What TV show was amazing at first but became unwatchable for you later on?

Season 1 was great and fresh. Season 2 didn’t know what to do with itself and just started giving everyone super powers.

By Season 3, characters were just changing motivations at the drop of a hat and it was just a huge mess of bad writing.

The blacklist, so many loopholes and a never ending plot. I mean, the female hero (forgot her name) was wanted and had her pictures broadcast nationwide live, but a couple of weeks after she can do undercover work.

Not the worst offender, but That 70’s Show tanked pretty hard once Eric left. He was sorely needed to make the chemistry of the group work.

Once Upon a Time. The first 3 seasons were good! And then after that they just kept getting worse

What are movies where the final line of dialogue is the title of the movie?

I was watching Chinatown last night (great movie, btw!) and got to the final scene already knowing what the last line is, cause it’s famous and all, but only then clicked that the last word spoken is the title of the movie. (I know you can hear some cops sorta talking in the background as the camera pans out but I don’t think anyone would say that is the final dialogue in the movie).

Anyway, got me thinking, what are some other movies like this? Last words are the title of the film.

1- “And then they realized they were no longer little girls…They were little women.” – As read by Moe

2- Perfection

3- “I am Iron Man

4- The Breakfast Club

5- “It’s Fantastic.”

6- “Say that again”

7- “It’s Fantastic”

8- “Guys, I think I’ve got it”

9- Fant4stic

10- I told my wife about my dinner with Andre

11- Queen’s Boulevard

12- “By the end of that summer of ’59, we truly were a Fellowship of the Ring.”

13- Mystery men ends with a reporter asking “who are these Mystery men?”

14- “Finally, an end to these Star Wars”

I’d argue he’s the second most powerful member of The Seven

(Note, I’m doing TV Show Black Noir)

Black Noir is my favorite character in The Boys only second to Stormfront (cause she’s hot). So I always wanted to publicly share where I scale Noir, but before I do this, I have to share a few stuff stuff.

  1. The Boys Presents Diabolical is mostly canon, specifically episodes 6,7 and 8.

That’s really all, now sit back and enjoy (or dislike) this answer.

  • Section 1: AP

Black Noir’s AP feat-wise isn’t too impressive since his speed is the real deal, but he’s still no joke since he’s able to fight and defeat Kimiko in a battle.

(I consider this fight to be an outlier since Black Noir should be faster than her, but it doesn’t change the fight since Black Noir is stronger)

And keep in mind this is the same Kimiko that survived attacks from A-Train

And even reacted to A Train while he was going fast

Kimiko speed feat
Imgur: The magic of the Internet

This says a lot since she was badly damaged while fighting Noir (Had to use her self healing to survive), and she didn’t even get harmed that much while fighting A-Train since she got back up a few seconds later.

And he has shown himself to be much stronger than Starlight in multiple instances

This is the same Starlight that survived an attack from Stormfront (Same with Kimiko)

And Starlight tanked a Serbu BFG 50A with no injury

Starlight durability #1
Imgur: The magic of the Internet

So already Noir scales above Kimiko and Starlight and scales above A Train due to a better performance aganist Kimiko, you could also argue his AP being at least on par with Maeve due to the tree nut scene and her deciding to use tree nuts instead of fighting him.

But it’s an iffy argument, doesn’t really matter though cause I think Noir beats her regardless.

  • Section 2: Speed

My favorite section yet.

Noir is stated to be much faster than a car

Not too impressive but this is just the start.

Black Noir was consistently able to dodge Homelander’s beams

And dodged Homelander himself

Blacknoirvshomelander GIF – Find & Share on GIPHY
Discover & share this Blacknoirvshomelander GIF with everyone you know. GIPHY is how you search, share, discover, and create GIFs.

I made an answer as to why Homelander is Hypersonic+ at least and his lasers are faster, check it out

Homelander is narratively potrayed to be the most powerful being in The Boys and should be the fastest

Not only that but Black Noir is consistently able to counter Homelander’s beams with his knives and is fast enough to throw them

No one in The Boys has shown a good speed feat like Black Noir just for this (excluding Homelander) not even A Train has shown anything like this.

  • Section 3: Durability

Doesn’t show too much but he’s able to tank a bomb from Naqib

With minor injuries to him

And tanked explosions previously as well

  • Section 4: Others

Not too much but he’s great at Martial Arts, Stealth, Weapons, etc. He’s basically Batman

I hope you enjoyed the answer, wanna thank some people who remain annoymous for proving the scans to some of these

  • 1989 Twister
    by /u/Seminolefan45 on June 14, 2024 at 2:41 am

So… my wife and I just finished watching the 1989 movie “Twister” starring Harry Dean Stanton and Crispin Glover. I am a weather hobbyist/storm chaser so I naturally love weather movies and I stumbled across this movie looking at my “free movies” list on Xfinity. Of course, seeing the word “twister” I became interested. The movie started out normal, with the typical “driving down the road scene” as the protagonist (I believe you’d call him the protagonist) is driving through insert Kansas town here, but once he arrives a local college and meets the character played by Crispin, it completely goes off the rails. The craziest thing about this movie, for being titled “twister”, there was probably an aggregate of 3 minutes worth of tornado footage/references/etc. This movie was so weird, in fact, that it caused me to take time out of my evening to create this post. Has anybody else seen this movie and if so, did you think it was insane also? submitted by /u/Seminolefan45 [link] [comments]

  • Eve's Bayou is the gothic tale I've been looking for my whole life
    by /u/AllHallNah on June 14, 2024 at 12:18 am

First of all, the movie holds tension like I've never felt before. From the scene in the garage, the psychics meeting, the scene with the kids and the snake, the introduction of Julian Grayraven... I could just list every other scene in the movie. The music is used extremely well in this sense. At one point, I wondered if they were overusing the main theme, but I think this is the first time I've ever felt the music to be a character of its own. It's almost like a narrator. It really helps drive the movie along. I find it funny when they start using the whimsical music, though. It feels out of place at first, but it does feel like the music is used to confuse you a little bit. "Is this really a break from the drama? Am I going to get some rest?" Aside from the music, the setting also felt like a character, but it felt familiar and foreign at the same time. It felt like nothing really mattered outside of this little boondocks. Well, maybe a better idea would be comparing it to a setting in the Twilight Zone. It felt familiar, but off by just enough to make me uneasy. The story itself, well... The story. From a storytelling perspective, it's one of the most ambiguous endings to a movie I've come across. Maybe some don't feel that way, but I do. In hindsight, Louis's behavior towards Cisely serves as evidence, but when it starts, it just seems like favoritism (though, people who are experienced with media probably saw the main conflict coming as soon as he showed his favoritism). Then, we have Cisely who had always felt at the very least the most love out of all the kids from her father, at worst, she suffered the abuse. In the context of film making, I feel if Louis had truly assaulted her, we would be told through his letter. Instead, the letter is phrased as a moment of confusion when waking up. The scene itself plays out the same way. I don't want to get into it, because I really haven't spent too much time trying to figure out the truth. I've mostly been impressed by the decision and execution of leaving it as ambiguous as it is (to me. Again, some people lean more towards him having an ongoing history of abuse towards Cisely.) Lastly, the scenery just absorbs you. I feel it's especially effective if you're from more populated areas like the city. The setting brings both a peace and unease we just don't find around tall buildings and traffic. The movie is 10/10 for me personally, but that's maybe because I really had been looking for something with this feel for a long time and it's the first I've come across. submitted by /u/AllHallNah [link] [comments]

  • Planet of The Apes (1968) is an existential nightmare! One of the most horror inducing non-horror movies I've seen. And omg the monkies still look good!
    by /u/Wonder-Lad on June 14, 2024 at 12:11 am

Everyone knows what Planet of The Apes is about through osmosis or most people know the big twists. But I've never sat down and watched it. It's presented as this intriguing sci-fi premise, but it's actually a nightmare inducing scenario of some meta-existential horrors. "What if you were the single sentient cattle in the middle of a theocratic authoritarian dystopia." No wonder it's one of the most famous sci-fi stories. I loved this so much I'm probably gonna go ahead and read the book later. The movie is fucking fantastic. It has aged phenomenally. The camera work, the cinematography, the on location shooting, and I think the ape make up still looks extremely impressive. The faces are very expressive. Of course the big star is Charlton Heston. Being a fucking class act. But Roddy McDowell & Kim Hunter are incredible too. The three leads are all giants. My god this movie is disturbing and anxiety inducing. Everything that's not supposed to go wrong, goes wrong. Straight up one of the most fucked up Sci-fi expeditions. Idk what's worse the fact that it's a reverse alien encounter pov, some kinda evolutionary nightmare, a time displacment scenario, or the fact that it's all happening in the backdrop of a dictatorship dystopia. The big twist that got to me was not that it was all happening to Earth, but when Landon was shown, lobotomized. that comes out of nowhere in this series of fucked up situations. One thing that I didn't foresee coming. Absolute gut punch. TLDR: highly praised masterpiece is as every bit good as it's reputation. Highly recommended. submitted by /u/Wonder-Lad [link] [comments]

  • What Are Your Favorite Movie Endings?
    by /u/DontStepOnMyManHood on June 13, 2024 at 10:24 pm

Mine are: Double Indemnity- Guy is dying with a cigarette in his mouth with his boss by his side. (Don't want to give anything away) Sunset Boulevard: "I'm ready for my close up." Hahahaha The Apartment: "Shut up and deal" The Karate Kid: "We did it Mr.Miyagi, We did it!" Platoon: "We must try with what's left of our lives, to find a goodness and meaning, to this life." Genius ending by Stone. As good as it gets right here. Top Gun- Tom and Kelly with an ending for the ages with the fighter jets doing a double roll. Always: It's always hard to give up what you love. Goodbye is the hardest thing to go through. Ghost: Same as above Terminator 2: "I know now why you cry. But it is something I can never do." Cadence: "That's the sound of a man, working on the chain gang." As they send off Sheen who's headed to Vietnam. Outstanding final two scores to close out the movie. Gladiator: Joaquin and Russ battle for all the marbles. Glorious Basterds: LMAO Dunkirk: Having one of the soldiers read Churchill's famous speech intertwined with the Nazi's converging on the burning plane combined with the music score. Brilliant. I know I missed a few but these are the standout endings for me. submitted by /u/DontStepOnMyManHood [link] [comments]

  • How many people legit understand the entire plot of the Saw franshise?
    by /u/6FunnyGiraffes on June 13, 2024 at 9:55 pm

Like is it just me or is it extremely convoluted and confusing for no reason? I was watching it and just eventually was sort of like "what is even going on?" Most people don't realize there's clearly meant to be an actually deep story which must be a very thankless existence for the writers because no one really understands or cares whatever story they're trying to tell, they're just in it for the crazy body horror. so... Yeah, like the title says does anyone ACTUALLY know or even care about the ridiculously complex lore of the Saw franchise? submitted by /u/6FunnyGiraffes [link] [comments]

  • What are the very violent made-for-children movies from the 80s and earlier?
    by /u/CheeseIsMyHappyPlace on June 13, 2024 at 7:51 pm

I saw Short Circuit 2 when I was about 8 or 9 years old. All my friends had seen it too. That was standard entertainment for young children. I remember the last quarter of the movie making me feel very anxious, and a bit upset. (Spoilers for it ahead.) But I watched some of it again a few days ago and BRUH! I'd forgotten how nasty it gets. The scene where Johnny5 gets betrayed and beaten to death by the bank robbers is something that would make me worry about showing that movie to a 9yo today. One of the hits results in his eye being squished by a hard impact with the sharp end of a crowbar, all clearly shown on screen. Johnnys confused begging being drowned out by Oscar shouting "finish him" during the beating makes it downright traumatic. Not for me now as an adult, of course, but I'm shocked that scene was shot like that for a movie aimed at young kids. And that's just the start of the violent last act. But now I'm feeling all nostalgic and trying to think of the other violent stuff that was made for 80s kids. I didn't think a beating with a crowbar was particularly violent at the time so I feel like there must have been other movies like that but I can't quite remember any. Star Wars had violence but it was cartoonish instead of scary. I watched Schwarzenegger movies when I was under 10yo and I found some of them a bit too much (eg: Predator) but they were made for teens/adults. What are the made-for-young-children movies that had that Short Circuit 2 level of explicit scary violence? ---EDIT TO ADD--- Thanks to comments I think I've realised why I had vague memories of some family/kids movies being shockingly violent but couldn't remember more than that one specific example. Movies used to be savagely messed up! Perhaps my brain just didn't want to recall some of those horrors. Plus I think there's loads of old kids movies that I started to watch but couldn't finish, because of scariness rather than violence though. I'm in full nostalgia mode now. Got weeks worth of traumatic kids movies to watch and the list still growing. Actually excited mwahaha. As has been mentioned below, having little kids watch scary/sad/traumatic movies can be a good thing sometimes. Let's hope so! submitted by /u/CheeseIsMyHappyPlace [link] [comments]

  • Why does it seem like there’s so few major Mother/Son movies?
    by /u/arrowbread on June 13, 2024 at 5:16 pm

It feels like there’s SO MANY movies where the central relationship is Father/Son, Father/Daughter, or Mother/Daughter. I know there’s quite a few movies that feature a mom/son relationship, but it seems like that relationship is hardly ever the main focus of the film. Am I missing them? Why does it feel like the one iteration of parent/child relationship that doesn’t get explored in movies? submitted by /u/arrowbread [link] [comments]

    by /u/TheCommomPleb on June 13, 2024 at 2:02 pm

Looking for some recommendations for violent superhero movies like kick ass, super, watchmen, deadpool, dredd etc Put on kick ass this morning and the missus seemed to be into it and she isn't normally into much I watch so gonna try her with more like this and hopefully we can find a nice middleground rather than my usual all out comedies and her bridgerton lol Any and all recommendations welcomed including those that don't fit the criteria but maybe similar enough! • What crappy movie resonated with you because you saw it at the right time?
    by /u/Old_Replacement_9726 on June 13, 2024 at 2:33 am

My answer is Thor: Love and Thunder. At that point I was checked out of the Marvel franchise, heard it wasn't that good, I don't like Natalie Portman, and if I were to watch it today I probably wouldn't like it. However, I saw it 2 weeks after my dad passed and the movie had a father/daughter plotline with Christian Bale and his daughter. Also my dad loved classic rock so when the movie kept playing Guns n Roses I kept thinking "if they play Knockin on Heaven's Door I'm going to lose it." (We played Knockin on Heaven's Door at the funeral). It's almost the 2 year anniversary of his passing so I've been thinking about him a lot lately and thought I'd take to the internet to see if any strangers could relate. It doesn't have to be the whole movie, could just be a subplot or even a scene. Edit: So I'm actually a woman. I thought that was pretty obvious by my mention of the father/DAUGHTER plotline. But some people seem confused about why I didn't like Natalie Portman (I'm assuming men) and someone even called me a "cuck" haha. Hopefully this makes it less baffling. It has nothing to do with her looks, I just find her snotty. submitted by /u/Old_Replacement_9726 [link] [comments]
