  in his book the singularity is near, ray kurzweil describes what he refers to as his "law of accelerating returns." it basically says that not only is technology on an exponential curve, but that the curve is accelerating, and also applies to society in general. because it can explain all of this much better than i can, i asked v3 to fill in the details, (you will notice that kurzweil turned out to be conservative in his 2005 estimates). it's a long read but probably worth it: "In The Singularity Is Near, Ray Kurzweil extensively discusses the Law of Accelerating Returns and its application not only to technology but also to society as a whole. Below are key passages from the book (as referenced in the search results) that highlight this broader societal impact: 1. Exponential Growth in Technology and Society Kurzweil argues that the exponential growth observed in technological progress also extends to societal transformations.   While I'm skeptical about many AI applications, I truly believe that something great can come out of AI in education, with AI having the potential to help individual students in ways a teacher with dozens of students won't have the time to. Of course, that's if we find ways to use AIs intelligently in addition to teachers, not just to lay off teachers. Does anybody know of successful experiments in the field?   I'm giving a lecture on AI to a group of about 500 soon. I'd like to show them how I uploaded about 5 textbooks into the model and then used it as if it were a tutor by asking it questions about how to treat patients. Bonus if I can fairly quickly do this on AWS using a cheap EC2 instance so that the audience can go to a website and try it during the lecture.   TL;DR I found the ultimate all-in-one AI website, and I feel good being the first one to tell people about it. All-in-one websites are going to be the future of AI. I found out about it when someone on Reddit recommended that AI Galaxy's image generator is officially better than MidJourney. Honestly it's about the same as MidJourney, but free (with hourly limits). I think free users get access to like 10 different AI tools for free. On my first day I personally ended up upgrading to the Ultimate plan on sale for $11, which is crazy because all the other websites charge that much for ONE tool and AI Galaxy was offering me all their tools, image, video, music etc. and since then I always recommend it to everyone because it's honestly a collection of the best AI models for every task, except music generation. For music, Suno is better imo. But for like image and video it's as good as (or maybe better) than MidJourney and RunwayML, Sora, and all the top AI models. One thing I don't like is that you have to type in their website name aigalaxy.app otherwise Google thinks you just want to know about AI features on a Galaxy lol. And also there's a knockoff that tried copying "AI Galaxy", they call themselves "Galaxy AI" lol. But now I installed the AI Galaxy app, there's a button directly on the website to install the app. I like that better because now I can share straight from my phone to the app. Anyhow, that's my honest review and best recommendation, enjoy! submitted by /u/fomoFace [link] [comments]
