Heroes

Season 1 was great and fresh. Season 2 didn’t know what to do with itself and just started giving everyone super powers.

By Season 3, characters were just changing motivations at the drop of a hat and it was just a huge mess of bad writing.

The blacklist, so many loopholes and a never ending plot. I mean, the female hero (forgot her name) was wanted and had her pictures broadcast nationwide live, but a couple of weeks after she can do undercover work.

Not the worst offender, but That 70’s Show tanked pretty hard once Eric left. He was sorely needed to make the chemistry of the group work.

What are movies where the final line of dialogue is the title of the movie?

I was watching Chinatown last night (great movie, btw!) and got to the final scene already knowing what the last line is, cause it’s famous and all, but only then clicked that the last word spoken is the title of the movie. (I know you can hear some cops sorta talking in the background as the camera pans out but I don’t think anyone would say that is the final dialogue in the movie).

Anyway, got me thinking, what are some other movies like this? Last words are the title of the film.

1- “And then they realized they were no longer little girls…They were little women.” – As read by Moe

2- Perfection

3- “I am Iron Man

4- The Breakfast Club

5- “It’s Fantastic.”

6- “Say that again”

7- “It’s Fantastic”

8- “Guys, I think I’ve got it”

9- Fant4stic

10- I told my wife about my dinner with Andre

11- Queen’s Boulevard

12- “By the end of that summer of ’59, we truly were a Fellowship of the Ring.”

13- Mystery men ends with a reporter asking “who are these Mystery men?”

14- “Finally, an end to these Star Wars”

I’d argue he’s the second most powerful member of The Seven

(Note, I’m doing TV Show Black Noir)

Black Noir is my favorite character in The Boys only second to Stormfront (cause she’s hot). So I always wanted to publicly share where I scale Noir, but before I do this, I have to share a few stuff stuff.

  1. The Boys Presents Diabolical is mostly canon, specifically episodes 6,7 and 8.

That’s really all, now sit back and enjoy (or dislike) this answer.

  • Section 1: AP

Black Noir’s AP feat-wise isn’t too impressive since his speed is the real deal, but he’s still no joke since he’s able to fight and defeat Kimiko in a battle.

(I consider this fight to be an outlier since Black Noir should be faster than her, but it doesn’t change the fight since Black Noir is stronger)

And keep in mind this is the same Kimiko that survived attacks from A-Train

And even reacted to A Train while he was going fast

Kimiko speed feat
Imgur: The magic of the Internet

This says a lot since she was badly damaged while fighting Noir (Had to use her self healing to survive), and she didn’t even get harmed that much while fighting A-Train since she got back up a few seconds later.

And he has shown himself to be much stronger than Starlight in multiple instances

https://giant.gfycat.com/ImpossibleExhaustedHarvestmouse.mp4

This is the same Starlight that survived an attack from Stormfront (Same with Kimiko)

And Starlight tanked a Serbu BFG 50A with no injury

Starlight durability #1
Imgur: The magic of the Internet

So already Noir scales above Kimiko and Starlight and scales above A Train due to a better performance aganist Kimiko, you could also argue his AP being at least on par with Maeve due to the tree nut scene and her deciding to use tree nuts instead of fighting him.

But it’s an iffy argument, doesn’t really matter though cause I think Noir beats her regardless.

  • Section 2: Speed

My favorite section yet.

Noir is stated to be much faster than a car

Not too impressive but this is just the start.

Black Noir was consistently able to dodge Homelander’s beams

And dodged Homelander himself

Blacknoirvshomelander GIF – Find & Share on GIPHY
Discover & share this Blacknoirvshomelander GIF with everyone you know. GIPHY is how you search, share, discover, and create GIFs.

I made an answer as to why Homelander is Hypersonic+ at least and his lasers are faster, check it out

Homelander is narratively potrayed to be the most powerful being in The Boys and should be the fastest

Not only that but Black Noir is consistently able to counter Homelander’s beams with his knives and is fast enough to throw them

https://i.giphy.com/media/mopdzvwJYP1FbseXKL/giphy.mp4 https://i.giphy.com/media/JrxshenT8yh7W7kpxi/giphy.mp4

No one in The Boys has shown a good speed feat like Black Noir just for this (excluding Homelander) not even A Train has shown anything like this.

  • Section 3: Durability

Doesn’t show too much but he’s able to tank a bomb from Naqib

With minor injuries to him

And tanked explosions previously as well

https://giant.gfycat.com/AdorableAbandonedInchworm.mp4 https://giant.gfycat.com/ElementarySpeedyDodo.mp4

  • Section 4: Others

Not too much but he’s great at Martial Arts, Stealth, Weapons, etc. He’s basically Batman

I hope you enjoyed the answer, wanna thank some people who remain annoymous for proving the scans to some of these

  • Jack Nicholson is turning 87 next week. Among male actors, he holds the record for the greatest number of Academy Award nominations for acting. What is your favorite movie of his?
    by /u/maxwell-cady on April 15, 2024 at 6:36 am

I'm watching a very early movie of Jack Nicholson called Little Shop of Horrors (1960). He is in his early 20s in this film (see picture). Next week, he is turning 87. He retired from acting over a dozen years ago. Still, he has acted in over 70 movies and TV shows. https://preview.redd.it/b8tt6ge29luc1.png?width=1022&format=png&auto=webp&s=3308a8d9feb5011bf7f87732ed9d44b35baa4d15 Jack Nicholson is a legend, and this is one of those rare times not a lot of people will disagree with me calling him that. I mean he has been nominated for acting Academy Awards 12 times, which is a record. If we include actresses as well, he is tied with Katharine Hepburn, with 12 nominations, behind Meryl Streep's whopping 21 nominations. He has won three of these, which again puts him in great company (e.g., Streep, Day-Lewis) and behind only Hepburn with four wins. I thought it's a good time to ask what your favorite Nicholson movie is and anything else you like to discuss about him. submitted by /u/maxwell-cady [link] [comments]

Yeah man, I don't even know what to say, what an experience. It's fucking genius, for sure, but that's about the only conclusion I can come to about this movie. I've seen movies like The Thing where something is left ambiguous and we have to decide if it went one way or another, but I've never seen a movie where I have to figure out THE ENTIRE SECOND HALF OF THE FILM. I kind of want to rewatch it while high and see if I understand it better or worse. What the fuck was that. 10/10. submitted by /u/EsotericElegey [link] [comments]

  • Movies about low self esteem or self confidence?
    by /u/One_Swimming_4666 on April 15, 2024 at 4:44 am

I’m looking for movies about shy, awkward, timid people who learn to develop self confidence. I kinda like those movies about meek people and everyone bullying and belittling you and how they navigate through that. For example in the first back to the future where George Mcfly was incredibly passive and kind of a loser and learns to stand up for himself. Any suggestions? submitted by /u/One_Swimming_4666 [link] [comments]

Share your favorite movies from a genre that you generally don't like or is your least favorite. For me the Love/Rom-Com genre is the one that I mostly don't like. And these are three favorites from this genre. 1. Hitch 2. 50 First Dates 3. Kate & Leopold There must be even better movies but as I said it's my least favorite genre so I haven't seen many. PS :- I loved the movie The Groundhog Day but I'm not sure if I should list it in this genre. submitted by /u/GunSmith_XX7 [link] [comments]

This movie bombed at theater's but it did play quite regularly on cable channels for a few years. It's a pretty funny film that always makes me laugh. Danny DeVito also shows up playing a nutty guy who works at a morgue. The humor probably won't be everyone's thing but the movie always makes me laugh when I watch it. • Which actors have deserved to be the lead in an Oscar-worthy film for a while, but it's just never happened?
    by /u/AltKite on April 15, 2024 at 12:17 am

Have been watching Boiling Point with my wife recently, and thinking what a shame it is that while Stephen Graham has had big roles in major TV dramas, and solid supporting roles in blockbuster movies, it feels like a traversty he's never been given the lead in the type of film hyped to win an Oscar long before it's released. Like being the lead in a Scorsese or similar. His performance in This Is England is one of the best high-intensity bad guys I've seen, which is how he's often type-cast, but his range is fantastic. Got me thinking what other actors have been around a long time, clearly are happy to do major films, but for one reason or another, have never got a major, major break despite having the talent for it? submitted by /u/AltKite [link] [comments]

  • One of the reasons I enjoyed Moneyball was that it also teaches you things about baseball management. What are other movies that are both fun and instructive?
    by /u/teaontherocks on April 14, 2024 at 11:26 pm

Don't know why but I don't get tired of watching Moneyball. For those who haven't seen the movie, Moneyball is a biographical film, starring Brad Pitt as the general manager of a baseball team, and it's based on a nonfiction book by a journalist named Michael Lewis. It is based on a true story, which is specifically about the Oakland Athletics baseball team and their GM trying attempts to form a competitive team back in 2002. Yeah, on paper this sounds boring, especially if you ain't a baseball fan (as was I) but fantastic realistic writing is combined with human drama and in my opinion this was Pitt's best acting ever. What's cool though is that you also get a glimpse about what goes on behind the scenes of a professional team, and all the self doubt and external pressure a manager must face who wants to take a different approach than what is done traditionally. into all the tough decisions that must be made and his amazing drive to make big changes. Which makes sense, given that millions of dollars are on the line. So, what are your favorite movies that also teach you about how things are, whether it's sports, sciences, medicine, drugs, criminal underworld, whatever? submitted by /u/teaontherocks [link] [comments]

  • L.A. Confidential. Top 10 movie I've ever seen?
    by /u/GreatestJabaitest on April 14, 2024 at 8:49 pm

There's a subplot in this movie about Kevin Spacey as a Hollywood sellout cop who becomes involved in a story involving a young failed actor (my goat Simon Baker) being coerced into having sex with a powerful, older male politician. Spacey dies before he can get retribution for Baker's murder. I have to wonder if this entire part was an inside joke by the writers. It's probably a coincidence, but this movie is brilliant enough that I might just believe my own Crock-Pot theory. Immaculate pacing. Dialogue is rich with characterization and is written extremely tightly. Every actor crushed their performance but in particular, Crowe, Spacey, and Pierce did an incredible job drawing you into their thoughts with minute facial expressions. Pinnacle show don't tell. The cinematography was amazing, but it was the incredible sound design that really immerses you in that grimy late 50's Hollywood setting. I have to mention the pacing again because I forced myself to watch this movie, so I already kinda didn't want to watch it. The pacing is so fucking perfect that it completely drew me in within the first 5 minutes. On a personal note, the parallels between Person of Interest S3 and this are pretty interesting. Both have the same question: When is justice vengeance? They also both come to the same conclusion: never. And their decision changes everything. In one, a dirty cop goes clean and in the other a clean cop gets dirty. The conclusion is that Vengeance can be Justice but Justice is never Vengeance. Amazing movie. 9.5/10. Really gotta reiterate that this might be the best paced movie I've ever seen. My only knock is that seeing Kevin Spacey cast in that role kept taking me out of the experience (mostly from laughter at the irony of it all). Of course, that's not the movie's fault but it was pretty unfortunate. submitted by /u/GreatestJabaitest [link] [comments]

  • Lines in movies that make you cringe?
    by /u/ArgoverseComics on April 14, 2024 at 6:07 pm

Let me set the scene for you. A group of big shots (military commanders, politicians, etc) are in a room. The movie’s most intelligent character describes some other species, dinosaurs, aliens, monsters, whatever, and someone chimes in “well, it almost sounds like you admire them” or some variation of that. God I hate this line. I hate everything about it. A scientist explaining another species to you shouldn’t sound like admiration, BUT if someone is listing off objectively cool attributes of another species, what’s wrong with that? Great White Sharks wanna eat us. They’re still pretty badass. It’s just so friggin cringe to hear this line. submitted by /u/ArgoverseComics [link] [comments]

Jennifer Lawrence’s commitment to this character cannot possibly be overstated. She lives and breathes everything about this mess of a person. I’d give it 4.5/5. Totally watching it again one day. submitted by /u/ArtByMHP [link] [comments]

  • What's your favorite movie monologue?
    by /u/deadlyseaz on April 14, 2024 at 4:17 pm

Wind River (2017) I just finished this mind-blowing thriller and Cory's (Jeremy Renner) monologue about grief sent shivers down my spine: I'd like to tell you it gets easier, it doesn't. If there's any comfort, it's... getting used to the pain, I suppose. Went to a grief seminar in Casper. [...] The counselor come up to me after the seminar and sat down next to me. And he said something that stuck with me. He says: "I got some good news, and I got some bad news. Bad news is you're never gonna be the same. You're never gonna be whole, not ever again. You lost your daughter. Nothing's ever going to replace that. Now the good news is, as soon as you accept that, and you let yourself suffer, you allow yourself to visit her in your mind, and you'll remember all the love she gave you, all the joy she knew." Point is, Martin, you can't steer from the pain. If you do, you'll rob yourself of every memory of her. Every last one. From her first step to her last smile. Kill 'em all. Just take the pain, Martin. You hear me? You take it. It's the only way you'll keep her with you. What about you? What's your favorite movie monologue? submitted by /u/deadlyseaz [link] [comments]

  • Movies that feature a romance story where the couple are actually a healthy pair and not toxic!
    by /u/phantom_avenger on April 14, 2024 at 3:59 pm

There have been quite a lot of movies where the love story between two characters is often toxic, because the drama between them is what drives the plot and it's more entertaining. But then there are some movies where people will often romanticize the couple without realizing through the context that there were actually moments where they were toxic. Like how Noah in The Notebook threatened to kill himself on a ferris wheel if Allie didn't go out with him, and ignored her protests that she wasn't interested before finally giving in. Is there any movie you can think of, whether it falls in the romantic genre or any other movie from any particular genre where the couple don't do anything that comes across as sketchy or questionable and make the right choices when it comes to their relationship? submitted by /u/phantom_avenger [link] [comments]

  • Can someone explain why the voices in early American Jackie Chan movies always sound canned?
    by /u/UrLocalDungeonMaster on April 14, 2024 at 3:54 pm

Tried Google, but it's a weird question. Watching, "Who am I?", but I remember it being that way for "Rumble in the Bronx". Like their mouths move perfectly with the words being said, and it so my best guess it was a thematic choice? I would have written off as totally unsalvageable audio, but the fact it seems to be in all his American releases around this time, can't be coincidence. There's just this hint of uncanny valley with everyone's voices? Am I crazy? Edit: Thanks everyone, the general consensus is that his first two movies shot in English, "Mr. Nice Guy" and "Who am I?" were shot with no sound like his other Hong Kong releases because they would redub for Cantonese and it also gave Jackie Chan a chance to redub his lines as he was still learning English at the time. Very cool! submitted by /u/UrLocalDungeonMaster [link] [comments]

  • I watched Battlefield Earth tonight as part of a bad movie night...and dear God, I don't even know where to begin. Spoilers, but frankly, it doesn't matter.
    by /u/TravellingBeard on April 14, 2024 at 5:37 am

I've seen Lisztomania, I've seen Zardoz, I've seen Cats - twice, and I've even seen Gigli Glitter (edit: I got the two movies mixed up) but this movie numbed my brain. First, a friend found a used copy in his travels as he refused to pay for a new copy and give money to the Church of Scientology. Second, I know L. Ron Hubbard was a scifi writer of his day, so some anachronisms could be forgiven, but I heard some of his works were decent pre-Scientology. But this...atrocity...had some of the worst dialog ever. It's as if Ayn Rand wrote a dystopian story set 1000 years in the future about how aliens make profit by mining for gold. (yes, that was part of the plot) Third, if it's set 1000 years in the future, a lot of books seem to be preserved well, and power supplies for large airplane hangers seem to be intact. Speaking of airplanes, a primitive group of humans, against all odds, were somehow able to fix 10-20 harrier jets in storage, with working missiles, in order to attack the alien craft. There is so much other terribleness to this movie that would take too long, but I feel I need somewhere to vent, even though I went into this, eyes wide open, as part of a bad movie night. I have never cared absolutely little for any side in a movie as I have in this, and I watched Cats. submitted by /u/TravellingBeard [link] [comments]

  • My iTunes copy of Men in Black contains a completely different line when Will Smith is chasing the alien at the start of the movie.
    by /u/MrGittz on April 14, 2024 at 1:08 am

This is weird. So I was lazy and start watching Men in Black via iTunes on my firestick instead of my 4K UHD disc and noticed the movie had some weird audio differences. When Jay(Will Smith) chases the cephalopod at the start he should say “Freeze means stop!” Right? Well in my iTunes version(iTunes Canada) instead of “Freeze Means Stop”, he says “It’s your ass when I catch you” twice. What the heck is going on? The subtitles have the original freeze line. I checked my 4K UHD and it has the freeze line. I played the iTunes copy thru my IPad and it has the Freeze line but when I play it via iTunes on my Fire stick it’s “Its your ass when I catch you”. Does this happen for anyone else? Edit: HERES A LINK: https://www.youtube.com/watch?si=xO2In7dinuRSCrEM&v=A3F0_0a4TqI&feature=youtu.be submitted by /u/MrGittz [link] [comments]
