Heroes

Season 1 was great and fresh. Season 2 didn’t know what to do with itself and just started giving everyone super powers.

By Season 3, characters were just changing motivations at the drop of a hat and it was just a huge mess of bad writing.

The blacklist, so many loopholes and a never ending plot. I mean, the female hero (forgot her name) was wanted and had her pictures broadcast nationwide live, but a couple of weeks after she can do undercover work.

Not the worst offender, but That 70’s Show tanked pretty hard once Eric left. He was sorely needed to make the chemistry of the group work.

What are movies where the final line of dialogue is the title of the movie?

I was watching Chinatown last night (great movie, btw!) and got to the final scene already knowing what the last line is, cause it’s famous and all, but only then clicked that the last word spoken is the title of the movie. (I know you can hear some cops sorta talking in the background as the camera pans out but I don’t think anyone would say that is the final dialogue in the movie).

Anyway, got me thinking, what are some other movies like this? Last words are the title of the film.

1- “And then they realized they were no longer little girls…They were little women.” – As read by Moe

2- Perfection

3- “I am Iron Man

4- The Breakfast Club

5- “It’s Fantastic.”

6- “Say that again”

7- “It’s Fantastic”

8- “Guys, I think I’ve got it”

9- Fant4stic

10- I told my wife about my dinner with Andre

11- Queen’s Boulevard

12- “By the end of that summer of ’59, we truly were a Fellowship of the Ring.”

13- Mystery men ends with a reporter asking “who are these Mystery men?”

14- “Finally, an end to these Star Wars”

I’d argue he’s the second most powerful member of The Seven

(Note, I’m doing TV Show Black Noir)

Black Noir is my favorite character in The Boys only second to Stormfront (cause she’s hot). So I always wanted to publicly share where I scale Noir, but before I do this, I have to share a few stuff stuff.

  1. The Boys Presents Diabolical is mostly canon, specifically episodes 6,7 and 8.

That’s really all, now sit back and enjoy (or dislike) this answer.

  • Section 1: AP

Black Noir’s AP feat-wise isn’t too impressive since his speed is the real deal, but he’s still no joke since he’s able to fight and defeat Kimiko in a battle.

(I consider this fight to be an outlier since Black Noir should be faster than her, but it doesn’t change the fight since Black Noir is stronger)

And keep in mind this is the same Kimiko that survived attacks from A-Train

And even reacted to A Train while he was going fast

Kimiko speed feat
Imgur: The magic of the Internet

This says a lot since she was badly damaged while fighting Noir (Had to use her self healing to survive), and she didn’t even get harmed that much while fighting A-Train since she got back up a few seconds later.

And he has shown himself to be much stronger than Starlight in multiple instances

https://giant.gfycat.com/ImpossibleExhaustedHarvestmouse.mp4

This is the same Starlight that survived an attack from Stormfront (Same with Kimiko)

And Starlight tanked a Serbu BFG 50A with no injury

Starlight durability #1
Imgur: The magic of the Internet

So already Noir scales above Kimiko and Starlight and scales above A Train due to a better performance aganist Kimiko, you could also argue his AP being at least on par with Maeve due to the tree nut scene and her deciding to use tree nuts instead of fighting him.

But it’s an iffy argument, doesn’t really matter though cause I think Noir beats her regardless.

  • Section 2: Speed

My favorite section yet.

Noir is stated to be much faster than a car

Not too impressive but this is just the start.

Black Noir was consistently able to dodge Homelander’s beams

And dodged Homelander himself

Blacknoirvshomelander GIF – Find & Share on GIPHY
Discover & share this Blacknoirvshomelander GIF with everyone you know. GIPHY is how you search, share, discover, and create GIFs.

I made an answer as to why Homelander is Hypersonic+ at least and his lasers are faster, check it out

Homelander is narratively potrayed to be the most powerful being in The Boys and should be the fastest

Not only that but Black Noir is consistently able to counter Homelander’s beams with his knives and is fast enough to throw them

https://i.giphy.com/media/mopdzvwJYP1FbseXKL/giphy.mp4 https://i.giphy.com/media/JrxshenT8yh7W7kpxi/giphy.mp4

No one in The Boys has shown a good speed feat like Black Noir just for this (excluding Homelander) not even A Train has shown anything like this.

  • Section 3: Durability

Doesn’t show too much but he’s able to tank a bomb from Naqib

With minor injuries to him

And tanked explosions previously as well

https://giant.gfycat.com/AdorableAbandonedInchworm.mp4 https://giant.gfycat.com/ElementarySpeedyDodo.mp4

  • Section 4: Others

Not too much but he’s great at Martial Arts, Stealth, Weapons, etc. He’s basically Batman

I hope you enjoyed the answer, wanna thank some people who remain annoymous for proving the scans to some of these

  • They Live was a documentary
    by /u/NoirDoICare on April 17, 2024 at 5:30 pm

On this day, Roderick George Toombs better known as "Rowdy" Roddy Piper was born. John Carpenter casted a popular wrestler, an unknown actor to cinema, to play Nada: a west coast drifter who stumbles across a box of black sunglasses that allow him to see an alien race disguising itself as human. Not only is this a cult classic, but the film continues to age like a fine wine, as more and more people put on the damn glasses and realize it's a satirical reflection of the times we're living in. Over the years, They Live has become the mecca of conspiracy, a mirror for globalist overreach, consumerism, and subliminal messaging in our society. It shines a light on the various wolves in sheep's clothing who exist primarily to serve a nefarious narrative. TBH you won't find anyone on this planet who hates unnecessary Hollywood remakes and sequel cash grabs more than I do, but when you really think about it, is there another project more deserving of a fresh coat of paint than They Live? It's not a perfect movie but any means, but it carries with it a brutal honesty at its core, criticizing many of the illusions put in place to control the masses. I'd argue it would be difficult for any director to fill Carpenter's shoes, as the guy is an iconic legendary badass, but I think it's time one of today's respected auteurs step up to the plate. What do you guys think? A friend of mine gave me this book. I highly recommend it as it offers deep analysis and thematic commentary on the film from all angles. They Live: A Novel Approach to Cinema (Deep Focus) by Jonathan Lethem. *Here's a photo of me and my brother in character. • The Whitest Kid U’Know present: ‘Mars’ - premiering at Tribeca film festival
    by /u/tokoloshe_ on April 17, 2024 at 5:18 pm

For anyone who doesn't know the story behind this film, it was originally written soon after the end of the Whitest Kids U Know TV show ended in 2011. After a long hiatus, the WKUK guys reunited in 2020 to stream on Twitch. The goal of these streams was to use the donations to crowdfund Mars, because as they said, "No studio would ever let us make this movie as we think it should be made, they would kill us with notes." Over the course of the year and a half, they were able to raise enough money to fund recording all the lines, and a lot of the animation work. In August of 2021, Trevor Moore died very unexpectedly, and this brought the production progress to a screeching halt. Luckily, Trevor's lines were all recorded, and the guys assured their fans that the film will eventually be released. Production continued, but at a snail's pace, mostly due to a lack of funding. After a long stretch of silence, it was announced today that finally, Mars will be premiering at Tribeca Film festival in June. This film is Trevor Moore's last project. Trevor often said that Mars was the best thing he has ever done, and he was very excited for its release. submitted by /u/tokoloshe_ [link] [comments]

  • Little Women (2019)
    by /u/livluvellro on April 17, 2024 at 4:31 pm

This is my fourth time watching Greta Gerwig’s Little Women. I could understand how people would prefer the one with Winonoa Rider, and Christian Bale - if they have read the book that is. Anyway, this is not a critique I just wanted to say how the previous times I have watched this, I have seen it more of a heartbreaking/romantic story focused on the love between man and women. This time, I am much more mature and instead of crying primarily on the hill scene, I just could not contain my tears when Beth died. I couldn’t contain my tears when the family was all together whole again. I truly appreciate how this story is focused on the girls lives and hopes and dreams. I even found myself to be less agitated with amy (although she still got on my nevrves as someone with a younger sister). However, I have not read the book and I can understand how the question I am about to ask may be subjective based off which version of this story we are experiencing; Did laurie settle for amy? I know he says “the love I feel for amy is different”, but I never really understood the bond between them. Is it different in the previous movie? the book even? what are y’all’s take on laurie and amy? even jo if she plays a factor in this question. submitted by /u/livluvellro [link] [comments]

  • What's your FAVORITE movie trope and why?
    by /u/AceCoordinatorMary on April 17, 2024 at 3:03 pm

It's too easy to complain about movie tropes. And it makes sense. If over done or not done well, they can be cringe inducing. But when done well? Oh so good. So, with that, what's your favorite movie trope of all time? My favorite trope of all time is when the hero is like, backed against the wall and BAM the friends come in to save the god damn day. I don't know why, it's so cheesy most of the time, but some others? Like in Game of Thrones when you think Jon Snow is DONE for all of a sudden the Vale army comes riding in and Sansa and Littlefinger are Gandalf? It's just too good. The movie version of this that I really like is the Portal scene. I mean...Come on. It's fucking sweet. submitted by /u/AceCoordinatorMary [link] [comments]

  • How do you think movies will evolve in the next few decades?
    by /u/Huihejfofew on April 17, 2024 at 11:21 am

I've started watching more old films recently. One thing that's at the back of my mind is that when these movies came out, they were seen as modern pieces. However, living in our time with the modern movies we have, even looking back 10 years, some movies begin to show their age. Something about their cinematography and visuals tells you that they're newer movies, things like heavier use of CGI, faster cuts and shot types. It makes me wonder, in 10, 20, 30 and 50 years how do you foresee movies changing? What kind of techniques will future movies use that will make us look back on the movies of today and think they look old and outdated? submitted by /u/Huihejfofew [link] [comments]

    by /u/Dapper-Importance994 on April 17, 2024 at 7:20 am

It's finally available for streaming, though there's a rental charge, but it's small. I knew this movie was going to be absurd, but it brilliantly combined absurdity with logic. It's the smartest "dumb" movie I've ever seen. Plenty of 4th wall breaking but it's actually part of the plot. There's minor references to classic movies and pop culture, but not hit you over the head with references, the filmmakers are more sly with their references. This is not a standard Hollywood movie by any means, but it should still appeal to most people. submitted by /u/Dapper-Importance994 [link] [comments]

  • What are the movies you watched blindly but left you completely impressed?
    by /u/saintsebs on April 16, 2024 at 9:42 pm

After a very long and tiring work day my friend and I wanted to go to the cinema to watch a movie and the only one playing at a random hour in the night was The Zone of Interest. I’d never heard of this movie before, and I just googled it before buying the tickets and looked at some pics online and it looked aesthetic. So we went for it and I left completely impressed by the whole cinematography and their concept to make the sound the main concept of the movie. It made me completely uncomfortable, but I think it was one of the best movies I’ve watched this year. So, it made me wonder: what are some movies you watched blindly because of reasons, but you’re glad you did? submitted by /u/saintsebs [link] [comments]

  • Something about "that" scene in Saving Private Ryan that I feel like is overlooked
    by /u/awkard_the_turtle on April 16, 2024 at 8:27 pm

Just rewatched it and I googled what people think about the German soldier sparing Upham on the staircase. A lot of online discourse simply said "The German soldier saw no reason to waste a bullet on Upham, there was bigger fish to fry and Upham was no threat" When I first watched the movie I might've thought this a long time ago too. I mean, in my memory it seemed like he just walked past Upham like he was nothing. But rewatching it NOW? It is painstakingly obvious that there is more to it than that. Look at it in the context of what has JUST occurred in the film. The German soldier engages in a brutal hand to hand knife fight, and that is probably the first time in his life he has killed another man face to face, slowly. The soldier he kills is not only begging for his life, but the German soldier is trying to soothe him back, imploring him that "It will be easier this way". Killing a combatant with a gunshot from a distance is one thing, but slowly watching them beg for their life is probably going to be harrowing on anybody but the most grizzled combat veteran. Basically, I think after he just went in that room, fought the soldier (Mellish? I forget), watched him plead for his life and tried to soothe him while he plunged the knife into his chest, walked out, and saw ANOTHER american soldier crying in the corner, he thought about what he JUST went through, and having to do it ALL OVER AGAIN, and decided that he would rather just walk away and spare Upham. Basically, if he hadn't gotten in that knife fight and killed that man in that room the way he did, and had just encountered Upham crying on the staircase, he 100% would have just shot him. I think the experience of what he went through in the room with killing Upham's friend in brutal, face to face combat, directly lead to his decision to let Upham live, because who the fuck wants to do that twice in a row? I'm sorry if I'm not explaining it well, but I am curious to hear thoughts on this. submitted by /u/awkard_the_turtle [link] [comments]

  • "Serious" movies with a twist so unintentionally ridiculous that you couldn't stop laughing at the absurdity for the rest of the movie
    by /u/hwc000000 on April 16, 2024 at 2:47 pm

In the other post about well hidden twists, the movie Serenity came up, which reminded of the other Serenity with Anne Hathaway and Matthew McConaughey. The twist was so bad that it managed to trivialize the child abuse. In hindsight, it's kind of surprising the movie just disappeared, instead of joining the pantheon of notoriously awful movies. What other movies with aspirations to be "serious" had wretched twists that reduced them to complete self-mockery? Malignant doesn't count because its twist was intentionally meant to give it a Drag Me to Hell comedic feel. EDIT: It's great that many of you enjoyed this post, but most of the answers given were about terrible twists that turned the movie into hard-to-finish crap, not what I was looking for. I'm looking for terrible twists that turned the movie into a huge unintended comedy. submitted by /u/hwc000000 [link] [comments]
