]
- MacBook recommendations for studentby /u/kaibloorr (Apple Macbook) on June 5, 2023 at 12:50 am
Hi all, this September (assuming I get the grades) I'll be starting university studying sport journalism. The course won't won't be only typing essays/articles, it involves learning all aspects of sports media industry and how it works. For this reason, I suspect I will need a laptop powerful enough to edit 4k video on occasion should I not be in my accomodation. Apple laptops seem to be miles clear in the modern laptop market today and being as I need myself something that will last me 3+ years minimum they seem the obvious way to go. I've done some research and the two standout options for me seem to be either the M1/M2 MacBook Air. I don't really want the hassle of lugging around a big and heavy MacBook Pro (not that I could afford one anyway), and both machines seem more than powerful enough for my requirements. Whichever I chose, I'd likely upgrade to the 16GB of RAM, and possibly the 512GB SSD if I buy the M2 Air, due to the reported issues with the lower memory model. On the M1, if I needed more storage I'd likely just buy an external SSD and save myself from the ridiculous Apple pricing on upgrading it. The M1 Air (from what I've read and watched), seems the best value for my money, offering most of the same features as the M2 Air and similar performance. My only worry with this option, is that the M1 Air is coming up to being 3 years old, would it still receive all the latest software updates from Apple? Would it still be powerful enough for all my needs for another 3 years? The M2 Air is more expensive but is slightly better performance-wise, and eliminates the age worry I have with the M1 Air. I'm reluctant to buy an M2 Air though, due to the underwhelming performance increases it has over the M1 Air (let me know if I'm wrong on this). I'm conscious the M3 MacBooks are on the horizon, is an M1 still viable for me? The M3's are supposedly around 70% faster, would that be needed performance for me? Should I wait as late as possible and see what plays out with the new 15' Air? Please let me know your thoughts, cheers. submitted by /u/kaibloorr [link] [comments]

- What kind of cloth should I use to clean my M1 14-inch MacBook Pro?by /u/SimplyHobbit (Apple Macbook) on June 4, 2023 at 5:07 pm
Someone on this subreddit told me wiping their macbook screen over time with a microfiber cloth scratched his macbook over time so now I'm scared to use one on my macbook. I decided to use whoosh cleaner since that's what they use in apple stores. So I'm sure that will be fine. But I have no idea what kind of cloth to use or trust. I asked the guy who said microfiber cloth scratched his macbook over time if his microfiber cloth was "ultra soft" cuz I noticed some are labeled ultra soft and some aren't. So I don't know if the ultra soft ones are good or not. My whoosh cleaner came with 2 cloths. One big one that looks rougher (maybe it's for the exterior of products idk) and one small one that is labeled that is for screen cleaning. But I don't know how trustworthy these clothes are either. Any help or info on this topic is greatly appreciated cuz I have some fingerprints on my macbook's screen so here soon it will be time to give it a wipe down. submitted by /u/SimplyHobbit [link] [comments]
