How to make your laptop last longer with AI
The Benefits of AI for Laptops
One of the benefits of AI is that it can help to improve the efficiency of your laptop. For example, if you frequently use certain programs or visit certain websites, AI can learn your habits and pre-load these programs or websites so that they’re ready for you when you need them. This can help to save time and improve your productivity. Additionally, AI can also help to optimize your battery life by learning your usage patterns and making adjustments accordingly.
Another benefit of AI is that it can help to protect your laptop from malware and other security threats. This is because AI is constantly learning and evolving, which means that it can quickly identify new security threats as they arise and take steps to protect your laptop from them. Additionally, AI can also help to keep your personal data safe by encrypting it and storing it in a secure location.
The Drawbacks of AI for Laptops
While there are several benefits to using AI on your laptop, there are also some drawbacks that you should be aware of. One of the main drawbacks is that AI requires a lot of processing power, which can drain your battery life quickly. Additionally, if you’re not careful, you may accidentally give away too much personal information to an AI program without realizing it. Finally, there is always the possibility that an AI program could malfunction or become corrupted, which could lead to serious problems for your laptop.

I have so many laptops with zero issues, including batteries. Never leave a laptop plugged in.
Of all the ones I see here are the common issues:
- Power connectors: charging ports get pushed and pulled by people tripping over the cord or smashing the connector into their knees, the wall, or the floor.
- Hinges for the screen. Grabbing the screen by the corner, over extending, or rough treatment break screens or the small connectors internally that go to them
- Keyboards. The keys can wear and fade, or junk gets inside them and makes the keys inoperable.

Let’s collect some more data about the longevity and repairability of laptops.

When our laptops start to slow down or show signs of wear, it can be frustrating. The good news is that there are things you can do to prolong the life of your laptop and make it last longer. Below are some tips on how to make your laptop last longer.
- Keep your laptop clean
One of the best ways to prolong the life of your laptop is to keep it clean. Just like any other piece of technology, laptops can accumulate dust and dirt over time. This can cause the fans to work harder and eventually overheat the system. To prevent this from happening, make sure to clean your laptop regularly. You can use a damp cloth or compressed air to remove dust from the keyboard and vents. - Use a cooling pad
Another way to help keep your laptop cool is to use a cooling pad. Cooling pads help dissipate heat away from the laptop, which can prolong its lifespan. Many cooling pads also come with built-in fans, which can further help keep your laptop cool. - Avoid overheating
Overheating is one of the leading causes of laptops shutting down prematurely. To avoid overheating, make sure that you’re not blocking any of the vents on your laptop and that you’re not using it on a soft surface like a bed or couch where it can’t breathe. Additionally, if you’re going to be using your laptop for an extended period of time, consider investing in a stand that will elevate it slightly so that air can circulate more easily. - Update your software regularly
One thing that many people don’t realize is that keeping your software up-to-date can actually help prolong the life of your laptop. That’s because updates often include patches for security vulnerabilities and other bugs that could potentially cause problems down the line. So, if you want to keep your laptop running smoothly, make sure you’re staying up-to-date on all the latest software updates. - Don’t overload your laptop
Another common mistake people make is loading their laptops down with too many programs and files. This can actually put strain on the system and cause it to run slower or even crash. So, if you want to keep your laptop running at its best, only install the programs and files you need and regularly delete anything you don’t use anymore.
While there’s no guaranteed way to make your laptop last forever, following these tips can help prolong its lifespan so you can get the most out of it. Taking care of your laptop is important not only for financial reasons but also for productivity reasons. After all, a well-running laptop can mean the difference between getting work done and falling behind. So if you want to keep your laptop running smoothly for as long as possible, make sure you’re following these tips!
Below are the best laptops in 2022-2023:
How artificial intelligence is changing the laptop landscape
In recent years, we’ve seen a surge in the development of artificial intelligence (AI) and its applications. From smart speakers to self-driving cars, it seems like there’s no limit to what AI can do. But what about laptops? How is AI changing the way we use these essential devices? Let’s take a look.
One of the most significant ways AI is changing laptops is in terms of performance. With traditional laptops, the processor is the biggest determining factor in how well the device will perform. However, with AI-powered laptops, that’s no longer the case. Thanks to their ability to handle complex tasks quickly and efficiently, AI-powered laptops are able to outperform their traditional counterparts when it comes to things like video editing and rendering, 3D modeling, and even gaming.

Another area where AI is having a major impact on laptops is battery life. One of the biggest complaints about laptops has always been that they need to be plugged in constantly in order to function properly. However, with AI-powered laptops, that’s no longer an issue. Thanks to their efficient use of power, AI-powered laptops can last for hours on end without needing to be plugged in. This means you can finally say goodbye to those pesky low battery warnings!
Finally, AI is also changing the way we interact with our laptops. Thanks to voice recognition software and other advancements, it’s now possible to control your laptop entirely hands-free. This means you can finally get some work done while you’re on the go without having to worry about lugging around a heavy laptop or dealing with tangled wires. All you need is your voice!
As you can see, AI is having a major impact on laptops and how we use them. From improved performance to longer battery life, there’s no doubt that AI-powered laptops are the way of the future. So if you’re in the market for a new laptop, be sure to keep an eye out for one with AI capabilities! You won’t be disappointed.

- ASUS Vivobook 16 or a Macbook Neo for university if both cost the same?by /u/Ineedhelp08374 (Apple Macbook) on June 6, 2026 at 6:24 pm
Hi guys, looking to buy a laptop for university. Something that can last 5 years and suitable for med school so obv nothing heavy duty like blender or coding. My only concern is the 8gb RAM compared to the 16 of the asus, many tech reviews I have watched did not recommend the neo solely because of the bottleneck due to the low RAM. submitted by /u/Ineedhelp08374 [link] [comments]
- MacBook Air M5by /u/thoughtbroadcast101 (Apple Macbook) on June 6, 2026 at 6:20 pm
I bought my first macbook ever. It is MacBook Air m5. My experience has been good so far. I have one concern tho till now. I use pdf of multiple books. I use native app to review and highlight my books. I have noticed that my MacBook really lags at times and hallucinate for few minutes. ( for reference I just highlight or underline text nothing fancy) My concern is this normal? Everyone over internet is going gaga about this new M5 chip. I don’t have any prior experience to compare it with. Any suggestions would be appreciated. submitted by /u/thoughtbroadcast101 [link] [comments]
- What could be the issue with my MacBook Air M2by /u/heyaishwary (Apple Macbook) on June 6, 2026 at 5:54 pm
I was facing this issue last week, but it resolved on its own and worked fine for 4-5 days. Since yesterday evening, I have started facing it again. Took my Mac to the Apple Authorised Service Centre in Bengaluru, India, and they said they would need to open the laptop and diagnose the issue. The price they quoted me for the diagnosis is ₹3,500 (35 USD). Before I drop this laptop for the diagnosis I just wanted to get opinions from this community. I got this laptop last year in February. Battery health is 91%. No water or spillage was there. submitted by /u/heyaishwary [link] [comments]
- Neo or Air (For Form Factor/Portability)?by /u/marketing_professor (Apple Macbook) on June 6, 2026 at 5:43 pm
This is not the typical “Which one should I buy?” For those who may have experienced the Air and the Neo, which one would you choose based on portability and form factor? I’m not referring to the differences in their tech specs (I’m very aware of the computing differences). I’m simply wondering for those who have potentially used either one for some days, which one felt better carrying around and traveling with? Please don’t yell at me to go to the store and play with them. Lol I’ve done that. I’m just interested in those who may have traveled and carried them around as their daily driver. I’ve only ever owned a 16” Pro (silicon version), and I’m getting an additional MacBook (for casual and portable use). I’m not worried about a budget or specs…and I don’t want an iPad with a keyboard, hence my overall question. Thanks! submitted by /u/marketing_professor [link] [comments]

- Air or Pro?by /u/toniwx (Apple Macbook) on June 6, 2026 at 3:49 pm
I currently have a 8GB RAM/256SSD M2 MacBook Air. I’ll be graduating design university next year. I’m currently on an exchange program and Apple products are cheaper for me here, so I was considering getting a machine that had 24 RAM and maybe 1TB SSD. However I’m really torn between M5 Air and Pro. Air I’m already used to the size and weight and is great, but with the upgrades I’m considering the difference in price gets smaller. Pro has a great screen, which is the biggest attractive for me, and the upgrades are pretty much already included apart from RAM. Both would sure be good since the configuration is what I’m aiming for, I’m just torn since I would already make an expensive purchase if going all for Pro would be better or just overkill. submitted by /u/toniwx [link] [comments]
- Should I buy the M5 or not?by /u/SorryDemand4816 (Apple Macbook) on June 6, 2026 at 3:36 pm
Hi, I'm currently using a MacBook M2 and I have no trouble using it. However, my company says they will cover 50% of the cost if I buy a laptop and keep it for me. So, I'm thinking of buying the new MacBook Pro M5. What do you think? I plan to get the 16GB RAM and keep everything else standard. I mainly use it for document work like Keynote and Excel, and occasionally I use Illustrator or After Effects. I'm hesitant because I heard the new M6 model coming out next year has a lot of changes. But I also wonder if a first-generation model that has changed so much isn't really that great, and waiting until next year feels like too much time to spare. What do you think I should do? submitted by /u/SorryDemand4816 [link] [comments]

- Macbook pro vs air for heavy docker usageby /u/Hot-Charge198 (Apple Macbook) on June 6, 2026 at 12:36 pm
I cannot decide between the two. I usually have 3-5 docker containers (web apps) running at once (+chome, spotify etc), and on my current windows machine, I average around 28 / 32 gb of ram. I will buy the 32 version, but idk which one, the pro being 1k more expensive. Will an air suffice my use case? submitted by /u/Hot-Charge198 [link] [comments]
- Macbook Neo, cant establish connection to router's Wifiby /u/woll3 (Apple Macbook) on June 6, 2026 at 12:35 pm
So i got a Macbook Neo today for portable office tasks thinking that its gonna be the most problemfree solution, turns out that it potentially got a problem with the routers(cgA4336) band steering, there also doesnt seem to be a hardware issue as it can connect to my phones hotspot just fine and i used that to update to tahoe 26.5.1 which didnt change anything. Unfortunately splitting the band steering into two separate networks isnt an option due to the ISP locking pretty much everything down so i cant further troubleshoot from there, which leaves the question as to what options i have on the macs end. submitted by /u/woll3 [link] [comments]

Hi everyone, I'm 18 years old and I'm looking for a basic school laptop preferably with touchscreen. I don't know a lot about laptops myself so I thought you could help me? I already have iPhone and iPad and it would be nice to transfer stuff immeadiatly to my laptop... Feel free to ask more questions. LAPTOP QUESTIONNAIRE Country Belgium/ Europe Budget 500 euro or 576 usd Are you open to refurbs/used options? Yes, required Screen size Any size, preferably a laptop that I could easily find a shoulder/ college bag for. Probably smaller than 15". Weight limit Any, but if I want to take it with me than a light laptop would be better. Purpose Mostly for school (I study Modern languages now and don't know what I'll do in college yet). Form factor Preferably 2-in-1, so touchscreen. Intended usage I don't game and I don't think I'll have to download big installations. I would use it for school and general use like entertainment. Desired battery life Around 8 hours. Please list, in order of most important to least important, the priority between Size, Weight, Performance, Battery life Budget> refurbished > form factor > battery life > size, weight and purpose. Info/Requirements I connect the laptop i have right now to my screen with a HDMI cable, so I would love it if it has that already. I want AZERTY keyboard. I already have an iPhone and iPad so would it be good to get a macbook? submitted by /u/Naive_Ad_5969 [link] [comments]
- Data consumption on a MacBook with a personal hotspot.by /u/bikotzabi (Apple Macbook) on June 6, 2026 at 11:09 am
Hello. Let's see if I can explain myself clearly, as I'm not entirely sure what I'm going to ask. I'm thinking of getting a MacBook to use outside the house because I'm tired of using my iPad and having to finish certain things on my MacBook at home. The iPad is convenient, yes, but you can't do everything on it. My question is: I want to set up a personal hotspot for about 4 hours an hour on average. Does using a personal hotspot consume a lot of data? In other words, do I need a high-speed data plan? I ask because I've read that it uses around 4GB per hour, but I don't know if that's true because I'm completely unfamiliar with this. I've used an iPad until now, and I'm afraid the data usage isn't the same. Thanks, and best regards. submitted by /u/bikotzabi [link] [comments]
- I bought my first MacBook since 2011by /u/ChanceGrapefruit4107 (Apple Macbook) on June 6, 2026 at 10:46 am
Here's my latest little project. I recently went back to taking some classes, and I didn't want to lug my massive workstation around just to take notes. It's a beast (96GB of RAM, 3kg) but total overkill for that. So I dug out an old 2015 MacBook Pro and gave it a second life with Linux (Mint), the same way my iMac now runs its own version. These machines are gorgeous and so thin, and they were headed straight for the scrap heap. Here's how to do it: - Grab a USB stick - Download Rufus - Download the ISO for the Linux distro you want to install - Create a bootable USB stick with Rufus - Plug in the stick, then power on the machine while holding the Alt key - Select the boot option on the EFI disk - Enjoy If you're thinking of refurbishing an old MacBook, here are a few issues I ran into: Wi-Fi card driver not supported => Fixed by switching to kernel 6.14 Automatic sleep mode => Fixed by disabling sleep-on-lid-close, since it was poorly implemented Fans stuck at minimum speed => Fixed by installing mbpfan Now I've got a light, silent, good-looking machine that does exactly what I need, for free. If you've got an old MacBook gathering dust, give it a shot. Happy to answer questions if anyone runs into the same issues. submitted by /u/ChanceGrapefruit4107 [link] [comments]
- Is my MacBook still relevant?by /u/Midaxas (Apple Macbook) on June 6, 2026 at 10:23 am
I have an old 2013 MacBook Pro running macOS Big Sur 11.7.11. It has a 2.6 GHz dual-core Intel Core i5 and 8 GB of RAM. I'm wondering how usable it still is for coding in 2026. I know I won't be able to use some newer software (like recent versions of Xcode), but can it still run a reasonably current version of VS Code? Are there any major limitations I should be aware of? I'm also curious about everyday tasks such as watching YouTube, browsing Reddit, and general web browsing. Does it still handle those well, or does it feel noticeably slow? The reason I'm asking is that I switched from this MacBook to a Windows desktop around 2015, and the MacBook has been sitting in my basement ever since. I now need something portable for work on the go, and I'm trying to decide whether it's worth dusting off the old MacBook or if I'd be better off buying a newer laptop. What would you do in my situation? submitted by /u/Midaxas [link] [comments]
