Calgary and Edmonton are the 2 biggest cities in Alberta, Canada. The question is which one is better to live in, Calgary or Edmonton? Why?

- Dog trainers recommendationsby /u/Tiny-Gur-4356 (Stories from in and about Edmonton) on May 6, 2024 at 2:49 am
I adopted an approximately two year old Lhasa Apso dog three weeks ago. He is quite smart and sweet most the the time. But we both need some training in his stranger danger barking in the car, recall , but especially on his leash reactivity. We are bonding well, but I am learning that he will growl, bark, and lunge at different random people at random times. I don’t always catch all the signs that he will react because there is no pattern to it. I try to turnaround, give him distance, but I am not always quick enough. I love him dearly already, but I’m embarrassed and sad that walking him has become a dreaded chore. If you have a recommendation for in class dog training or if you are a dog trainer, please help by posting here. Thank you in advance! Well trained humans will have happy dogs! 🐶😄 submitted by /u/Tiny-Gur-4356 [link] [comments]

- Dating (IRL) in Calgaryby /u/Cautious_Major_6693 (Calgary: Onward) on May 6, 2024 at 12:54 am
I’m 28 (F, bi) and ready to settle down more, now having a mid-career position at my job, so I wanna know, where are we meeting people in real life? I’ve been on apps and trying online for probably the past 6-7 years, and while there’s been some fun out of it, it’s not really meeting my goals in what i’m looking for in a partner as I’m less interested in meeting for dates/short term relationships and am wanting someone who’s more long-term. That being said, I haven’t done a lot of dating and meeting others in person first since like age 16-18, so I’d really appreciate some tips on where to find folks, and start building those circles/communities to hopefully find a connection! The only place I wouldn’t be open to meeting someone is work, as I like my job at the moment and don’t think it’s appropriate in that position! submitted by /u/Cautious_Major_6693 [link] [comments]
- Jeep Hard Top Storage in/around Calgary?by /u/ovstar (Calgary: Onward) on May 6, 2024 at 12:51 am
I moved to Calgary recently and I am currently living in an apartment with 0 storage. Unfortunately no family or friends garage/backyard to store my hardtop in for the summer. Not that it has to come off this year, but I do enjoy using my soft top which is currently stored in my bedroom closet. I have a 4 door jeep so unfortunately the top is just too big to fit in the elevator to bring up to my unit. Curious if anyone knows of any businesses that store hard tops kind of how I store my winter and summer tires with KalTire. Any information is appreciated. - Affordable therapy in calgary?by /u/Cyrrene (Calgary: Onward) on May 5, 2024 at 11:25 pm
I've struggled with symptoms of anxiety and depression since I was a teenager, but lately things have been getting pretty bad. I feel like I'm completely spiraling and I don't know what to do. I was wondering if anyone might have a good low-cost therapy clinic to recommend? My workplace insurance covers $500/year so I'm hoping for something I can pay for out of pocket. I also have concerns about my disordered eating habits and I'm not sure where to look for help with that, if it requires a separate kind of therapist? I've never had a good relationship with food but right now I feel so out of control it makes my disordered eating worse, which then makes the depression/anxiety worse. I know it's not actually about the food, it's the lack of control, but I can't seem to fix things on my own like I usually do. Thank you! submitted by /u/Cyrrene [link] [comments]

- BUYER BEWARE — I got scammed by Staples: Open your boxes before leaving the storeby /u/OkContribution3985 (Stories from in and about Edmonton) on May 5, 2024 at 8:34 pm
I bought a printer from Staples in Edmonton South Commons and when I opened the box at home, I saw that the wrong printer was in the box (it wasn't even the same brand of printer). It had a return sticker label (not a shipping label) on the top of the printer with a barcode and information about why it was returned, it's state, and cost, so it looked like it was reviewed by an employee and then put into the incorrect box. I went back to Staples today (the day after buying the printer) and they said they needed to speak to head office to refund it so I could come back tomorrow to possibly get this resolved, like as if I was the one trying to scam them. I left with the wrong printer and who knows if I'll get my refund. I don't want to go back to that store ever again; they were so incredibly rude. I can only assume they are putting open box items back on shelves, so learn from me and please open the box before leaving the store to check that you are getting the item you actually wanted to buy. submitted by /u/OkContribution3985 [link] [comments]

- Scam calls going around in Calgary today with following numbersby /u/Hotfishy (Calgary: Onward) on May 5, 2024 at 5:00 pm
tldr: Scam caller posing as fido telecom and they have my personal info and try to transfer me to unknown police station before I hanged up Hi all, I just want to make a post about the scam calls I received today posing as Fido customer service agent. They called me form following numbers: (both showed up as Toll Free Serv) 1-866-859-7720 1-866-686-8887 Now I know their numbers can change on a dim by the fact that they called me from two different numbers, so please beware of their tactics. They first told me that they called me from "Feedo telecom" and they are calling to let me know that my number has been used to solicit donations to people from China. After I asked why would people from China getting spams from my number, then they corrected themselves said Chinese people from Canada. That's my first red flag as I have never heard of this telecom company and why would they be calling me (even with call control) to kindly inform me about this situation. I asked her about the company name, she spelled it out and it turns out to be fido. Then in an attempt to boost her credibility, she has my name, phone number and address and wants to verify my id. I refused and told her I don't know who she is and I am not about to give her my Id. She said my info could possible be leaked via online app or when making purchases online, which I told her it happens all the time so I am not shocked by it. Then I told her if she has any complain please sent me an formal complaint in writing then I can bring it to my local police station and register this case. She said why don't I just give you the information orally and proceed to read out some "violation number 1647...., date of April 25, 2024, and application number etc". She kept using my name and trying to be sympatric about my situation and she can transfer me to the local police station in some weirdly named airport. I said no, send me a formal mail and I can deal with it. She refused and trying very hard to transfer me, then I hanged up. With a quick search on google, I found out it's a common scam for these fraudsters to post as fido customer service and trying to solicit personal information. I told my wife about this and it seems like she got these calls from these ppl and she blocked them straight away. So please be aware of their tactics as these scam callers is going around! submitted by /u/Hotfishy [link] [comments]

My little dog is getting on in years (14) and unfortunately he’s quite reactive after a pitbull attack last year so it’s difficult for him to be around other dogs. This means off leash parks are a no no, and even regular walks can be difficult if there are a lot of other dogs around. I’d like to get out a bit more with him, have a few adventures to keep him active & happy, but I’m stumped for places to take a reactive dog. Anyone have any suggestions?
